This is one review worth writing. We closed escrow on the sale of our late fathers home several months back. Due to my personal health issues this review was delayed. Let me start off by sharing that Melissa Huk is definitely a perfect example of an a realtor with integrity, class and professionalism. It is our opinion that she is truly one of the hardest working agents we have ever met. Melissa went above and beyond ALL our expectations.  Prior to meeting Melissa my brother and I had a horrible experience (same home) with a "local neighborhood agent" in Rancho Bernardo.  It became very apparent that my original agent was not at all motivated to sell our late fathers home, and was just wearing us down on price. With 0 offers (not even lowball offers), several months of open houses, multiple price cuts, and doing ALL that  the agent suggested, the agents answer was always "cut the price".  We searched around asking for references from other agents and Melissa Huk's name came up several times. One of the agents we spoke to was an out of state agent. She told us she knew of an excellent agent in the San Diego area. She offered to introduce us, and Melissa told the agent she would be happy to speak with us, but that she will not engage while our home was actively listed in all fairness and respect for the other agent. However,  the refereeing agent said that if we called her then it was okay. My brother Guy and I called Melissa right away to discuss hiring her to list our fathers home. Melissa was very professional, and told us that she would rather not engage while we had the home listed with another agent. We eventually did cancel our listing and followed back up with Melissa. I personally met with Melissa one on one and without any hesitation I felt she was genuine, caring, and very passionate about her work. My brother and I definitely knew she was one agent that was in our corner.  Although we were very upset about our previous agent, Melissa never focused on why it didn't sell. Rather on how she could make the experience better, and get the home sold. Melissa did know the previous agent, yet never said an unkind word. Just that we would move forward with a game plan that we would be happy with, and at a price that my brother and I were extremely happy with. Melissa did EVERYTHING she said she would and beyond. From contacting & working with all contractors, to painting cabinets that she herself engaged in, to picking out carpet, tile, & staging. All while keeping us informed of the details. Melissa closed the loop on everything! She transformed my late fathers home into a showcase, and most importantly put our mind at ease.  This wasn't the only thing Melissa did for us. We encountered some issues with the HOA that we just didn't know how to navigate since this was a trust sale. But Melissa stepped right up and advocated on our families behalf at the board meeting, and then helped us to follow up with a letter to the board. Rather then focus on the problems, Melissa was quick at always finding solutions that seemed to work in our favor!  Melissa had multiple offers on our home within less than 1 week of going back on the open market. She negotiated the buyer to pay their own repairs, and termite. Beyond all that, she is a genuine and dedicated professional that I can't say enough good things about. Hiring her was truly the best decision we ever made. Melissa has continued to stay in touch with us even after the sale. I owned a house in Carlsbad for over 30 years with a magnificent view of the ocean from every room and a very open and large backyard. She knew what I liked and what I didnt like and she zeroed in on "The One." I saw Melissa work with this seller's agent with such a focused and determined attitude. She let me know firstly, what she was going to do and how she could reasonably deal with this seller's agent to make this purchase fair for both parties. She always kept me informed through each step and before she made decisions, she consulted me first. Bottom line, Melissa performed her Queen Bee magic and I bought the house for 10's of thousands less than asking price. I recently relocated from Florida to San Diego and I had the pleasure of having Melissa as my agent. This is not my first home and have worked with several agents in the past. While I think my past agents did a fine job, it is my opinion that Melissa is a much better agent. When she says she is a skilled negotiator she's not lying! I have been on both the buying and selling end of real-estate and I am still impressed with how well she negotiated my latest purchase. It was clear that as a buyer she was genuinely advocating for me and my best interest, and not just trying to close the deal to get a check. Outside of being professional and having all the skill you would want in a realtor, Melissa was also very patient and kind. I had a specific type of house I wanted and we looked for months, going out every few days sometimes to look at properties. If the level of time and commitment she put in wasn't impressive enough she also seemed to have an incredible knowledge of all the areas. We looked from El Cajon to Ramona, to Poway, and Escondido to name a few. Through out the transaction there was also a notable number of mistakes made by the sellers agent and the broker. Not only was Melissa on top of it (making calls to various groups and having contracts re drafted), her own contractional paperwork was always prompt and error free. While I am the kind of person that checks others work (especially with contracts). I didn't