Whoever is the front staff/receptionist please get a new one. Doesn't answer for 5+ days. Sends wrong prescriptions to out of state pharmacies...like to Kansas when we're clearly in SC??? When psychiatrists know that medicine for specific types of disorders are TIME SENSITIVE, but don't call back or give any updates legit for a WEEK leaving a patient without medicine...that is POOR service and actually doing a DISSERVICE. We will be switching providers soon. And judging from reading another review this happens often of the office just not answering. Do NOT recommend this place. read more

It is said that "feeling understood" is the deepest human need. That said, my needs are being met here in every way possible. Read further if you're interested in an insurance story. With what could've been an incredible mess regarding insurance companies and their payment, they've made it so easy on me! It's strange to feel underinsured when one is overinsured. My bride's healthcare policy happens to be my secondary as I am disabled and Medicare is my primary provider. However (prepare for curveball). The provider, while the primary provider does accept Medicare - my provider is not seen as acceptable by Medicare's standards so Medicare does not pay anything. This triggers my secondary, which is billed here as my primary (see above paragraph). They will not pay simply because my primary has not paid. In conversation they say they need a letter of denial of service (which Mt. P Psychiatry does accept, but my individual provider cannot) which isn't true and cannot be provided as the entire operation operates under one tax code. So now I am to look through my summaries of service from Medicare and send them to my secondary insurance so they will be informed that in this case - they are my primary and will pay for all of the services going forward as well as those which have previously been denied. Wow. I'm not a lawyer, this stuff makes my head swim and is all the more reason to need to have my head shrunken further. Yikes. Have a pleasant day. read more

I've emailed and called several times regarding the appointment I was scheduled to have yesterday 10/18 at 11:45am with Dr. Summerall. I received two text confirmations for the appointment and no information whatsoever about rescheduling prior to the appointment, so when I showed up to the appointment at 11:45am the doors were locked, the lights were off, and no one was answering the phones. I received a call yesterday afternoon from Lisa where she said that Dr. Summerall is not in the office and that we must have "gotten our wires crossed" even though I spoke with Lisa directly on 10/9 to schedule the appointment and have received two text message confirmations (including one the morning of the appointment). When she finally returned my call several hours after my appointment time passed, she offered minimal apology and glazed over the situation by skipping straight to needing to reschedule the appointment for next week. Now, I just received an automated message from your reminder service that I missed an appointment yesterday and may be charged for it. I am very disappointed and frustrated by these chain of events. I have been a client of MPP for several years, and this is the first time I have ever had a negative experience. Unfortunately, I took time off of work specifically for this 10/18 appointment with Dr. Summerall, and I am unable to take more time off for an appointment that may or may not happen. Dr. Summerall is a fantastic doctor, and I've only had wonderful experiences with her. The current office staff leaves a lot more to be desired and should be reevaluated since they clearly do not have the same professionalism that Dr. Summerall and previous office staff have always shown. read more

Dr. Summerall is wonderful. She's easy to talk to, and open to various treatment options.

First off, I love Dr. Summerall. I find speaking with her very easy and have been happy with my treatment. However, I'm now in a place where I need to find a new practice due to the complete inability of the office staff to respond to, well, pretty much anything. I have not been able to get an appointment in six months. When you are mentally ill, receiving continuous care is essential. They canceled an appointment I had scheduled in November the same day, stating they would get in touch with me to reschedule. Weeks went by with no contact, and once Christmas was getting close I knew I wouldn't be able to be seen before needing to travel home for the holidays, I requested a medication refill and for someone to please get with me on scheduling an appointment in the new year as I had never heard back from the appointment they canceled. Got the medication, not the appointment. At this point I was frustrated, as I am of the belief that when you are working with sick people, whether physical or mental, part of their care is being responsive by whomever appropriate in the office. I have not received this. I first experienced it with them changing an appointment time same day with no notice, then with the cancellation and no follow up. So after a couple months I reached out again, noting that I would need an appointment for a checkup and refill. No response. I tried again, received a follow up email asking which provider I wanted to see, responded, then of course, no response. I requested AGAIN a few days later only to receive an email back "We never received a request from you." I literally had a response to my previous request from that very person at that very email address in my inbox. I shouldn't have to fight for this. Naturally, I have not heard back after multiple more attempts. Due to all of this, I have not been seen since August. I wish Dr. Summerall could find better office staff, because I am not happy with having to find a new doctor. Anyone who has dealt with these issues knows that finding someone you trust to speak with can be extremely difficult. I now have to be on a search for a new one during a global pandemic. If you can't handle responding to simple appointment requests, maybe a busy doctor's office catering to mentally ill patients isn't the best workplace for you. read more

I never imagined I would be receiving my care through virtual technology and in the beginning I was hesitant. The care I continue to receive from Dr. Summerall is amazing and in my case, life saving. The connection and confidential site is easy because office staff walk you through set up and are always there to help if I need it.
