I used to love painting ceramics as a kid so when I saw that this place opened in the neighborhood I couldn't wait to take my son. Its a quaint little place, very clean and organized. Not much of a selection when it came to the choices of ceramics, but good for a five year old. I thought that the professionalism and help that we received was great! Both of what looked like the owners came around many times to ask how we were doing, gave us tips on our painting ideas, and refilled our paint. The only downfall is that the prices are not posted for the different types of ceramics so you can imagine my surprise when it was time to pay the bill. Also your item is ready to be picked up in a weeks time- which I thought was rather long. I have not picked my items up but am looking forward to it. All in all would visit again sometime in the future. read more

I had scheduled a painting session for my daughter and 7 of her friends. We were put in the back room, as there was another party in the front. Honestly, I liked the back room better because we were not in the middle of everything. The girls got to pick their pieces (which I discussed with the owner, Evelyn, ahead of time to avoid going over budget). They got their brushes and paint choices and they got to work. Everything there went wonderfully. The staff was helpful to the girls and everyone was very friendly. They were even kind enough to rush the turn around time for the pieces to be finished before school let out so I could get all of the girls' their artwork. I'm pretty sure any comments on here about the owner being pushy were probably more due to language and culture. I found Evelyn to be very friendly and helpful and she genuinely cared that everything went well. I know that we were very happy with our experience and would definitely go back again. read more

I had horrible experience of this store. When I tried to pick up the piece my daughter made, the store was opened yet nobody was working. It happnened twice. When I called, they told me that they will deliver it to my house. I thought it was nice, but it was lie. I even give them address and phone number, but they ignored and hang up the phone in the middle and when I called to find out when they can deliver. I asked to ship, they told me it is too expensive to do so. Manager's attitude was rude, cold, non-caring. They don't even work during work hours, don't answer the phone, broke the promise. I am totally not satisfied with their service and don't recommend this place for children. read more

I have been there many times. It is always a wonderful experience. Mud genius caters to every age. I have gone in with my10 year old son to paint ceramics. I have also gone with friends to paint on canvas. You can bring a bottle of wine and paint with your friends. I have had great times here. I went to a birthday party at mud genius and was shocked at how rude the owner was to the mom throwing the party. Throughout the party I thought she was a bit rude, but it wasn't until I heard her give the poor mom a hard time that I decided I will not be giving them my business anymore. She told the mother of the birthday child that she was cheap for not paying in cash, I couldn't believe it. She also told another guest that her child was awful. The child was 2 years old and crying because he didn't understand that he couldn't take his pottery home right away. My kids where upset because "helpers" kept telling them they were painting it wrong, we've painted pottery many times and I've never heard that one. All in all it was a disappointing experience and I felt very uncomfortable the whole time. read more

Please beware of the hidden fee! They will charge you a one time fee per person (I think it was around $8.00) and the owner didn't even mention it until AFTER we finished painting. The fee is not mentioned on their website or in the store. I've been to other painting places with no fees. So expect to pay for your item plus the hidden fee when you go! read more

My daughter loves coming to Mudd Genius. Its a small place but it is one of the most quaint and family friendly place in the neighborhood. The owners and her daughter are so nice, they make you feel right at home! Plus, they are planning many fun events for the kids and very relaxing for adults to paint at your leisure. Superb ceramic painting art studio. Aside from various social art class with instruction they also host parties for your next event. An amateur artist can walk in and the end result is astonishing. We had a great ladies paint night with instructional directions from Jessica and the wonderful owner and host Evelyn who was very hospitable and welcomed our group and even made it possible for us to pick our desired painting of sunflowers. Jessica was able to incorporate 2 different instructional paintings beautifully into one night of fun for all! I took my daughter to mud genius this week and she really really had a good time. We are arrived at the location approximately 1230 without an appointment. They took us with open arms. When you walk in to the right you will find all the ceramic items to paint. Unfortunately nothing has prices so be careful. My daughter painted a ceramic bowl and it cost $22.50. This includes all the paint you need and the firing of your ceramic piece. The small piece I painted cost approximately $8.50. I noticed there were some reviews about being rushed. I have to say we took our time and we were never rushed through the process. The owner Evelyn was very attentive and had a nice helper. Evelyn was assisting the children with their painting making sure they had the right brushstroke. It was actually very cute. The total bill at the end was $60. A bit more than I wanted to spend but the experience my daughter had was well worth it. The reason I didn't give five stars is because I think before charging the customer an undisclosed "sitting fee" of $8.95, they should mentioned the option to pay the $35.00 yearly membership fee to avoid this charge. It wasn't until after I was rung up that she spoke of the membership. I would have paid the $35 rather then $18 considering my daughter wanted to return. They should really have a sign indicating this option. Overall, we had a great experience and will revisit soon to come. read more

We were there for a party, and the staff and owner were surprisingly disrespectful towards the mother throwing the party and too this other lady who had a 2 year old and a newborn. I actually saw this lady go up to that mom and tell her how she hopes the newborn isn't "terrible" like her 2 year old, the mother actually started to cry because of that. Than the owner charged the woman whose party it was $20 for the pizza when the receipt said $10. Obviously overcharging to make a few extra bucks. Plus the owner and the staff opened the pizza and took food for themselves before anyone else had a chance to take any. The place is supposed to be for children and the owner was snatching things from kids hands and yelling at them to not touch because they will break it. She made a kid cry because of that action too. Definately don't recommend this place and kinda surprised they're still open for business with attitude like that. read more

Went to mud genius once ....wish I could go again but a few hours of fun cost me about $70 the place is cute, the people are really nice, the selection is great I was surprised to read some comments that selection wasn't great I myself was surprised compared to other places I have been one thing I didn't like was the $8.95 sitting fee. a membership was offered but its too expensive and doesn't offer much for example yes you avoid the sitting fee but I want to enjoy this time with my children meaning I need a membership for every person if the membership offered at least a percentage off on the items I would have considered it or at least a parent and one child and each additional child the membership could be like a $10 or $15 add on ill tell you one thing if prices were better I would do it once a month bc I honestly head a great time and it was almost like therapy to me ...hope the owners see this and consider making some changes to their policy and prices read more
