Contacted the artist Julien via Instagram and he was very responsive. Requires a deposit of CA $100 to book. 3 of us were getting tattoos. Julien sat us down individually and designed the tats effortlessly. It was mind blowing. He then tatted each of us individually (only 1 person allowed upstairs in the tatting area). So we chilled downstairs near the cafe (it's so cool you can get something to drink while you wait). I had a matcha green tea with oat milk, was not good but I drank it. Anyway, I am IN LOVE with my tattoo and Julien did a PHENOMENAL JOB I'M BLOWN!! No after care instructions are given and though I'm not new to tattoos, I've never had the saniderm on after getting tattooed so some after care instructions would have been nice (we had to look up some instructions online). It's cash only so be prepared. They do have an ATM but you will be charged fees by your bank They didn't provide a receipt which was also lowkey annoying but I didn't argue it. I will be getting my next tat with Julien (contact through insta) read more

MTL Tattoo - Just one part of a all around big mistake - Piercing Near Me - Montreal, Quebec

MTL Tattoo has two locations. NORD and SUD. Both are equally exceptional; I was fortunate enough to be passing through and get an appointment with Shamus Mahannah of MTL NORD. Not only did he exceed all expectations and make the whole process smooth with open communication until I arrived in Montreal; he even saw me early because I had things planned later that day. I travel and get tattooed quite frequently, and other artists around the world--as far as Guatemala--have recognized him by name, just from looking at my piece. All the other artists there are very friendly and welcoming as well, making the overall experience a more than positive one. Bottom line, If you're in Montreal looking to take a piece of it home with you, MTL Tattoo (NORD or SUD) is the place to go. You'll be very glad you did. read more

It was great. Just wanted to get a small tattoo to commemorate my time in Montreal. Mathieu was a sweetheart. Especially for a last minute tattoo. I'll definitely get one from them again if I'm in town. read more

I only came here for a nose piercing, but this place is absolutely professional and top notch. I am not very familiar with piercings/body mod, but these guys are pros and put my mind at ease. I have total confidence in these folks. I can't comment on the tattoo artists as I did not venture into that, but I hear they are excellent. read more

This is a fantastic shop, definitely had a 5 star experience. I visited Montreal with a friend and we planned to get tattoos but didn't have a shop lined up. We came in on Tuesday and got an appointment for the following day (middle of the week in the winter, it may be busier on weekends). Evan was top notch and a super chilled out dude. We showed him our designs and he sketched them out for us. His station was clean and very professional with a lot of his artwork displayed. Our designs were small and relatively simple, but Evan took the care to make sure they were done properly and with excellent attention to detail. Prices were reasonable. Everyone in the shop spoke English and so not speaking French was not an issue here. I definitely recommend this place and will come here again if I'm back in Montreal. read more

I started the process of stretching my ears today. I got it done by Aleck at MTL Tattoo. I made an appointment and I was seeing on time. Aleck was very friendly and explained the process to me very calmly. I paid for it first, and quickly it was done! I will be back in a month to get a bigger plug. The shop is clean and well decorated. All materials were sterilized and sealed. read more

I just brought my eight year old daughter in to get her ears pierced. The staff was kind, friendly, and precise. They explained each step to her, and were so smooth her eyes didn't even tear up. She loves her new sparkly earrings. read more

I went in for a piercing and Luna was available. Luna was AMAZING! The process was explained to me in detail to help put me at ease and almost all of my nervousness about the pain level was alleviated. Everything was sterile and the process was very quick but in no way rushed. I was given clear aftercare instructions and got a follow up email with aftercare (since some of it did go in one ear and out the other in my excitement and surprise at the ease and speed of the entire process). I'd highly recommend Luna and MTL Tattoo for any of your non-standard piercings. My friend has come in for piercings here as well and had good service. My only regret is that Luna asked if her apprentice could be present for the piercing and I was leaning towards yes but ended up saying no since I thought my nerves would start acting up right before (which they did, but Luna put me so at ease that it really would have been okay). I'm sure they are getting great instruction with Luna! read more

