I "had" a 20 year old Box Elder in my backyard that had 3 large trunks. A storm blew over 1 trunk…read morewhich fell onto my Birch tree. I called 2 places. Undercut was the first to call me back. I said I wanted the damaged part of the tree removed, the wood cut for firewood and the Birch cleaned up from the fall. I was at work when they came to do the job. I called my daughter to check-in, and she said they took the enter Box Elder down. I immediately called the owner asking why. He said it was rotting. I then asked about the stump. He told me their grinder was too large to fit through the gate. I said I'll check about removing part of the fence. I wasn't happy but I figured they knew what they were doing. I talked to a friend at work who gave me the name of someone he knows who is an arborist. He came to my home and said his grinder would fit through my gate. I told him what Undercut said about the rotting. He said the tree was NOT rotting. Said he would have never removed the entire tree unless I specifically asked. I had a second opinion- they said the same thing, adding that these trees are very hardy. If they would have left the other 2 trunks- the tree would be even stronger. They ruined my yard for no reason. They didn't listen. I went to the bank to stop payment on the check. I emailed them to let them know, explaining why, and said that once I got the additional costs, that I would send them the balance. Instead of Undercut asking what they could do to make it better, they started emailing me with threats and personal insults. The owner's wife went to my bank and caused a scene, yelling at them for stopping payment. Who does that? Another friend did some research on the owners, and let's just say if I would have looked on CCAP, I would have NEVER called them. Here are some direct quotes from a few of the emails: * If I don't receive cash in full. I will have my attorney start the preceding and I will add attorney fees and court cost and late fees * BTW if you also try to slander my name I'll make sure I take that to court as well. * I don't appreciate people like you and I don't take kindly to it. This is not a threat but I will take you to court and if you don't pay I can put a lean on your house as well which I will. That is a promise! * It makes me sick how someone could be like you. * wonder if your coworkers know how you screw people over and not pay your bills. * You really are ridiculous. I am not arguing with you. I'm gonna tell you this one last time. You will pay us the full amount or I will start the Proceedings and this will be very costly for you in the end. I sent them a cashier's check for 1/2 the amount and that is all I will pay them. It was not good enough: * I will not stop contacting you as well as the collection agency and I have the right to collect. * I will even contact your work as well as the police department for writing worthless checks. I also can approach the da in this matter. I had a beautiful yard, and now I am left with a huge hole where a beautiful tree once stood. I have to pay for stump removed, trim my Birch properly and have a new tree planted which will never fill the space during my lifetime. I am very sad about this and now I am being threatened by the people who did not do what I had asked. Very sad!
