I finally made it to the Mt. Olive Pickle Parlor when it was open, and I could go inside! I'd been wanting to go to Mt. Olive's Pickle Gift Shop since it was located inside the Mt. Olive Pickle Company. Then last year, I saw that The Pickle Parlor opened. I did stop by last July, but I knew the Pickle Parlor wouldn't be open, so I stopped anyway and peeked in the windows. The Pickle Parlor is located in Downtown Mt. Olive. It serves as a gift shop and museum for Mt. Olive Pickle. The store is around 3,000 square feet. When you walk inside, you will first notice the bar area and the shiny ceilings. The decor resembles that of the 1920s, as Mt. Olive Pickle opened in 1926. The ceilings replicate punched tin. The colors in the store match the brand colors. There are photos of Mt. Olive employees on the walls, too. In the back of the store are some chairs and a TV playing a video about Mt. Olive Pickles' 100 years. The area is shaped like a pickle barrel. This is the best way to see how Mt. Olive Pickle operates, as tours of the facility are not offered. Some of the walls have details about the history of the company among the items for sale. They sell everything from t-shirts to hats to tote bags to ornaments to cotton candy to koozies to umbrellas to popcorn to pickles to relishes to even some of the canned dill pickle soda. The bar has regular sodas available, too. If you can't make it to the store, they have an online store and can ship items to you. The video is also available on the website in the FAQS section about tours. I did expect to sample some pickles as I had read about a "pickle bar". I did get to sample the pickle soda when I asked about it. It is bright green, but I enjoyed it and even bought a can to take with me. It is a unique taste. After you finish your visit to the Pickle Parlor, the Train Depot is located behind the store. After you see the Mt. Olive Pickle Mural, keep going and turn right. There will be a sign for the Train Depot. Then, on the other side of the train tracks that run through the center of town, are two more murals: one was recently completed by Max Dowdle, as he is painting a mural in each county of NC, and the other is a tribute to Mt. We drove an hour and a half on a Saturday morning to come visit Mount Olive, North Carolina. This pickle parlor is absolutely adorable! So many different pickles to choose from! So much pickle merchandise! Everything is just really fun. Their merchandising team are geniuses. Now, the website said that their hours are only Monday through Friday. But somewhere on the Internet had mentioned that they started opening on Saturdays in April 2026. We called before we made the drive just to make sure they were open, and they indeed were going to be open from nine to one. Cedric was the gentleman working when we got there and he was super helpful. He told us that the stickers and magnets by the guestbook were free before we could ask. He went upstairs to look for a specific T-shirt for me. And when he saw how many pickles we were buying, he asked if we wanted to try some. We of course said yes! I had thought on the website it mentioned pickle tasting, so I was a little sad when it wasn't offered right away. But Cedric explained that they don't do pickle tastings on Saturdays, at least not yet. He gave us two different types of pickles, some pickle soda, and some dill peanuts! It was all actually good (the soda surprised me!) If you love pickles I would definitely check this place out. All the prices seemed very reasonable to me. The T-shirt I bought was only $15 and I got 5 jars of different pickles for another $15 (so $30 total!) such a fun day trip! read more

My partner and I arrived in Mt. Olive to attend the New Years Eve pickle drop on 12/31. It was a great time and worth the drive. We wanted to visit the Pickle Parlor, but it was closed on New Year's Day. We decided to stay an extra day in Mt. Olive so we could visit the parlor on the 2nd and go to a restaurant there named Ribeye steak house. We arrived at 10:30 and noticed other groups from Alabama and Kentucky there as well. Unfortunately it was closed. No notice.. nothing. Maybe the person just didn't show. All of us were definitely disappointed as to have wasted our time and money spent on hotel rooms and food just to stay to visit. I wrote the Chamber of Commerce to ask what happened. Will see if I get a response and will maybe try again next year. read more

I was so excited to learn that this place opened. We took a day trip from Raleigh to check out the newly opened Mt. Olive Pickle Parlor. The place itself was a cool idea as there was an area in which you could read about the history of Mt. Olive pickles. There was also an informative video to watch. There were several gift items available for purchase and pickles available for purchase. I thought there was supposed to be tastings or pickle drinks for purchase. Maybe there was supposed to be, but the woman working there hates her job. When we entered the store we were not greeted at all. I finally said hello to the woman behind the counter and she was put out by that gesture. There was a sign that said "pickle of the day". We asked what that was about and she simply replied "those two jars". No further information was provided. Why would they employ someone who is completely incapable of interacting with other humans in any way shape or form? I was extremely disappointed and it's really sad because if they had an employee with an ounce of customer service or personality it would have been an amazing experience. As is, I do not recommend anyone waste their time to go there. read more

Went to check out Mt. Olive pickle palor today. Needless to say it was quite disappointing. When we entered the shop their were two employees and no customers. We were ignored upon entering the shop by both employees. A small town shop like this highlighting the local claim to fame Mt Olive pickles I expected some kind of "welcome to the shop" or some acknowledgement of our existence. My wife cheerfully said good morning to the two employees who were less than thrilled that she spoke to them. We browsed the shop for a few minutes, there were pickled themed trinkets and many shirts, hoodies and hats. Most of the trinkets and clothing had no price. The one plain black polo with a one inch or so Mt Olive logo on the sleeve was priced at $109. You read that right $109. We asked one of the employees that made it clear they couldn't be bothered with us about a sign that mentioned a pickle of the day. The employee said "yeah, those two jars" lackadaisicaly motioning to a counter (again as if she could not be bothered with us). She neglected to take the opportunity to interact with us about the pickle of the day, what it was, why it was pickle of the day or offer us one to try. We entered a small room with a TV and some chairs and watched a well produced video about Mt. Olive, their background and the process of producing their pickles. All in all the shop had a bad vibe, no priced or over priced trinkets and clothes and what I would describe as zero charm. What a missed opportunity for their community. I think even Pete Picke was disappointed. read more

Leaving a 5 star review to try to make up for the 2 star reviews left on here by a husband and wife that didn't have a good experience. My husband and I visited on a Friday and we had the total opposite experience of what the other couple posted. We were immediately welcomed in, both ladies working were friendly and helpful. We watched the video first which was very informative and then we headed to the bar for a tasting. They had several samples available. And they even offered to give us more samples on the way out but we didn't want to take advantage! We tried the Majestic smoky bbq bread and butter pickles, mushrooms, carrots and pickles from their regular line that were spicy, but I can't remember exactly which ones they were. We also sampled the pickle soda which was light and tasty! I wanted to buy some but completely forgot because I was distracted by the other merchandise. I really wanted to buy a t-shirt but was disappointed the Mt. Olive ones didn't say pickles on it or anything. Didn't really love any of the other designs either, but we bought some jars of pickles and we each bought a pickle pin. Definitely a fun stop if you're in the area! read more