Terrible service, with an extreme patronizing attitude. Went in to ask some questions about their artists, I got 4 tattoos at other places, so it's not like I was a newbie. I got extreme attitude, waited about 1 hour while the person at the person at the cash served every one else before me, I guess I don't look cool enough to be a client there. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! read more

This place has the worst customer service i've ever seen. I booked an appointment with a guest artist from the UK several months in advance. I was so excited since he's one of my favorite artists. When I get there, the unwelcoming, inattentive receptionist that was too busy chatting with her peers and barely even said hello. I told her that I was here for my 4 o'clock appointment. She rudely says that there was a 2 hour delay.. umm ok... so I ask her if I come back in two hours and she responds with a sighful yes. I'm surprised no one bothered to call me to tell me. Anyhow, 2 hours later, I come back and I patiently wait at the reception for over an hour... No one is updating me on anything. She then tells me that I need to pay upfront (before even seeing my sketch). The artist said $450, but the receptionist charged me almost $100 extra because of 'taxes' and did not even give me a receipt (which I remind you is ILLEGAL). I have close to 20 different tattoos and people don't charge 'taxes' or extra fees.... it,s usually X amount per hour. That's it Then the whole staff leaves, closes the shop and leaves me with the tattoo artist to get tattooed. The artist himself was super friendly, talented and apologetic, however, he is not even an employee of MTL Tattoo, just a guest artist. So in all, I spent $600 on a tattoo - before seeing the sketch, before it was done, so not even charged by the hour (I left the artist a $40 tip) for something that was suppose to cost me $450. Honestly, this place has zero customer service and charged me extra fees without providing me with a receipt. Dodgy, don't think I will ever go back, read more

Had my first ever piercing here and I'm very satisfied with the result. Very friendly staff. They give all the information that you need. I had my collarbone pierced and it hurt way less than what i had in mind. If you are planning to get a piercing, i totally recommend this place. read more

If you're looking for anything in old school style, Shamus is your man. I wouldn't see anyone else in the city for old school work. I gave him one of the most insane ideas for a tattoo imaginable (you wouldn't even believe me if I told you) and he drew it out for me. It was perfect. He is kind, courteous and damn funny, and plays awesome music while tattooing. Don't take my word for it though. Go to the shop and look through any artist's portfolio (which is what you should be doing when looking for a new tattoo artist anyway) and see for yourself. I severely doubt you'll regret any tattoo done by him. read more

My husband and I both got tattoos while visiting Montreal. Nicki was our artist and he did amazing work. He listened to what we wanted, took in the meaning behind it and designed something better than what I had envisioned. Nicki was honest, laid back and super easy to talk to. He took caution while cleaning our station and changed his gloves several times from start to finish. Prices are fair, but make sure to bring cash. No credit cards! read more

Had planned on getting my second tattoo in Montreal and looked online to see who got the best reviews. MTL came up on many sites, so I walked in and booked an appointment for later in the day. They were very clear about payment, etc. Emmanuel did my small wrist tattoo and it was quick and relatively painless - it's exactly what I wanted!!! read more

On est alle taleur. Ctait le best. Le monde sont symphatique, c'est pas trop cher pis l'ambiance est cool. Ye

My Fiancé and i went here by coincidence. We walked past it and since were looking for a place to get matching tattoos we went in. Since we wanted to get something small we got an appointment the same day. They were really friendly and helped us choose a design. We got tattooed by Iris. She was very nice and thorough with the design and the cleaning between the two of us. She did a great job at the tattoo it looks good and she talked us through the pain, since it was a very painful spot we had chosen for the tattoo! The price is completely justified for the great service and the clean environment! Thank you! I'll definitely try to come here again! read more

I was in Montreal with two of my friends for a visit/reunion as I hadn't seen one in two years and no longer live in the same city as either of them. We decided we wanted to get some tattoos and chose MTL Nord to go to and could not have been happier! All of the people working there are kind and courteous, the area is very clean and open. Sandro was very helpful and gave us some great advice on the designs we wanted and was very accommodating when it came to our questions. He works very fast and gives beautiful tattoos and is incredibly kind and knowledgeable. If I am ever back in Montreal I will be seeing Sandro again! read more
