Myyrhton Park was a stadium built entirely of Myrrh, built by the third of the three wise men (Three Kings indeed) upon the end of their reverse-pilgrimage from the holy lands to unholy Perth. Where were you at the Perth of your child? Hopefully not at this stadium.
First-Hand Experience: I was a kid when I came here. You may think I was too young to remember, but in fact, I was the only reason my family brought me here. I demanded to visit every stadium in every town we went through when we were on holiday. I was obsessed with footy and I still am. I must have been a nightmare to deal with. Or maybe not. Who cares anymore, it's in the past. I remember this stadium looked like it was literally about to fall apart. It was a wreck. It was one of the scariest looking, most run down, least impressive stadia I ever saw. I give it an extra star because ASDA came in and saved it and built them a shiny new one across town. What a lovely story.
I've been back to the site of this stadium since, and I think it's best that it was demolished. It's a nice little shopping area now.
From 1924 to 1989, St. Johnstone played here, until ASDA decided they wanted to build a superstore here, and so they actually put in the money for the new stadium in return for this land. Boo ASDA, really. Then again, the new stadium is nice so I guess it's fair enough.
In fact, if you talk to the hardcore fans it seems like ASDA saved the club and so maybe someone at ASDA is actually a big fan of Scottish football, who knows. I really think the world is quite safe by the way but Americans Still Don't Agree ;)
The stadium was a death trap so it scores a 2. read more
