"If you have a favorite band, you need to see them in Montreal" This is something I have been chasing for just over a decade, but never able to make it happen, thankfully this was fixed involving the same venue, funny enough. The Venue, in comparison to anything I've experienced in my life, would be in the top 5 favorite venues, great layout, and phenomenal sound. Getting to see my favorite band of all time, In Flames was very close to a religious experience, being on the floor, everyone around me was singing every single word, lots of movement, stomping feet (wow) and a plethora of horns in the air. There is something I've experienced in this venue that I've not experienced anywhere in all my concert going, there are dedicated people who walk around with drink trays and a mobile debit machine, what great and game changing service (Toronto could learn a thing or two) Having a tiny complaint, the lighting for the back floors was not bright enough for the atmosphere, I thought it was my eyes, but it was not, as this area felt super dark all throughout the performance of all four bands. MTELUS is an intimate concert space with good sightlinenes and reasonable drink prices. I saw Pixies there on July 8, 2025 and really enjoyed the experience. Admission was quick and simple. There's a bar off to the side with seating and TV views of the stage to let you take a load off between acts and a huge one at the back of the main theater with multiple bartenders to keep the booze flowing. The sound system is good and there seems to be adequate bathroom access for the listed 2,300-person capacity. The standing-room-only floor grades down so that you can see over taller patrons and still get reliable views of the stage, and there are drink tables spaced out so you can set your beverage down to clap for your act. And after dealing with the absolutely execrable LiveNation and their evil venues with $18 beers in the US, being able to get a tall can of Molson for $10CAD was positively a breath of fresh air. Only had drinks and a great time seeing Cat Empire during Montreal Jazz Fest. Wow! Service at the multiple bars was fast and no lines or attitude. Classy. read more

What an amazing concert I was just at the strambellas killed it :) Before the concert started I got to have a private tour and meet the band and take some pics, had to go around the back of the building to where the garbage was and got let in by there and walked down the back stairs to chill with them. Space was large downstairs but the stair case was kinda tiny other than that no complaints minus the smell of garbage lol but the dumpsters were there can't do much. Venu was great minus the face that the chairs were pretty high up when sitting upstairs so you're stuck in a weird half up could be standing position. Downstairs had tables with chairs you could hang out down there which I only saw later. Place is really clean and the woman was walking around picking up the beer cans instead of letting them pile up like most places. read more

This is the old Metropolis. They were closed down for a while due to renovations and recently reopened. Thankfully, the atmosphere of the old place is still intact and hasn't become another generic corporate, cookie-cutter anaesthetized venue space, a fate which has fallen on some of Montreals older venues like the Spectrum and Club Soda. I have tons of warm, fuzzy memories of shows I've attended here over the years, Billy Idol, Interpol, Jamiroquai, Die Antwoord, Peter Murphy (with Nine Inch Nails as an opening act!), Moby, Simple Minds, Pet Shop Boys, Rollins Band, and many others. So when I came last night to watch The Pixies, I was a little apprehensive but thankfully the place is still the same, a little spruced up but not by much. I came here to attend the Milky Chance concert, and was overall really impressed with the venue! The layout of the venue offers the option to choose whether you want to be close to the stage or on the upper floor, looking down. We opted for the floor and it was a great vibe to be right in the middle of the action! However, if you prefer to have your own personal space and a small counter where you can place your belongings and drinks on, I would opt for the upper floor. Another really cool aspect about this place is that the bartenders bring drinks into the crowd throughout the concert which is great because you can get another drink without having to lose your spot! The security team is also really respectful and helpful - something that is rare these days! My one downside with this place (that almost made me give it 3 stars) was the coat check. In theory, they have a great system set up which consists of 4 different coloured lines, but boy was it chaos at the end of the concert! The colour-coded system seemed more of a hindrance than anything else, and it took us nearly an hour to get our jackets as the line was a little disorganized. Overall, I really enjoyed this venue though, I would just try to avoid the coat check line next time! read more

I've only ever been to this venue twice. The first when it was still called Metropolis and I saw the 1975 for the first time and the second when I won tickets to see Milk n Bone this past Friday. Both experiences were wildly different. When I saw the 1975 I had to wait in line all day as it was general admission and sold out. It was cold, the venue was packed to the brim, and there were two opening acts so the concert lasted hours. But it was exhilarating! When I saw Milk N Bone, my cousin and I went to dinner a La Cage first and only got to the venue at 9pm (30 minutes after the doors opened). It was really empty at first so we got to choose where we wanted to stand and then throughout the concert we moved around. Much more breathing space. Even though people kept talking over the music. They have a balcony area with seats but I don't think sitting makes the concert very fun. I think your enjoyment of the venue depends on the artist you are seeing and the amount of people that will be there. It's generally quite uncomfortable when they cram people in but if you love the artist you will stand in that pit and let yourself be pushed and leaned on. read more

We went to see FKJ perform here and the venue was beautiful. Open space as well as lots of seating up above. The lighting and sound were excellent and even as someone who's on the shorter side I felt like I could see and hear well. My only complaint would be that the bathrooms were up on the second floor as it was a bit of a journey during the show and felt disruptive for the people that were sitting up above (also not sure how accessible it was) - but all in all this is a great venue. read more

I've seen so many shows here in the past couple of decades. I always go for the balcony because there are seats, the line of vision is awesome and the bars aren't crowded. Also, I'm too damned old to stand up front for hours anymore :-) Acoustics are always good, nice staff. It really is a great place to see a show. read more

Really amazing venue. The light and sound quality made it that much more memorable. There are several bars in the venue, floor and balcony seating. People walking the floors with cash only beer and water which was nice. The only complaint I have is the only restroom is on the second floor. read more

Was recently here to see Kevin Smith. I got tickets on the day of the show that cause a bit of a mix up. I ended up with a table ticket to a table they didn't put out a number for. Not only was staff very helpful, but they brought out a table and made room and made us our own table to watch the show. They went above and beyond, I hope I get a chance to see other acts in this awesome venue. Great sightlines from all over from what I saw, quite a bit of room for amazing crowds. This place is overcrowded. We got no place to stand during the concert. Securities are really rude, they speak to you in a rude tone.

Disappointing! Got tickets for a concert during Jazz Festival specifically because YELP reviews mentioned there were seats in the balcony. My husband has bad knees and cannot stand for long periods of time. Only after getting in that night did we find out that management had closed the balcony. NO EXPLANATION! What few chairs there were on the 1st floor had long since been taken. We were able to find a counter to lean on for a while but between the lack of seats, extreme heat that day and the bad sound system we ended up leaving shortly after the main act started. read more
