Both my mom and I have also had great experiences with Attorneys Jeffrey Mashni and Laura Gaden…read moreApostol at this firm/through LegalShield, so we thank them for that as well. Receptionists Sara, Rosie, Bernice, and Tammy are also consistently kind and helpful and not rude. Another two attorneys I just spoke to recently, Attorneys Lauren Harris and Margaret Christy, were kind and helpful too. They all get 5 stars. Attorney Lauren Harris also called me after 5 pm like Attorney Laura Gaden Apostol has as well. The lawyers and receptionists who are terribly rude and uncaring take it down several stars, so I had to subtract at least 1 star unfortunately due to them. It is shocking to the body system every time it happens.

I had a terrible experience. I called a week after signing on to sell Legal Shield and was required…read moreto get a membership. I just so happened to have a legal question. I had what seemed to be a reasonable conversation with an attorney. Two days later I was notified the my membership was canceled and that I am banned for life. Nobody will give me an answer as to why I was canceled. I called Legal Shield twice and eventually talked to management and still did not get an answer. One customer service rep told me that he's not supposed to say anything, but more than likely the attorney had me banned. She and I had a normal conversation in a normal tone of voice. I don't know if she violated my confidentiality based on my question and I've been told I'm not allowed to speak to her to find out what she said. This was a very minor legal question and not anything related to criminal proceedings. It was regarding a lawsuit.

Steven Hunter is an excellent criminal defense attorney, he is just simply amazing…read more My eighteen year old son was charged with a misdeanor and 3 felony charges...what a totally nightmare for our entire family. My husband and I was so worried, we didn't know what to do...we began to seek legal representation. After browsing through numerous lawyer's websites, asking friends & family members for references, and making a few phone calls; We noticed that many attorneys seemed to be a little too cocky (hire me or else...) for our taste. I eventually came across Steven Hunter. I called his office, he wasn't in...his assistant took a message, and Steven Hunter returned my call the same day. I stopped into his office where he, in full detail, explained to me everything I needed to know about my son's situation and all the possible outcomes...what had to done in order to put this in the past. When I walked out of Mr. Hunter's office that day knowing my son's next court was in one week; I had already felt like a ton of weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I was assured &100% confident that Mr. Hunter was going to do all that he could to get my son the best possible outcome and that's exactly what happened. After my son's plimenary hearing, the judge found no probable cause... which meant my son was released with no trial, no plea, and most importantly a sealed record that no one would have access to after 1 year. It went from potential prison time & becoming a life long sex offender, to a blemish on my son's record that could have ruined his entire life...to, not even a violation. I'm sure that there are other attorneys out there that could have achieved this same outcome for us as well, but with Steven Hunter, it worked out to be our best possible decision and here's why: 1. My phone calls were always answered or returned in a very timely manner. 2. Mr. Hunter gave me his full attention & treated my son's case as a top priority from day one; he never gave the impression that I didn't have his full attention. 3. I ended up only having to appear at court twice. Steven Hunter is very clever/smart, highly intelligent (yes, people there is a difference...), he's also aggressive, with a keen sense of humor and won't settle for anything less than our objective. 4. Mr. Hunter rates are very reasonable. I was never put under any pressure to accept his service or make immediate payment. He calmly and collectively explained everything to me & didn't once make me feel already committed. In fact, he actually told me to go home and think it over before I initially hired him. 5. In total this entire process only cost me about 3 hours of lost time (mostly for my visit/travel time to my son's court appearance). Thanks to Steven Hunter, my family & I are able to go about our normal lives without having this incident interfere with our personal or professional lives. If you're ever in an unfortunate situation like we were, I highly recommend Steven Hunter. I can not guarantee you that you will have the same outcome we had; as every case is unique, but I can assure you that Steven Hunter is going to do everything possible to work at achieving the best possible result and represent you in the most honest and professional manner. GOOD LUCK!

Steven Hunter does exactly what he says he will do and he is very good at what he does…read more Particularly astute at technicalities, and without going into too much detail about the situation for my privacy and the privacy of the others involved (because I don't think Yelp is the place to drop names in a disparaging way), I was wrongfully accused of something that I did not do and would never do...and we were prepared to go to trial, because I have consistently told the truth and nothing but the truth, whereas he caught the other two individuals lying to the judge. Judge Judy is right when she says "you don't have to have a good memory if you tell the truth." I guess they thought that, on account of my disability, I would not speak well and they would run me over in court but they didn't expect Mr. Hunter to be representing me and at one point the complainant, caught lying to the judge, actually pretended not to speak English! The second hearing was set so the now one complainant could obtain counsel and/or provide evidence for her claims. They made no effort to contact the attorney, Mr. Hunter, during the interim and at the second hearing Attorney Hunter had the baseless accusations that were really just intended to be an unlawful "legal" mode of permanently discrediting me and assassinating my character vacated and thus stricken from my record. Also, Mr. Hunter said if they try to bring more accusations against me in the future he would defend me from those, because it's obvious that they would be made out of malice, not to mention that the accusations would be total lies and virulent attacks on my person due to certain categories of protected classes that I fall into (constituting hate crimes). Mr. Hunter was quick to take my case after not receiving callbacks from several big name attorneys in Chicago. Trust me, Mr. Hunter is not trying to overcharge anybody...he is very fair and transparent with his fees and he will discuss things with you. My case was not particularly complex, because it was evident to everyone who knows me, clearly a case of false accusations made against me as a form of revenge for a perceived slight or show of disrespect that I never had anything to do with. Anyway, Mr. Hunter got the job done and he did it quickly and fairly. He immediately gave me a sense of security on the phone because Chicago Police had largely failed me except for two good Police Sergeants who saw what was really happening, but I don't understand how most of these cops have a gun when they don't know how to read and write. I digress. I would recommend Mr. Hunter without any hesitation, especially when it comes to cases of being wrongfully accused (but I can see from other reviews his specialty is criminal defense in general, he managed to defend me from wrongful criminal and civil accusations before a circuit court judge in Cook County. A fine attorney with a good work ethic and a sharp mind. He is not a slouch nor was he ever late to a hearing. I am grateful to him and I would recommend him for any criminal or civil/criminal charges or accusations when you need someone to defend you in court...because you have a right to a vigorous defense against what can often be police misconduct in Chicago or malicious prosecutorial aggression. Remember, in America, regardless of what the police say or someone else says you did or didn't do...you are innocent until proven guilty and you have the right to a vigorous defense in a court of Law. Steven Hunter will vigorously defend you. Don't be a fool and assume you are smart enough to represent yourself ('pro se'): you need to talk to Mr. Hunter first before you make a bad decision. The only other attorney I could recommend with no hesitation will be retiring this year, but Warren Breslin is also the only other attorney that I have dealt with and been utterly impressed by. In sum, I am very happy I had Attorney Hunter to represent me and I would certainly recommend him to anyone who was in need of a good defense attorney.
