It all happened so fast, but I never felt alone. Once my mom fell for the second time, I knew I no longer had the ability to care for her alone. Commuting home from work, I always passed Spring Hill and knew proximity-to-home wise, it was my best option. Little did I know, location would be eclipsed by the people I met and the experience my mother had in her last days. I walked in without an appointment, but out of desperation on a Friday morning and was introduced to my first friendly face, Rosa. Although not on duty as a tour giver that day, she took the time to give me a detailed walk through the beautiful facility, showing us the progress of their new renovations and answering some of my general questions. It was not the renovations that sold me, although mom was lucky enough to have a renovated room, but how Rosa treated all of the residents in the common areas and also how they responded to her. That kindness never retired. I began to move forward with the process of getting all of mom's finances and medical care/ medications in order when I met Shari. Shari is the director of the nursing team and a very very special human being. Her accessibility and communication skills are matched only by her compassion and the dignity she offered to my mother. Making multiple house calls in one week to assess my mom's condition and staying in constant contact with me during the process, Shari continued to go above and beyond throughout the entirety of my mother's stay at Spring Hill. On move-in day (an impressive one week after my initial, unannounced walk-in tour with Rosa) I met many dedicated workers who helped me with bringing in my mothers furniture. They helped me more than I could have ever imagined. Ken Halsey was the manager and he made me feel completely at ease. Very accessible by phone for me and was attentive to all of my questions/concerns. He was the one who was able to make it possible for my mother to get quality care quickly. Unfortunately, mom only spent about one month at Spring Hill before passing away, but I always felt like I was immediately part of their family. The place has a kindness that I am grateful for and appreciative of because my mom was at peace. When I came back, all of the staff would tell me how they loved working with my mother. It was more than just words. They had stories of how they enjoyed my mother and that made me feel that it was reciprocal. Overall, I will forever be grateful for the people such as Ken, Shari, and Rosa for taking care of my mother and letting her have the dignity to live her final days the way she enjoyed. read more

My mother has been a resident there since 2013. In that time, she has had jewelry stolen, personal items taken, and "lost" laundry. Management acts like they are going to do something, but never follow-through. She has the same lunch, every single day (grilled cheese) - that is if she's lucky enough to even have them remember to bring her meals. Her room has been infested with bugs and rodents (mice), and it took multiple phone calls and in-person complaints to actually have someone do something about it. The turnover there is tremendous - we've been through at least four executive directors, concierge, nurses and aides. The adage, "don't judge a book by its cover" certainly applies to SpringHills. read more

A series of unkept promises, verbal assurances, and reiterations of "We will continue to have your loved one's best interests at heart got to be too much. Threatening legal action we removed our relative from this mess of a pace. Know the adage about "all show, no action?" Well, that's this joint. Looked great during the tour, with a command performance by Faith Ritter in Sales department. She'd said that despite all the avenues a family and individual had for addressing inconsistencies or complaints, she would always be an "open door for action" on any immediate concerns we had. Well, her door was always open, but no one could find her when we called or made appointments. Empty office, empty promises. Unreturned calls, unmet appointments. Took the money and ran to an undisclosed location. The main problem seemed to be, after our relative moved in, a huge turnover of staff at all levels. Trainees were the norm, and talking to longer-term residents, even they had no idea who most of the staff was, as the veterans had been removed or quit, no doubt because someone cheaper had been found. It's vitally important to find a place with intact, caring, professional staff. The extra work involved in moving an elderly person to a new location (which we found nearby, and has proved to be excellent) can be traumatic, and there was a decided lack of care and professionalism at all levels at Spring Hills. The only families who might think their wishes are being carried out here would be those who live elsewhere, never visit, and "phone it in" regarding a loved one's care. Any families who like to visit, take a hands-on approach, and want the reality to match (or even approximate) the sales brochure are encouraged to run, not walk, to a different location and company, one that does hold profit miles above any other value. read more

