Ordered directly from their website and received the wrong part. Returned it within a couple of days following their process (called first, obtained a case number, filled out the return packing slip, and sent it back with tracking). The USPS confirmed that they received it on August 14th. It is now 11/3 and just got off the phone and they have no idea when my refund will be processed. Last time I am buying from them. This is the worst customer service I have ever received. Ordered a spark plug, air filter, fuel filter, and blade for my Cub Cadet. The only thing they sent that was correct for my mower was the blade. The rest were in boxes labeled as the correct part but whatever drunk they had in the warehouse put the wrong parts in the wrong boxes. I called and spoke to someone in the warehouse who verified the actual parts in the boxes were wrong and too big for my mower. I was then shuttled back to a customer service rep who told me they would email a shipping slip. That never happened. What transpired over the next MONTH was me making calls to them, them telling me they would email me a slip that never happened, me calling agian and them telling me that the packing slip and the boxes are marked correctly but the actual items inside the boxes are completely incorrect. They refuse to return the items unless I pay for shipping (again, whomever packed these in the warehouse messed up, not me) which I refuse to do. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE! According to the directions, once they receive the returned part, the correct part would be sent out. Still haven't received the correct part that I've paid for. Ordered a part for my Club Cadet. Thought this would be a reliable company but it is not. We only had the part one week and ran the tractor twice when it stopped working. When you call the number on the packing slip there is not a number to choose for customer service. I had to speak to someone in parts department and technical support as there are no other options. I was on hold for one 1 hour and 45 minutes before I had to disconnect. I phoned a second time in the afternoon and was on hold for 1 hour and 25 minutes when I was sent to customer service. I was then given another number to call the next day for level 2 customer service. Wish I had seen the reviews before ordering. Worse business practice I have ever been subjected to. I needed a battery on a cub cadet. They shipped it no problem, what was not clear is that it did not come with acid. I called and they said I could receive money back or I could go to a place to get acid. NOBODY around will fill and empty battery. When I called back to return it they now changed their tune and said YOU CANT RETURN BATTERIES!!!!! I asked why that is the case, IT HAS NO ACID IN IT, you guys shipped it to me, not to mention the last customer service said I could. They said, "you were told wrong, and that is our customer policy". So I basically paid $56 for a battery with no acid and I am not allowed to return it. I had the worst experience with this supplier. I had bought a battery for a driver mower, because it was only a year old, and I wanted to sell it, with a new battery. I ordered a battery from MTD Shelby Operations, received it, with no problem, the battery is completely dead. Can't even charge it, dead. So I have been calling for 3 months, either ha ve held on the phone for 2 1/2 hours,and finally had to hang up. And went on line and held for 3 hours, to chat, only to get the chat back asking my opinion of there service and then, a thank you. Gone. I am so upset on want my money back for a battery that doesn't even work, I have no way to contact these people. Worse experience I have ever had.6 months ago I ordered a belt for my mower. They charged my bank account every 3 days so their 97.49 would stay pending on my account for a month. They never mail the product. So I cancelled the order. Last week they charged my bank account again and mail the product after it was cancelled 5 months ago and refused to take it off my account. DON'T EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY! I ordered a wiring harness for our riding lawnmower and was sent the wrong part. I have attempted to call them a total of 18 times in 20 days. Every single time I was on hold, waiting for someone to answer, for over an hour. One time it was 2 hours and 15 minutes! I ended up calling their main office in Shelby, Ohio and was told that I needed to call another number. I called the alternate number and reached the same call center that had put me on hold all those times. I should have read these Yelp reviews before I did business with this company. I fear that my husband and I, who are elderly, are out nearly $200. I plan on reporting this company to the better business bureau. read more

The owner called me back and told me it was not the right part for my mower. I know MTD had good intentions but now I am out $400 with still no grass catcher due to their negligence in not informing me about, in writing or verbally, about their no return policy. Let's be honest, they make some of the cheaper lawn care products out there. You get what you pay for, but they generally get the job done just as well as more expensive products. What impressed me is that the parts people were very knowledgeable and helpful. I have a riding lawn mower that's almost 20 years old now and I bought it used. I needed some parts, it does not have a model number sticker, and I could not find any reference to its model specs online (in that way, their site mtdparts.com seems incomplete and could be better). I called the technical support rep and he helped me get my exact model number, year of manufacture, and told me the parts that I needed. It was really great and I would recommend their products because of it. read more

The customer service rep at MTD told me that a certain grass catch bag would fit my mower, based on the model number I provided. When it arrived, it didn't fit and was totally wrong for my mower It cost $65.00. MTD would not allow me to return the item that I would never have ordered in the first place had I not been wrongly advised that it was the right part. I mistakenly threw away an extended tube to our leaf blower thinking it was from a wet/vac. 9 months later I finally went online to see if I could find the part. I was lucky to find this company open on a Saturday morning and was assured they had the part. I ordered it and including shipping it was no more than about $13.00. It arrived today and is the RIGHT part. It was in a big box and I couldn't believe I could get this sent out all for $13.00 and now once again have a complete leaf blower. Thank you MTD.
