If you're looking for a place where motivation goes to die and time somehow moves both too fast and…read moretoo slow at the same time, Tulare Union High School is the perfect spot. Walking onto campus feels like stepping into a loop of the same day over and over again, except somehow each day gets more exhausting. The food? Let's just say it builds character... and possibly a stronger immune system. The lines are longer than the actual time you get to eat, so by the time you sit down, lunch is basically over. The classrooms are a mix of freezing cold or randomly hot, with no in-between. You either can't feel your fingers or you're trying not to fall asleep from the heat. And don't even get me started on the Wi-Fi--it works great if your goal is to not use it at all. Some teachers are cool, but others act like their class is the only one that exists, assigning enough homework to keep you busy until graduation. Spirit events are hyped up, but somehow still end up being awkward half the time. Overall, if you enjoy chaos, confusion, and wondering why you even showed up that day, this school might be for you. Otherwise... good luck.

However, I would not recommend this school to those utilizing veterans benefits that require more assistance like VR&E. The veteran's staff was extremely rude and disrespectful. I was belittled every time I reached out for help at their office. A staff member from another office also noted that they were being extremely unprofessional in their treatment towards me. A report was filled and unfortunately nothing was done about it.

5 stars now, not when I was actually IN high school. Boyfriends, cliques, no bandanna/halter top…read morepolicy, and superficial teachers aside, it was a great school. #1 The landscape. It's not something you really appreciate when you're going from class to class, but a lot of schools in Fresno/Clovis have a lot of cement. We had beautiful trees, hills, and lots of grass. #2 Silly ass lunch policies. I don't know how it is now, but when I would share stories with my husband he was always surprised that 9th-12th graders could go off for lunch. That small bit of 45 minute freedom was nice. #3 Our pep rallies. Again, when I was in school everybody went to the pep rallies. It was fun. #4 So, my husband went to one of our football games. Inevitability we lost, but that wasn't the point, he couldn't believe what the girls were wearing. As much as I bitched about our dress code, and that I couldn't wear halter tops (I still feel this way, I think it's silly that a back can't be shown) apparently we still have a little more revealing clothing than what my husband remembered when he went to school. #5 Pretty girls are bred here. I can't speak for the other high schools, but we had a very pretty class! Girls you'll realize this when you get out of Visalia, and boys you'll realize this when you leave too, but by this time it will be too late, because you would have already dumped your high school girlfriend. It's small enough that you know everybody in school, and big enough to decide what friends you want to associate yourself with. Stay away from the druggie, slutty ones kids!