This facility looks like a highly rated hotel, e.g., magnificent chandlers as you enter, a grand piano to the left, beautiful courtyard ahead, etc. The fact is, it was a hotel originally. It was not built to be an assisted living facility and in pales in comparison to those that were. I just moved my parents out after almost two years. Here's what I've learned: 1. Don't judge an assisted living facility by its ambience. 2. Don't buy into the marketing, their main objective is the bottom line. Business is business so that's fair, however, marketing promises are quickly forgotten. 3. Visit frequently to access care, weekend staffing (consistently short-handed prior to and during the Covid outbreak, the latter is understandable), room maintenance, and dining services among other things. 4. Senior management inside and outside the facility talk the talk, but don't walk the walk. Two Executive Directors (site leader position) resigned within the last year. 5. It appears middle management and their staffs are trained to say yes to all requests. As a result, some requests are fulfilled, however, most are not. 6. Nurses, Caregivers, Facility and Services personnel and the Food Service staff appear to be underpaid, overworked and have very poor morale. Some soldier through because they are dedicated, caring, and focused on resident care above all else. These are the true superstars and they have our undying respect, gratitude and love. Others show their frustration by acting out, shirking responsibilities, and being disrespectful to the residents. I think you get the point and hope this helps those looking for an assisted living facility for themselves or their loved ones. I have to admit, writing this was very therapeutic. Spring Hills does not meet their contractual obligations. they currently owe my mother of $7,000 due to billing her for medication dispensing and level of care costs while she was in the hospital and than a rehab facility. She needs more care than is available at Spring Hills, and therefore gave up her residency on June 30, 2018. Contractually, they had 45 days to refund this money 72 days later they have not her money that really should not have been billed. Calls do not get returned and the action promised does not happen. These type of issues have been a problem from day 1, but not at the financial scale of this refund due. read more

In order to express our gratitude, we are sharing our experience with Springhills Assisted Living in Cherry Hill, NJ. Since 2014, we have had 2 family members reside at SH. To provide a bit of background, we are in the Healthcare field and have knowledge of healthcare regulations. Given this, as well as our love for our family members, we had very high expectations for life and care delivery at SH. We interviewed several other AL's in the area and chose SH given their model of care and willingness to accommodate our needs. We have been very happy with our decision. Initially, both of our family members were independent. Over the last year, health and care concerns began to arise with our family members who were residing together at SH. Throughout the summer and into the Fall/Winter season, we had many strategy and planning meetings with the Administrator and Nursing Director (ND) to address and problem solve these issues as they arose. During this stressful time, the Administrator and ND were both extremely accessible, responsive and helpful with suggestions as to how we could manage the issues to both our, and our family members, satisfaction. Without going into detail, these issues were complex and intermingled between our Mother and Aunt, and both the Administrator and ND were instrumental in working with us to address and resolve them. While receiving care in both the AL and Memory Care Unit, all of the Nurses and Aides were pleasant, helpful and caring. When we did have concerns, which is not unexpected in some situations, the Leadership was responsive in following up on the occurrence. In addition, they were transparent in providing any requested information regarding the care and followed up on any of the issues/action items determined to be problematic. One area that can hopefully improve is the quality and preparation of the food. Having good tasting, high quality and consistently well prepared food is such an important aspect for the residents and can really enhance satisfaction. Our understanding is that these areas are also being addressed. Having our family members at SH since 2014, we have had the experience of interacting with multiple Administrative and Nursing Directors and can attest that the current Leadership are making a positive impact on the daily lives of the residents. read more

For the price and for how stunning the place looks, it just did not live up to my expectations for my mom. The food is truly horrible. On the plus side, the nurses there do their very best to care for residents. I would not recommend Spring Hills to another family looking for a home for their parent or family member. read more

