New Seasons is where I go when I want quality meats, seafood and produce and prepared foods. Their hot food, deli counter, salad bar and premade meals in the refrigerator section means quick, delicious and healthy meals without cooking or cleaning! For chili dinners and BBQs, I buy their cornbread from the bakery. I know its super easy to make, but their cornbread is so much better! They have a good selection of desserts from top local bakeries, including gluten free from Gem, saving me time since I can pick up something crowd pleasing while I get the rest of my groceries. When I need a specific amount of a particular grain, flour or nut for baking or cooking, their bulk section can't be beat. Plus the digital labeling makes checkout a breeze. Also like their natural herbs, soaps, deodorant section and feel prices are competitive. I've never had issues with parking, preferring the lot on top rather than underneath. Checkout lines are quick. Service friendly. New Seasons is a great addition to Grant Park bringing their own unique value and products to an area that already has a plethora of good grocery stores.

As example, today I had the cashier rudely snatched my bag out of my hand even after I indicated that I was going to bag my own groceries. Then in an effort to lighten the mood I asked her how she was doing today. She flatly responded, I guess it's OK. There was no reciprocal inquiry coming from her and once my credit card cleared she said I could go Lastly, The prices are ridiculous even when compared to Whole Foods. As example, a four pack of a local Oregon brewery is costing five dollars a more at new seasons than the Fred Meyer which is a three minute walk away. I never thought I would say it, but I'll only go there in an emergency. I'm more sad than anything else :-(

For my son's 6th bday cake (Fortnite theme) last year, we only did a half sheet and I think Danette also helped, but for the life of me, I can't remember who the other (main) person was, but I do remember the manager also assisted. My son's 2nd birthday cake was a Nightmare Before Christmas themed cake. He loved and still loves Halloween! The entire QFC Bakery staff at this location were amazing and so very helpful each and every time. Everyone always asks me where and who decorated my birthday cakes as they're show stoppers at my parties. We did my son's 5th bday party at Defy and I had random ppl stopping by just to admire the cake! LOL.. My guests also commented about how moist and delicious the cakes were which is really what I care most about with cakes as I loveee a good moist cake. I had already checked online ordering, which could only guarantee the cake at some unspecified time on Saturday, so I specifically called to make sure I could have the inscription done earlier. The woman I spoke with (in the bakery department) told me it was fine to come in today (Thursday, Sept. 10) and that she would add the inscription. Great! I drove over. When I arrived at 3 p.m., however, the bakery counter was empty. An employee from the neighboring sushi counter went to find someone for me. After I waited a full 10 minutes, she returned and told me that the person who does the cake writing had "left at 2." No one mentioned a 2 p.m. cutoff when I called. I was specifically told to come in, so I made the trip in good faith, waited at an unattended counter, and ultimately left without the service I had called ahead to arrange! Now I'm stuck writing "Happy Birthday" on the cake myself with a tube of grocery-store icing, when the entire reason I called ahead was to have it done professionally. I have a suggestion! If someone asks, how about the bakery staff give customers accurate information about when cake inscriptions are available! Simply telling me, "Be sure to come before 2 p.m." would have prevented the entire problem, and a very frustrating experience for a longtime customer.

As a whole the chain has gotten less "neighborly" and more "corporate" over the years, and this is not a good thing. With that said, though, it is still my favorite market, and it still bests its competitors. This location is comparatively small, and therefore, has a smaller selection than the other locations I frequent. The parking lot is also tiny, and the solitary semi trailer dock is on the front of the store, so maneuvering while a delivery is taking place is not a fun experience. The store itself is clean, but the produce department, at least on my visit, looked pretty poor...lots of empty bins, and lots of what was there looked past its prime. Despite the smaller size, I was still able to find most of what I came for. Prices for items you can buy at other grocery stores are unreasonably expensive (literally, double the price in some instances), but I'm happy to be able to purchase lots of vegan items here that I can't find anywhere else. Their store-branded baked goods are still staggeringly great, but individual rolls are now notably smaller than they used to be, and the cost about 33% more, too.

That covers a lot of bases. You will receive very friendly greetings and service here. In this day and age, that means a lot to me. I usually stop to get a cold drink when I work in the neighborhood, and there's a super-convenient bus stop just out on the sidewalk. They carry most everything you would find in a convenience store at the usual higher prices. Parking is a bit difficult. The parking lot is shared between vendors and customers, so if you're a pedestrian like me, pay attention. Entering from Barbur Blvd. is damn near impossible, so skip that because it's at a very busy intersection. It's best to enter off Hamilton at the side and you will make your life easier. The Lair Hill neighborhood really loves this family-run market so much so that when the property owner wasn't going to renew their lease in favor of allowing 7-11 to build there, the neighborhood association pitched a fit in 2001, and Swan Mart got to stay. That's a vote of confidence in my book.
