    The goods - VN

Founded in 1926 by Shikrey Baddour, Mt. Olive has a loaded arsenal of products which includes relishes, pickles in a variety of styles including dill, gherkins, sour and bread & butter, also pickle juice, jalapeno peppers, pickled onions, banana peppers, okra, roasted red peppers and pepperoncini. THE GOODS: Petite Snack Crunches (Kosher Dill) I opened our refrigerator in search of a pickle to accompany my sandwich. Remembering that we had a jar of nasty, soggy Vlasic-brand pickles, I was stoked to see that my spouse bought a jar of pickles from a brand I've never tried before. Great purchase is all I can say. The mini, whole pickles were easy to eat, super crunchy and not overly salty like those that are cut open and marinating in the sodium-laced pickle juice. Highly recommended! TIP: Check out their website to view a plethora of recipes, including a pickle martini, bloody mary pickle shots, even peanut butter & pickle pancakes. OVERALL: Definitely going to make some air fryer pickle chips with this brand next!

Mount Olive is not a part of North Carolina that I get to but I'm glad that they've worked out how to export their products to where I do get to. I love, love, love Mt. Olive Pickles. Since I've started my keto diet, I've been eating a bunch of them as is, but my favorite product these days is the Sweet Relish. They sweeten it with Splenda, not sugar! So now I can guilt-free add it to egg salad and tuna salad. I had a hot dog this week and it was ten times better with Mt. Olive pickle relish! Love your stuff and I need to find a way to get to Mt. Olive! [Review 11363 overall, 1140 of 2019.]

Mt. Olive Pickle Co. has been pouring brine over cucumbers and sliced peppers since 1926 from their small town factory on Business Route 117 in central east North Carolina. Lucky for me I didn't have to drive down there from Bucks County, PA, to find their excellent products, but only make the short trip to the local supermarket to purchase a few jars of my home grilled hamburger's friendly companion, the Hot Banana Pepper Rings. Randomly placed atop a medium finish burger, grilled red onion, maybe a dash of Pecos Pete, and a deep red long squirt of ketchup, and I have myself a better stuffed potato bun than any fast foodary can duplicate. Crisp, spicy hot, with a touch of sweet following behind, these skinnies add a ton of flavor to the sandwich. The brine runs through this creation, making interesting combinations of taste that are pleasingly unexpected discoveries. The oral explosion and tongue teasing makes cooking at home during this Age of Covid-19 much more bearable, if not damned near enjoyable enough to momentarily forget the quarantine. It is surprising that a relatively small company like Mt. Olive has managed to remain independent and not been acquired by a larger conglomerate. Hopefully, that day will never come, and I can continue to hang out at the corner of Cucumber & Vine for many more years.

There is no official tour of this plant. When you arrive tell the guard you want to go to the gift shop. It's on the corner of Cucumber and Vine Street (this is not made up). They have a few shelves of promotional items for sale. If you ask about a plant tour you can watch a video that lasts 15 minutes on the pickle process. Then they let you select one of their products to take home complimentary. There were people buying cases of products while we were there. This is not a destination trip but if you are passing by and have time it may be something to do.

"Come on Dad do we really have to take a picture at the pickle place?"

I finally made it to the Mt. Olive Pickle Parlor when it was open, and I could go inside! I'd been…read morewanting to go to Mt. Olive's Pickle Gift Shop since it was located inside the Mt. Olive Pickle Company. Then last year, I saw that The Pickle Parlor opened. I did stop by last July, but I knew the Pickle Parlor wouldn't be open, so I stopped anyway and peeked in the windows. The Pickle Parlor is located in Downtown Mt. Olive. It serves as a gift shop and museum for Mt. Olive Pickle. The store is around 3,000 square feet. When you walk inside, you will first notice the bar area and the shiny ceilings. The decor resembles that of the 1920s, as Mt. Olive Pickle opened in 1926. The ceilings replicate punched tin. The colors in the store match the brand colors. There are photos of Mt. Olive employees on the walls, too. In the back of the store are some chairs and a TV playing a video about Mt. Olive Pickles' 100 years. The area is shaped like a pickle barrel. This is the best way to see how Mt. Olive Pickle operates, as tours of the facility are not offered. Some of the walls have details about the history of the company among the items for sale. They sell everything from t-shirts to hats to tote bags to ornaments to cotton candy to koozies to umbrellas to popcorn to pickles to relishes to even some of the canned dill pickle soda. The bar has regular sodas available, too. If you can't make it to the store, they have an online store and can ship items to you. The video is also available on the website in the FAQS section about tours. I did expect to sample some pickles as I had read about a "pickle bar". I did get to sample the pickle soda when I asked about it. It is bright green, but I enjoyed it and even bought a can to take with me. It is a unique taste. After you finish your visit to the Pickle Parlor, the Train Depot is located behind the store. After you see the Mt. Olive Pickle Mural, keep going and turn right. There will be a sign for the Train Depot. Then, on the other side of the train tracks that run through the center of town, are two more murals: one was recently completed by Max Dowdle, as he is painting a mural in each county of NC, and the other is a tribute to Mt. Olive.

So much pickle merchandise! Everything is just really fun. Their merchandising team are geniuses. Now, the website said that their hours are only Monday through Friday. But somewhere on the Internet had mentioned that they started opening on Saturdays in April 2026. We called before we made the drive just to make sure they were open, and they indeed were going to be open from nine to one. Cedric was the gentleman working when we got there and he was super helpful. He told us that the stickers and magnets by the guestbook were free before we could ask. He went upstairs to look for a specific T-shirt for me. And when he saw how many pickles we were buying, he asked if we wanted to try some. We of course said yes! I had thought on the website it mentioned pickle tasting, so I was a little sad when it wasn't offered right away. But Cedric explained that they don't do pickle tastings on Saturdays, at least not yet. He gave us two different types of pickles, some pickle soda, and some dill peanuts! It was all actually good (the soda surprised me!) If you love pickles I would definitely check this place out. All the prices seemed very reasonable to me. The T-shirt I bought was only $15 and I got 5 jars of different pickles for another $15 (so $30 total!) such a fun day trip!

The trainer was a piece of shit and messed up both of my orders. The new girl was making my sandwich, and the trainer was making my boyfriend's. The trainer fucked up and was making the same sandwich as the new girl. Then instead of fixing it, the dumb bitch doesn't start over. No. She continues to fuck up both sandwiches. She gave us the wrong bread for both sandwiches (I said Italian white bread and they give me Italian multi grain). She put the wrong cheese on both sandwiches and instead of starting over, she just threw the correct cheese on top. I had extra bacon ordered for my sandwich that the new girl was making, my sandwich. Well, the trainer made the new girl make my boyfriends sandwich out of what she had, I ordered bacon egg and cheese and my boyfriend ordered a BLT. The new girl already had extra bacon and cheese (mozzarella) already lined in the bread when the trainer made her add lettuce and everything for the BLT that was supposed to have American cheese. On the other sandwich, which was supposed to be the BLT, she had American cheese on it and started making it the bacon egg and cheese out of it. When I told her that was supposed to be mozzarella cheese, not American, she just adds a little bit of mozzarella on top and closes it. What type of management has this idiot training people! AVOID HERE IF YOU WANT YOUR SANDWICH MADE ACCURATELY. THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE TRAINING TO THEIR EMPLOYEES??? Fuck that. That poor new girl. I would HATE having to work with that dumb bitch all day. Not to mention, at some point she added a shit load of pepper to the bacon egg and cheese. I couldn't even eat my sandwich at all it was fucked up so bad. Money straight down the drain and I still have to find something to eat.