You can thank Spring Hills Senior Communities Cherry Hill Next time you hire someone from the kitchen that is a man make sure they are from the streets or a follower. The one guy in the kitchen was very nasty. He threatens physical violence and says whatever he wants to me and another women that I witnessed. He wants to know me more so he could try to be an emotional bully to me, by making fun of me, putting me down , yelling at me. I was trying to relate with him and be friendly , so that is why I opened up to him. But I learned that when you open up to someone like that, it is an invitation to disrespect you. I will not make that mistake again. I had faith I could reach the man. But his intentions were to know me , not to be my friend , but to disrespect me. And durring my short time working there I witnessed food going out that was not up to standards bc the lack of commitment to quality. And all I can hear the residents say is this place sucks , the people are nasty. I heard a resident in spring cottage say he was going to kill himself if you want to look into that. The only people that offered him any comfort was the residents. I am sickened by some of the workers you hire for the kitchen that you know the way they are, and continue to let them be that way towards the other good workers and the residents. If you don't know all of what is going on your wrong. Whether you know or not, your wrong either way. You make me sick. Grossly incompetent. How dare you. Commitment to quality , more like commitment to being nasty and a selfish worker that hampers the residents needs. read more

We have had a good experience with Spring Hills in the care of our mother, especially with the change of administrators which occurred earlier this year. They have worked actively with us in setting up and following through with a care plan to bring her a better experience in the facility. Although most of the staff has aided in this endeavor, we wish to recognize some staff that have been working closely with Mom and us: Taiona Brown, Rosa Dejesus, Seneca Green, Felicia Phillips We feel confident that she is receiving the best care and attention that she requires and as the facility moves forward, more improvements are evident and we are very glad that we chose this placement for her. read more

I am almost positive this review will be removed by Spring Hills, as they have been known to remove bad press. But I would be doing a disservice to others had I not recounted my mother's experience here. It was sad to say the least. At first this seemed like a fantastic place, when you walk in you see the glitz and glam and home-like features drawing you in. After some negotiations we thought we found the perfect place for my mom. My mom is young, with early onset Alzheimer's (very nasty and unfair disease). We were assured she could receive up to a nursing level of care in the assisted living portion of the complex until she was ready for their memory care wing. We had a bunch of ups and downs, more downs than anything. The staff turnover was extremely high, higher than most assisted living homes, I know this since my mother in-law is on the board of a nursing home in PA, she herself was appalled how much turnover there was. If you check GlassDoor you can even see complaints of employees (which I'm sure Spring Hills will now go and remove those reviews as well). My mother's hygiene care was deplorable, the staff was not doing anything to change their approach and left her in filth. This didn't stop at just bathing, it extended to changing clothing, sheets and to the general cleanliness of her room. To top it off, we were paying for medication management and they were allowing her to not take her medications. One of which she desperately needs to make sure her cancer does not come back. She was eventually involuntarily discharged for exhibiting normal progression of Alzheimer's and the facility claiming they could no longer care for her. My sister is there and has been for almost 3 years. They drain you of your funds then tell you to find someplace else. No one there does their job. The Management does not return calls or follow through from the Regional Manager on down. Help changes every 3-4 months.(including managers). I will be moving my Sister as soon as I can find a suitable affordable place. They promise lots and provide None of it. Management is basically sales. This is really not a good place. It is amazing to me that legally they get away with what they dont do and charge for. I have additional full time care that we also pay for and they dont do anything either. The expenses in this place are unreal. The Home Care took my sister to the hairdresser every other day until I saw the bill and stopped it. Guess they are not even taking care of her daily hygiene. I still have not been able to get a legitimate answer as to why she has 24 hr care but every week is different billing. If you care about your Loved one find another place. They will probably remove my review as well as others that tell the truth about them. read more

