When he told me that he was moving his operation over to Salon Elle, of course I followed. I stopped in yesterday for a later appointment and Jeff took me right away. He did a fantastic job as always and when I left, my way too long hair was trimmed to a manageable and stylish length for the summer. I love Salon Elle. It's an old house that has been converted into a salon and the layout is just gorgeous. There is plenty of natural light that flows into the place and everything is clean and well organized. It is really my fault for not booking ahead of the time but I just had an urge to cut my hair off today so I started my good ole Yelp search. I thought Belle Chasse area might be easier to get an appt than in CBD Area and I ran into Trendy Salon page. Called in and bam, got an appointment for 30 minutes later. It is located in a strip mall area so there are plenty of parking available. The owner told me there are two other girls working at the location but it was only herself today. She was so nice - I mean I feel like I got a hair cut from a long lost sister or something. She was very professional and communicative. As someone mentioned, she did exactly what I wanted. I usually walk out of a salon disappointed 90% of the time but today was not the case. The cut was $35 excluding tip which is like half of CBD price. She was punctual, professional, warm and welcoming. She has such an infectious personality. My locs were on the smaller side compared to what she usually services and she confirmed that I knew the price would be slight higher, which I expected. During my session, she talked to me like we've known each other for years. I was pleased with the wash I received as well as the twist and style. The price for the service is reasonable. Parking was surprisingly easy and convenient. We made the appointment online and it started on time and with our preselected hair dresser. The general salon and waiting area was a bit too loud for my daughter but when she went to get her hair washed, we noticed a "Quiet waiting area"!! I love this fact, especially for my child who is autistic. My daughter loved the hair massage as her hair was prepped for cutting. My wait time was short. At the bowl the lady shampooing my hair asked if I wanted a deep conditioner. I told her yes initially, she told me it'd be an extra $10 I said ok. I look at the time a realized I didn't have enough time to do the deep conditioner, she said ok. She proceeded to do what I assumed was a regular conditioner and detangle (I'm natural this was also VERY visible when I entered the salon) I was told to sit in another chair (with conditioner in my hair) she began washing someone else then after speaking with her coworker decided to rinse my hair out. For some reason my hair got blowdried instead of set on rollers. I go up to the desk to pay and the owner says "oh you got a deep conditioner too right" I explained to her what happens and she says ok. She then proceeded to tell me that my services came up to $80, a $15-$20 hike SUDDENLY. When I asked why is it something different than what I was quoted, and she told me it was due to my hair needing to be detangled. When I asked if they could tell me that the deep conditioner was an added service why didn't they mention the added detangling fee, she responded with the total again saying my hair was really tangled. The detangling process took all of 15 mins ( I KEEEP my hair pressed, I'm a "straight natural"). I wouldn't spend another copper red cent here. I'm also terrified I have heat damage now because of the amount times she passed the flat iron over my hair. I need to edit this and say that my scalp is still dirty but according to the owner my scalp is dry. Save yourself and save your coins.
