Well it's been 7 years since my last review thus it's time for an update.. Have things improved?…read more HAhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Yes, that is my answer. What a joke. Seven years and the only thing I can state is, unfortunately, a homeless man lived on the platform. Yes, it's awful, however, he looked menacing and I felt unsafe. When I asked the MTA personnel what is being done the answer I got was "Not the MTA's problem". Wow, I guess that was the best answer they got. It's improved a bit but there are numerous homeless sleeping on the train at this station. I think it's not just a police issue but the MTA personnel have to do more. The elevator construction in progress as you see in my picture has been going on for @2 years. As for the service, see my separate review for the R train. Enough said. This station gained another star for the elevator whenever it begins operation. As for me, I transfer off the R train at 59th and 4th because it's the sane thing to do.

Even though my home is in Queens, I still use this station to visit my parents' home. I have a love-hate relationship with this train station. For it is not a major or express stop on the N line and it is often overlooked. This station is 100 years old and in need of a facelift. Rumor has it that MTA is planning to fix up the N train stations from Coney Island to 59th Street. While this will cause major service disruptions and prolonged commute to the city, I will cross my fingers that two to three years later that it will be beautify and service will be better. You can only hope for the best, right?

Are you joking?…read more If I did not know what the Dyker Heights/Bensonhurst neighborhood was like, and I decided to take the N (which stands for "nasty") or D (which stands for "dirty") train here to check out the area, I would probably get right back on the train as soon as I got off. What a despicable gateway to the neighborhood the New Utrecht Avenue / 62nd Street subway station is. Having grown up in New York City, I understand that subway stations are not generally the benchmark of what is great about this place, but I am not even joking when I say that I am truly disgusted by this disastrous excuse for a transportation portal. I can't decide what I like least about this station - The crumbling paint (I'm sure it's chock full o' lead/asbestos), the putrid stench that permeates the filthy station house (which hilariously has bathrooms!) or perhaps the fact that if the atmospheric humidity outside is higher than 3%, something in here is dripping (or the floor is simply soaking wet/slippery which happens about 85% of the time). The platforms are in horrible disrepair (I am not kidding when I say that the roof on the upper platform has blown away [it is outdoors]). The sad part of it all is that I can really see that this station has good bones (being over-analytical here, but when you wait in this station for the N train as often and as long as I do [you know that shit never comes], you notice these things). The outside of the station house has some nice decorative tile motifs on it, the lower platform (where the N train runs) is formed by an arched colonnade (that is falling apart), etc. It would just take some general maintenance on part of the MTA to at least not make me fear for my life when I use this station. Not to mention that when you finally do make it through all the despair-inducing parts of the station, you step outside to face the highest quality elements any neighborhood could possibly offer - A check cashing place, a hot mess of a convenience store that isn't even really good enough to be called a Bodega and sidewalks so full of litter that I thought for a second that they were actually made of Tampico labels. I would love to actually see one of our hack local politicians use this station on a regular basis like I do - The state of it is an affront to the thousands of taxpayers who use it all the time and even worse is the fact that it's a hub for two major express lines (and a local line, the M train) that serve Southwest Brooklyn. Be on the lookout for falling pieces of ceiling, general filth and that warm, fuzzy third world feeling you get when you know you're in the wrong place. Welcome to the neighborhood!

The one star is for how filthy and unkempt this station is: it's a disconnect considering all the overtime transit workers put in and thus us the end result. It's insulting to all passengers to ride the subways and endure unsanitary conditions especially with a pandemic going on. I do not expect any improvements from the Governor or next Mayor. It's a very decent neighborhood it connects the D,N, R-trains to this station. it has an express track and a local track. the D & N- Train uses the express tracks, while the R-train uses the local tracks. (during late nights the D & N -Train runs the local tracks ).due to covid 19 panamedics all subway station across the five boroughs are closed for cleaning. This Train station stop connects with the B35 bus on 39 street & 4 street. while the B37 bus connects on 36 street and 3 street - (right under Gowanus expressway / connects with the Prospect expressway). there a lot of companies in the area. there the Costco store and the liberty industrial building - which rent out high-end retail stores, near this train station
