Who knows... but in a time when fear is so commonplace - this might be a place you feel safe to let your kids play in Hayward. Lots of lawn - good to let your dog do their business and let your kids roll around - germs are good for kids to prevent allergies, right? Good utilitarian park with all the basics - I suppose it doesn't have that 'it' factor which makes it less popular - but in the era of social distancing that might be even more of a plus.

It's located within a nicer residential neighborhood where your worries for random strangers lessens because it is not as accessible to the public unless you live in the area. Their playground is not as big but it checks all of the boxes for usability for kids along with its variety. There are usually not too many families that come here regularly so most of the time my son gets to enjoy most of their equipment by himself whenever we stop by which we like. We really enjoy this park, its offerings, and how well it is maintained whenever we come in the afternoon during a weekday or on a weekend. I would highly recommend others with young children to come and check it out if you enjoy privacy with your kids.

Oh my goodness that's so long ago. Meek Park today is still as lovely as I remembered it, but even better because they now have the water fountain flowing. The grounds are maintained well with beautiful lush grass and pretty flowers. I also saw some cute cats in their garden area. They have a parking lot with plenty of spots. The playgound looks whimsy and elegant at the same time. I'm so happy that their poop bag stations have actual poop bags! I had poop bags with me, but it's just so helpful when a park also provides poop bags as well just in case people need them. I think they have a restroom area if I remember correctly. I know there was an area with plenty of picnic tables.

The whole park is fenced off, with locking gates to the parking lot. There are many paved trails here, along with picnic areas and playgrounds. There are always people here walking the trail along the outer edge of the park. I have not yet been inside of the mansion, but this park is nice enough to go to on its own. But checking out the inside of this mansion is definitely on my to do list!!!!

In any case, if you have a young toddler, just make sure you watch them get off the slide because it's just so high off the ground. See picture. [[ Pros ]] 1.) Huge park with ample parking. I felt like it was pretty clean and well-kept overall and it felt super spacious. The Union City BART runs above the park which is cool but loud at the same time. 2.) The trees embedded into the Playground act as natural SHADE. Oh my goodness do I love having shade while my kid is at the playground for 1-2 hours. Felt awesome. 3.) The Golden Gate Bridge play structure was awesome. My kid loved it and probably ran up and down the bridge and the various slides attached to it 100 times. I was surprised to find this playground just one block away from the impressive Casa Verde park. This park is much smaller in size, but there is still plenty of sidewalk and grass to enjoy along with the playground, picnic tables with bbq, and giant trees. The playground has one tall structure, a climbing tower, and a swing set with standard swings only. The structure has three slides each from a different level, a short sidewinder, a spiral, and a very tall long sidewinder. Connecting each level are colorful plastic steps reminding me of a staircase. There are also basic steps, ladders, bells (that are oddly positioned and hard to ring... you have to wedge your arm through a banister of the staircase), and the cutest little hidden turtles. We spent a good deal of time on the playground but we brought our bikes/ scooters with us this day and it was just the second time with the pedal bike for brother. He was so excited to ride the many well-kept sidewalks that circle the park and connect through for varying routes. Union City has really great bike-friendly parks. On the opposite end of the playground, there is a small ball field. Across the street from the park is an exercise station. This park has no bathrooms or parking lot. Street parking is easy. For closest to playground park on San Andreas Dr. Don't miss the poky trees (and definitely don't fall off your bike/scooter onto them )
