Commuting home from work, I always passed Spring Hill and knew proximity-to-home wise, it was my best option. Little did I know, location would be eclipsed by the people I met and the experience my mother had in her last days. I walked in without an appointment, but out of desperation on a Friday morning and was introduced to my first friendly face, Rosa. Although not on duty as a tour giver that day, she took the time to give me a detailed walk through the beautiful facility, showing us the progress of their new renovations and answering some of my general questions. It was not the renovations that sold me, although mom was lucky enough to have a renovated room, but how Rosa treated all of the residents in the common areas and also how they responded to her. That kindness never retired. I began to move forward with the process of getting all of mom's finances and medical care/ medications in order when I met Shari. Shari is the director of the nursing team and a very very special human being. Her accessibility and communication skills are matched only by her compassion and the dignity she offered to my mother. Making multiple house calls in one week to assess my mom's condition and staying in constant contact with me during the process, Shari continued to go above and beyond throughout the entirety of my mother's stay at Spring Hill. On move-in day (an impressive one week after my initial, unannounced walk-in tour with Rosa) I met many dedicated workers who helped me with bringing in my mothers furniture. They helped me more than I could have ever imagined. Ken Halsey was the manager and he made me feel completely at ease. Very accessible by phone for me and was attentive to all of my questions/concerns. He was the one who was able to make it possible for my mother to get quality care quickly. Unfortunately, mom only spent about one month at Spring Hill before passing away, but I always felt like I was immediately part of their family. The place has a kindness that I am grateful for and appreciative of because my mom was at peace. When I came back, all of the staff would tell me how they loved working with my mother. It was more than just words. They had stories of how they enjoyed my mother and that made me feel that it was reciprocal. Overall, I will forever be grateful for the people such as Ken, Shari, and Rosa for taking care of my mother and letting her have the dignity to live her final days the way she enjoyed.

Management acts like they are going to do something, but never follow-through. She has the same lunch, every single day (grilled cheese) - that is if she's lucky enough to even have them remember to bring her meals. Her room has been infested with bugs and rodents (mice), and it took multiple phone calls and in-person complaints to actually have someone do something about it. The turnover there is tremendous - we've been through at least four executive directors, concierge, nurses and aides. The adage, "don't judge a book by its cover" certainly applies to SpringHills.

Cadbury has been sold several times over the years, with each owner worse than the last. There's constant staff turn over at every level, phone calls aren't returned and it's a safe bet that the person you speak with this week wont be there next week. In a recent experience I received better service from their outsourced billing department than from the folks who were responsible managing my mother's care. In short, don't stop here for your loved one's care, keep looking.

Sending her here was the worst thing I could have done. They put her in a room where it was dirty, & after 5 days, I finally stripped her bed & changed her sheets & had to call for a cleaning service. They were not taking care of her either. Nobody came in to help get her cleaned up or bothered to ask her what her dietary needs were. The food was disgusting!!! They rarely came to check on her & I finally lost it! I complained to the Director of nurses who made alot of excuses that were actually insulting to my intelligence! I went to the head of every department because of their lack of care! How can anyone get well in a place like this without proper care or nourishment? I was running everyday, taking her food so she could get her strength back! Upon arrival, 2 separate mornings, there was breakfast, a stale piece of toast that broke when I picked it up & a fried log potato, ice cold & greasy!. It was disgusting!!! My mom is a diabetic & every meal was loaded with carbs!! Cold, gross food full of carbs! No exaggeration here!!! Are they serious??!!! The state needs to go into these places, & either shut them down or revamp the conditions & get people in there that actually give a damn about their patients! Instead they have so many Agency nurses who don't give a damn! That was obvious! I finally had to call an ambulance to get her out of there as she was going downhill fast! Her help light was on for an hour & nobody came! When I got there she was having difficulty breathing so I called for an ambulance to get her to the hospital. She's been in the hospital for a week now & she's so much better. Thankfully I got her out of there!!! They need a huge wake up call. Take care of our loved ones!!! Make like it's your family member laying there needing help!!! Had it not been for a gentleman by the name of Mustaffa who actually did the intake, I would have lost my mind! In the whole place, there were only 2 nurses & this gentleman who sincerely cared & helped when they were on duty. It was shameful BTW, there was also a mouse running around in her room & they never called for an exterminator! Disgusting!!!!!. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONES IN THIS PLACE!!!

It's a huge building with lots of senior services including an adult daycare, Home Health Aides, very reasonably cost senior transportation, and a host of other programs that they offer to low income senior citizens in Camden and Burlington county. I'm very fortunate my mother lives in their catchment area as she needs the medical transportation. We've just begun this relationship with this organization and I've been impressed with how they manage to provide services even though they are operating on such a low-budget. I was happy to make a donation to them as I could see it goes directly into helping seniors like my mother. The staff there is so pleasant to work with and are dedicated and do such a good job. I will say however that because of the low budget and staffing and the reduced number of hours with the medical transport you have to make the calls in on time in the morning to schedule and it's required two weeks in advance for scheduling medical appointments and you have to call the day before to confirm every appointment. With more money I'm sure they can become more and more automated in this process or at least have more vans and more staff available. My mother said that so far the drivers were very nice and they were on time and that they drive good too. And that is high praise from my mother.
