Gotta love a good Buc-ee's visit! This location in Crossville is a perfect midpoint between…read moreNashville and the Smokies and is conveniently located right off I-40, making it an easy stop whether you're heading east or west across Tennessee. I always wonder how long the line will be, but I was able to get in and out quickly both times I stopped this weekend. I primarily came for the reduced gas prices, clean restrooms, and great snacks, but the friendly staff are always a bonus. This trip I fell in love with the Cherry Maple Beef Jerky as it's sweet and savory without being overly sweet, and the texture isn't too tough. I also really enjoyed the peach tea! If you're making the drive between Middle and East Tennessee, this Buc-ee's is definitely worth the stop.

A road trip stop somehow turns into a shopping expedition. We stopped at the Crossville location on our way to Nashville and accomplished the essentials: Glazed pecans. Barbecue. A case of water. Road snacks we probably didn't need but somehow couldn't live without. Mission accomplished. Now, compared to some of the giant Buc-ee's locations, this one feels a little smaller. It's still enormous by normal gas station standards, but in the Buc-ee's universe, it's more of a midsize SUV than a monster truck. One disappointment was that the fried chicken and burritos weren't being served during our visit. That's like showing up to a baseball game and finding out the home team has the day off. Still, it's hard to be too critical. The store was clean. The selection was huge. The bathrooms were spotless, as expected. And somehow I walked in for gas and left with enough snacks to survive a minor natural disaster. That's the Buc-ee's experience. Four stars. Because even a smaller Buc-ee's is still better than about 99% of the gas stations you'll find on the road.

D.M. Lake Tansi , Crossville TN…read more After living in this area for over a year I just recently learned that Happy Sak makes fresh Pizza. I patronized this business daily for a year while building a new house as well as some of the helpers I had. Breakfast & lunch daily, plus fuel when needed. Over the past several months I purchased 3 or 4 pizzas at the tune of $16.00 and some change. Most were very good with the exception of the last one. We ordered a pizza on 11/19/22 for $16.74 as we had company from out of state. The 4 of us each had 1 piece and threw the rest away. Way over cooked and little if any pizza sauce could be found. Dry as a mouthful of popcorn. I called the store and asked to speak to the owner and was told the manager wasn't available at the time. I reached out on the companies FB page but still never heard from anyone. On 12/2/22 I thought I would call them and ask if a discount was possible on an order given the pizza we received on our last order wasn't edible. The person I spoke to was absolutely unwilling to accommodate me. She just couldn't understand why I didn't just jump back in my car and bring the pizza back up to the store. When I told her we had company in our home, and it was easier to just make something in place of the bad pizza at home rather than drive back up there and wait for another order. I also explained to this person that I am 70 yrs. old, a disabled Veteran and live in agonizing pain and was not up to driving back to their business again that evening. I thought the initial phone call and Face Book contact was sufficient enough to document that we had a pizza that was not edible and that I could possibly get a discount on my next order. I was wrong!!! The person that I spoke to had no regard for my service-connected disability and refused to offer a discount on another purchase. She repeatedly told me she just couldn't understand why I didn't just hop in the car and return the pizza. I wasn't asking for anything free and any discount she would have offered would have been accepted. This type of treatment seems to be the norm these days. People have little respect for seniors and even Veterans are often given little thanks. I enjoyed doing business with Happy Sak and would have continued to patronize the company. I find it unreasonable not to apply a discount to the purchase I was trying to make considering the last purchase was so bad we threw it out. It would have cost them next to nothing to gain so much as I would have continued to patronize their business. D M Lake Tansi Crossville TN

The store shows its age, there are things placed here and there, so remember to take a good look, you might actually find what you've been looking for. It's always nice when you accidentally run across something you haven't seen in 40+ years. That's how I felt about Shelton's Store. It reminded me of my local convenience store in my neighborhood when I was 5 years old. If I had a dime, it magically turned into a candy bar once inside the store. :)

It has charm and character you won't find in a Shell or Speedway. There is usually a group of regulars hanging out at the front chatting. The store is surprisingly large but dark and pretty dusty. The variety of items on the shelves is actually pretty funny and some of them look like they have been there for 40+ years. The couple that runs the place keeps a notebook with all transactions hand written in it. You can get homemade deli sandwiches on the super soft white bread that sticks to the roof of your mouth when you take a bite. Nothing fancy but it's nice to get lunch for 2 for less than $10 anywhere these days. They serve breakfast as well but I haven't made it in to try that yet. They also sell fuel but you can't pay at the pump. I would find that annoying some places but it just makes sense here. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of places left like Shelton's.
