It's not something you really appreciate when you're going from class to class, but a lot of schools in Fresno/Clovis have a lot of cement. We had beautiful trees, hills, and lots of grass. #2 Silly ass lunch policies. I don't know how it is now, but when I would share stories with my husband he was always surprised that 9th-12th graders could go off for lunch. That small bit of 45 minute freedom was nice. #3 Our pep rallies. Again, when I was in school everybody went to the pep rallies. It was fun. #4 So, my husband went to one of our football games. Inevitability we lost, but that wasn't the point, he couldn't believe what the girls were wearing. As much as I bitched about our dress code, and that I couldn't wear halter tops (I still feel this way, I think it's silly that a back can't be shown) apparently we still have a little more revealing clothing than what my husband remembered when he went to school. #5 Pretty girls are bred here. I can't speak for the other high schools, but we had a very pretty class! Girls you'll realize this when you get out of Visalia, and boys you'll realize this when you leave too, but by this time it will be too late, because you would have already dumped your high school girlfriend. It's small enough that you know everybody in school, and big enough to decide what friends you want to associate yourself with. Stay away from the druggie, slutty ones kids!

My wife and I love the smaller class sizes and the teachers willingness to see that our girls succeed! The campus feels comfortable, safe and inviting. There's always something going on to enrich their experience - field trips, kite day, book fair, carnival, guest speakers and story tellers, student-led chapel, music and art. Parents are very involved in the class rooms. Highly recommend St. Paul's school!

This is a free, public, K-12 charter school founded by and for homeschool families. It is ideal…read morefor students who want to "own" their own education, not just jump through the hoops. Many of the high school students take the CHSPE exam and graduate early. Many of the high school students also take one or more classes at COS or Porterville College. Families are assigned an "education coordinator" who meets with them monthly, documents progress, and helps design a program of study that fits the student. There are also enrichment classes on campus. Check out the school's web page at www.erclc.org. I'm leaving the rating blank. It's great for some students and doesn't work for others. (Woops! It won't let me leave it blank. I'm giving it a 4, indicating my own approval, but whether it is right for you is something you will have to figure out for yourselves.) If you need lots of structure and someone telling you every move to make, this school is not for you.
