Adult admission this year was $27, which I think increased from last year. If you have a school ID, I strongly recommend to use it! It becomes $20/person +$1 fee when ordered online. It was extremely packed in this area on a Saturday, so plan accordingly. We paid $10 for parking at the lot that's about a less than 5 min walk away. This might be the Millennial in me talking... but there weren't as many photos ops, in my opinion, compared to the other years. There were a few exhibits that I would have liked to see and we signed up for the wait list on the tablets, but it said there were over 100 people waiting, we never got a text back, and then ended up leaving. It seemed like there were a lot of people just waiting around the common areas and I'm assuming it's for those exhibits. On the plus side, it was indeed fun. They serve red and white wine (right under $9), which we ordered and made the trip a blast ;) The exhibits that we did see, especially with the lights and colored yarn, were awesome. I just didn't favor the one in the dark room where you hear a bunch of cars crashing over and over...it got me paranoid... but hey it's art. The confession wall was interesting and sometimes even funny. Overall, it was a fun experience and have no regrets in going! Every employee was super friendly and willing to answer any questions

If you have a couple hours to explore more than just your visual sense then I recommend stripping down and diving into the latest of the Marina's art venues. A few of my favorite exhibits include: "Experiment 2.C" takes you high above the clouds. "We Are All Made of Light" places you deep into space as you may imagine life among the stars to be. "Rainbow Room" allows you to live among the different colors and textures of life. "Where Thoughts Go" provides you with a VR experience of hearing other's intimate thoughts and life experiences and sharing your own before drifting away. The collection of art displayed and your experience with each is immeasurable, unforgettable and definitely worth visiting over and over again. Looking forward to seeing more this.

I wished we…read morecould've done the room by ourselves instead of being paired with strangers, but at least we made it out with less than a minute left! However, the Japanese Thriller barely felt on theme with the serial killer storyline other than the introduction video we received. I prefer escape rooms where I actually feel like I'm part of the story. This was a very different escape room than I have done before. While you always have to split up for escape rooms, this time we were forced to separate between multiple rooms so you had no idea how the other group was doing (this isn't great when you're forced to solve the room with strangers because you have no idea if they know what they're doing). It was definitely more chaotic than other escape rooms I've done. The rooms were small and they use locks for a lot of the puzzles, which isn't innovative. They also forgot to put back one of the pieces we needed to get the final combination, so we almost didn't make it out because we had to keep guessing. HOWEVER, the worst part of the entire experience was how RUDE the man was that was helping us on the walkie talkie. He would give us attitude every time we asked for a clue. Why give clues if you're going to rude when people use them?

It is in an apartment complex in Hillcrest, and it is upstairs. So sad that the homeless problem has affected San Diego so much. We weren't sure if the homeless man was alive or not, but one person in our party said that could see him breathing. We then climbed the stairs to the business. We were greeted by a nice man who invited us in. We sat in the business lobby, awaiting our instructions. The nice man gave us our instructions, and some game playing tips. We would solve in 4 rooms, as a group, and we had a certain amount of time for the escape game. Cons: The rooms of this location are a bit shabby. They seem to be worn, old, and dusty. The escape game items are somewhat dirty and could use some refreshing. We had a hard time touching the materials for clues because they seemed "touched" by many other hands before ours. The lighting is a bit problematic. The walls and overall room settings are not in the best condition (and I don't mean creepy nor horror best, but needing a good refresh/cleaning wipe down). The sad homeless situation at the entry of the business was disappointing. Pros: The clues are great and playing the Japanese Thriller Escape Room game is super challenging. The staff person who greeted us and setup our group escape room was very customer service oriented. We will try the other locations to see if they are a bit more updated and cleaner.

I've had some really weird incidents happen to me in Old Town and far too many occasions have felt a heaviness whenever I would pass by the old Whaley House, my old office was in Old Town. When my best friend wanted to check out the Whaley House for our birthday trip, I was hesitant but said yes. She was visiting from out of town and she loves all things scary and I wanted to make sure she had a good birthday too. We ended up getting a late night reservation which was pretty cool, it made for a lot less foot traffic and I was able to find parking right across the street. We checked in at the gift shop and waited for our turn. Our guide was Heather, she was so fantastic, super welcoming and gave us so much history of the Whaley family. She even told us her experiences, the house itself definitely feels lived in, there is so much energy in here, so if you're a little sensitive like me be ware. I felt like I wanted to cry more times, than I should. My one irk was that the group before us, their guide said, "Say hello to Violet Whaley for us," it seemed like a toss away statement but as you learn the history of the Whaley family I was just so disgusted at her words. Violet Whaley suffered from depression and took her own life on the grounds. It still irks me that a guide would say that to another group and then proceed to tell her group that ours just didn't know who Violet was yet. Uncool. Would definitely recommend anyone come to San Diego and wanting to check out the history to take the tour.
