That's five stars for the landscaping work, zero stars for customer service…read more We engaged Maria Gardens to completely replace the garden bed in the front of our house. The proposed design suited us; the price was reasonable. They did all the work in one day, the final product was attractive, their labor crew was polite, and cleanup was excellent. However, communication with them was simply terrible. After I accepted their proposal electronically, I made an appointment at the Strongsville location to review the proposed plants. When I got there, they had no idea who I was and could only tell me that the person I was looking for was out on a job and would probably be back sometime soon. I stood around while I exchanged a couple of texts with my contact in which he claimed he was on his way back to the store and would be there soon. When he failed to materialize after 45 minutes, I tired of waiting, left my deposit check with the cashier (who still was clueless) and departed. I heard nothing for the following week. I had to call to ask for some idea of how far out they were scheduling. I got a return call saying that they were looking at October 1. I sincerely doubt I would have heard anything had I not called. Fast forward to September 30. It had been two months since I had last heard from them. I had received no acknowledgement of my deposit, no statement of account. Were they going to show up the next day? I had to call and ask. I got a call back confirming they would be there the following day, but probably "a little later in the day as they were finishing up a job". That next day passed very quietly. They didn't show up. I heard nothing from them. No call, no text. The day after, they did show up, surprise surprise! They did the work as described in my first paragraph. It looks good. Two days later, I received a text asking what I thought and when was I going to pay the balance due. He wanted me to drive out to the store to hand-deliver my check! Per my custom, I mailed the check the following Monday. It was for the difference between the quote amount I digitally accepted and my deposit. Now this week, they have produced a different version of the quote and are saying I still owe them $216. But somehow this version is undated (he sent me a picture). And I have my own copy with the quoted price and my digital signature that their system emailed to me. So I sent him a picture of my copy, pointed out that his version was undated and told him his number was just wrong. That was the last I heard, so who knows if he accepts his mistake or not? No apology, nothing. That last text I sent was like dropping a feather down a well. I would have paid the $216 if it was truly owed, but I can tell you this. That amount is certainly less than what we would have spent at their store in a single visit next spring. But that's not going to happen now. Nor will they be asked to quote on additional landscaping work I am planning for next year. There is no excuse for not communicating like this. If you can't tell your customers when to expect you, you have a problem. If you are too busy to send a text, you need an assistant. If you can't reply to text messages, you are simply rude and inconsiderate. These days, many contractors use software that does this stuff automatically. Finally, I will add that in my experience, when a company is laser-focused on collecting payables but is ignoring customer service, it is a sign of much bigger problems behind the scenes. Should you hire them for your landscaping? That's your choice, but I will not.

A good supply of garden tools and related items. In winter this is where we get firewood. The wood is dry and often a good variety like red oak. Friendly staff makes it an easy choice.