My Mother has resided had Spring Hills for over 4 years now and the staff has been nothing less than exemplary. When choosing a facility for my Mom it was important to my family that she feel at home and the fact that every staff member recognizes my mom and greets her by name gives me comfort that we made the right choice. My parents joined the Spring Hills community in the spring of 2014 when it became evident that they could no longer live independently and needed to be closer to our family. We looked at approximately fourteen senior communities in Florida, Pennsylvania and New Jersey and decided that Spring Hills, Cherry Hill was our first choice. And over these past four years we continue to feel that we made the best choice. In addition to the beauty of the physical space, we have found a community that cares deeply for the physical and emotional well being of their residents and values the contribution that family members bring to their everyday lives. This philosophy of care and partnership enhances the senior living opportunities that the administration, activities staff, care partners and nurses want to promote. Not only are my regular visits welcome but my grandchildren look forward to coming regularly and participating in activities with "Bubbe's friends". Over these past four years my parents' needs changed dramatically. Through serious illness and my dad's passing we could not have hoped for a better response to their needs from everyone involved with them. The support we ALL received helped us adjust to those changes and make good decisions for both of them. After my dad's passing it became abundantly clear that my mom needed the support and oversight available in Spring Cottage. The conversations with administration and nursing leading up to this decision were handled with professionalism and knowledge of her needs and behaviors. Although this was not our first choice, we soon realized that this change was necessary and important to her well being. Spring Hills in Cherry Hill has undergone some significant changes since our family joined the community in 2014. From our perspective they have been enormously positive changes. As a family member I have always communicated issues of concern to the manager of the department or to the Executive Director. I have always felt my concerns were addressed and appropriate changes were made. To me this is indicative of a partnership. We moved our mother to Spring Hills Cherry Hill in August 2013 and was told that she'd be guaranteed a Medicaid bed after spending her entire life savings there (they told us not to tell anyone about this agreement). Spring Hills assured us that they had the proper Memory Care programs available and we were comforted to know that our mother would receive the care she needed as her dementia worsened. Spring Hills assured us that this was the place for our mother. Instead, our mother was involuntarily DISCHARGED twenty months later after Spring Hills took almost the entirety of our mother's life savings, claiming they could no longer care for her. And they did not even tell us on the phone or in person, they sent a letter in the mail!! Spring Hills received the benefit of the agreement and our mother was thrown to the street. The employee turnover at this facility is insane. Every other week there was a new person calling us that we had never spoken to before, and they barely knew anything about our mother. She once went to the nurse's office complaining of shortened breath and they sent her to the hospital without contacting us, without sending her with her medications, with her medication list, or even with someone from Spring Hills!! That experience alone epitomizes how much they care about their residents. When we personally went to Spring Hills to get our mother's medical records, they refused to provide them to us because it was "after business hours." It was only 8 pm and our mother was sent to the hospital at 6 pm! They told us we could come back tomorrow and pay $1/page! After taking our mother's entire life savings they wanted even more money and did not care that the hospital needed this information for our mother's health!! I beg of anyone reading this review - before you place a loved one at Spring Hills, visit other communities. While this place looks nice and new, not only is the layout awful for the elderly, the staff is as well! The "care levels" they claim to have are all fake. They increased our mother's care level, charged us an additional $1,650/month, and never once sent a description of what the new care included. And even after that, they discharged her and kept charging for the care that they said they could no longer provide! The management of this facility repeatedly dodged our phone calls. They would send emails and we would call back immediately and they would not be there to speak. They even once allowed another resident's family to remove our mother from the facility and take her overnight without her medications and without informing us!! Spring Hills Cherry Hill is essentially a hotel with an all-you-can-eat cafeteria, claiming to offer services that they do not. Loved ones beware. You can do better than this place and your loved one deserves better. read more

Our father was in a near-fatal car crash and recovered with a TBI on top of developing dementia. He spent many weeks in rehab and never quite found his rhythm or regained his ability to live alone. When it became clear that his care needs could only be met in a specialized residential setting we searched high and low for the right place. We chose Spring Hills Cherry Hill for our father because it offered open visiting, expert nursing care, delicious food, caring residential aides and an incredible menu of activities tailored to the needs of older adults with cognitive impairments. The living units were spacious, homelike, clean and offered the privacy that our father preferred along with group meals, activities and the socialization that we wanted for him. Throughout his two-year stay, our father was cared for by staff who were attentive, kind, and professional. Every effort was made to meet his needs even when expressive language failed him. Our fondest memories are of the late afternoon sing-alongs, trips to the beautiful courtyards, clothes washing, feeding the birds and the fun holiday events. Every effort is made at Spring Hills Cherry Hill to respond to family needs and concerns. We never expected assisted living in the Memory Unit to be so warm and home-like.
