Mr. Handyman of Greater Jacksonville

I had a couple of small repairs and thought to call a handyman for help. "Mr. Handyman." Hmmm…read more Seems to fit - I'll call & schedule my repair of sliding screen door and rehang a linen closet door. Easy, peasey, right? Everyone was pleasant and easy to deal with. I might have been a BIT wary when Karen told me that I would owe the cost of an estimate ($94) if I chose against using their services. I might have given 2 stars because Clayton was such a stand up guy. He arrived on time, studied the job, took pictures and returned to his van to write up the estimate. Drumroll, please..... One Thousand and Ninety-One Dollars!! Yes, you read that right. $1,091.00!! And this is for doors that I already OWN!!! I laughed! It was preposterous!! 4 or 5 TIMES the amount I was considering appropriate for the work involved! So if you have lottery money, give these folks a call. I bet they do a good job. They better for what they charge. If, like me, you DO NOT have lottery money, it's back to the drawing board. Postscript: Home Depot has a BRAND NEW REPLACEMENT SLIDING SCREEN DOOR for $89.00 plus tax - $94...coincidentally what I paid for the pleasure of an estimate. Note to self: ONLY free estimates from now on; only free estimates, only free estimates, only free estimates...

BUT, my last service with this company - the person did odd jobs (easy) was at my house 7 hours and charged 1700$. That's about 242.00$/hr for things like changing a light bulb on back porch with my step ladder... having a wreath hanger over a tall door I could not reach due to ‍. And the invoice you be the judge. I have now asked 3 different handyman and all said this job should have been 600$ at the most. And why was he at your house 7 hours for these tiny jobs ( except one saftey bar placement in bathroom). You be the judge. I won't be recommending them to my neighbors or friends. everyone is struggling with high prices but to take advantage...

As I prepared to choose a pool company I knew that I needed one that was not only able to build a…read morepool but also help me bring my design idea to life. Pratt Guys did just that. They took the time to listen to what I wanted in my design and brought it to life. The best part of the process was the availability of those I worked with. In any construction project there are going to be challenges, set backs and changes. The key is having a team that is responsive and readily available to solve the challenges. The Pratt Guys proved to me that they were worth their salt by being completely available during the challenges of the project. In the end they produced a wonderful space that will be a focal point of my home for years to come.

In the course of the project, contracted in November, completed in May, I discerned that Pratt Guys is a GC in name only. Third parties performed all the work, and the Pratt Guys project managers displayed a woeful lack of equipment and management knowledge. Sub contractors worked on the project as their schedules permitted which resulted in a disjointed integration of the equipment and supporting stonework. In the five years we've had our kitchen, only the pool enclosure has been worth the cost. My Primo grill was installed without proper hardware, the plumbing was not adequate to support the outdoor sink and ice maker, and the electrical work was shoddy at best , and has required repeated attention. The stonework did not support the granite slabs adequately, and the granite cracked. Additionally, I've had to replace the sink pump and the ice maker. The gas grill and the separate large gas burner have yet to fail, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My apologies for not being able to post photos of the shattered Primo, granite cracks, etc.
