If I haven't mentioned it before, there's just something about going into a supermarket and looking for those gems that I can't find in my own local grocery. I am obsessed with visiting supermarkets when I go on vacay. Sad, but true. And this time was no exception - especially when it's called the "Piggly Wiggly." I mean, come on! I went in there like a tourist, grinning from ear to ear. "Why is this woman taking a picture of the store??" My lasting impression? Homemade cracklin', and banana pudding. I don't remember seeing the name tag of the checkout cashier, but she had short blue hair and rhinestones at the top of her glasses. She has consistently been the best cashier I've dealt with over the past year (not just at the Piggly Wiggly, but any grocery store i've visited). She was polite and pleasant, properly treated delicate food items (ie, eggs); properly bagged meats, frozen and cold items; and didn't overfill the bags to the point that the handles broke while carrying them. She also evenly distributed the items in the cart so that the cart wouldn't tip over when it went over the raised metal plate when walking out the door. I wish all cashiers were like her! read more

I like the grocery store itself. Lately, I've felt that the deli has declined in quality of food and service; and today is probably my last visit to the deli. I rushed to get there before the deli was supposed to close before the posted time of 4pm because a family member expressed that they were wanting some potato salad and pasta salad from the deli. I was standing in front of the deli counter at 3:40PM. I noticed most, but not all of the food was already put away. One of the things I had been asked to pick up was potato salad which was still in the case. I stood there roughly 5 minutes before anyone asked if they could help me. I asked for a medium container of potato salad and the woman said no, because they were already closed. I looked at my watch and it was 3:46PM. It would be nice if the Piggly Wiggly would post schedule changes in advance so that we don't waste our time and gas. I was planning on buying groceries in addition to getting a couple of things from the deli, but I was so ticked off by the rude woman and my wasted trip that I put my cart back and went to Walmart. read more

The branch located in Mount Olive, NC is not bad, but as far as the pharmacy goes, managers could do a lot better about hiring employees with better customer service skills! I spoke as politely as I could to the pharmacist, she cut me off mid-sentence, was rude and hung up on me! My two cents is if you don't like your job leave! Do it right or don't do it all, that is what you get paid for! I will not be going back to this pharmacy!! Two thumbs down! Your employees are the face of your business. read more