feel the need to double check her work. She clearly knew what she was doing and was on top of it. In closing I can say this. When it comes time to look for a realtor it seems everyone has a realtor that they recommended for no particular reason other than they worked with them. That doesn't mean they are the best. When I say "MY REALTOR" is the best, and I recommend Melissa, I mean it! I am not a person who usually comments or writes reviews, rather to praise or complain. But I felt compelled to write something about the experience we had recently from Melissa Huk. She is truly a "one of a kind" realtor! With her professional advice and guidance, we were able to sell our home in less than 48 hours, with offers over our asking price. I attribute this success to Melissa. In early August of 2016 we finally had our opportunity to move but we had to do it soon because we have kids and wanted to move before school started. We realized that was not reasonable but we still wanted to move ASAP. We had heard of Melissa through the grapevine and gave her a call. Melissa visited us and was very enthusiastic. My review is one well worth writing. My wife and I are going through a divorce and both of us had to find independent agents to interview and provide to the courts. We interviewed 3 when Melissa came HIGHLY recommended. We both met with her during a 1 hr long interview and we both immediately felt she was definitely a well rounded agent extremely through and we both hired her on the spot. We lived in a brand new build for about 2 years and loved the community situated between Carmel mountain Ranch and Rancho Penasquitos. The market started to drop in pricing quickly and Melissa knew time was of the essence. My husband and I met Melissa through my husbands relocation department and although we weren't obligated to go with her we wanted to give her the opportunity to show us how she could help. In This case we were buyers with an extremely tight purchasing budget, three small kids, coming from the east coast where a home is worth on average 160k and in San Diego that same home is worth 600k. When I tell you that Melissa worked some MAGIC in getting us our house. We were doing a cross country military move due to my husband being stationed out here. We at the time had a one year old son, 3 dogs, a cat, a rabbit and everything else in between that we had to move to a place where we knew nobody to help us out in the time in between. Melissa FaceTimed with us during showings as we were not able to personally attend. She was very thorough in her tours, looking for things that we didn't even think about looking for in terms of damage and wear and tear on the house itself to make sure that we were getting the best home for our money. There was a little issue at closing where we thought we would need to stay in an Airbnb for yet another night (not to the fault of Melissa) but once everything got sorted, she stayed with us late into the night to help us move what we had into our new home. With our lifestyle, we were looking for a house with a decent sized yard for our pets and son as well as amenities for us to enjoy within the neighborhood. We also didn't want my husband to have to drive super far to go to work. Melissa found us EXACTLY what we wanted and MORE. Not only was she amazing during the home buying process but she has been nothing less AFTER the deal was closed. With a lot of agents, once the deal is closed you may hear from them a few days after and then never again. That's not the case with Melissa. She becomes basically family and is there for anything you need. You can't go wrong with Melissa. Buying a home can be a stressful process especially when you're moving from a different state. I had no idea what to look for in San Diego and I was so glad that I found Melissa. I am coming out of my yelp slumber just to write this review for Melissa because she deserves it! Melissa has been a godsend! My husband and I interviewed 3 other agents before making our decision. We are not first time homebuyers so our interview process was rather cut throat, and we had an extensive list of tough questions. Melissa definitely stood out from the rest. Not only did she answer right away and spend a much longer time dialoging with us, she was very confident, candid, full of personality, and we could tell immediately she was a goal-getter. I was laid off due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and needed to make some big life decisions and move on them quickly. I decided to sell my house and move back to the Seattle area and did some asking around and Melissa came highly recommended by others at Keller Williams and now I know why. I hired Melissa Huk to represent me in the sale of my parents home after I interviewed quite a few real estate agents and I am very happy that I did. My parents built their home over 40 years ago and it was in need of a fair amount of updating and I needed a buyer that could make a project of it. It was by no means a turnkey job. Through her advertising efforts and hosting many open houses I had many low ball offers for the home as well as many offers from investors looking to flip the home. Melissa's effort in working throught these offers was amazing. She weeded out those that were too weak to consider and pursued those that had promise. I am not sure how many hundreds of hours she spent doing this but it was a lot. She told me that due to the updating issues it would probably take a little time to find the right buyer and to not expect an immediate sale unless we got lucky.
