Very disappointed... Mario was very distracted and didn't consider what I asked for with my cut. He butchered my cut and showed zero experience in working with the shape of people's heads and/or the textures of hair. I will be wearing a baseball cap for at least the next month. I was super excited about getting my haircut here. The shop aesthetic was great, and the cut was decent. However, my barber didn't listen to the style I wanted, didn't do the hot neck shave, and even when he asked me if I wanted my neck cleaned up, he whipped out an electric razor... at a barbershop and no neck shave? Also, a neck massage was never offered. The whole experience was about 20 minutes maximum, and frankly, for $40 bucks, I expected a little more. My barber was awful. He had no idea how to properly trim a beard. I ask if he could do straight razor and then he mumbled some jargon after saying no so I was like okay he can get close this barbershop seems decent. My gosh I was wrong. He didn't even lean my chair back so my neck was in an uncomfortable position the whole time. He just used a regular razor and didn't line anything up. There are spots where my hairs are substantially longer than the others . Luckily my normal barber was able to fit me in as I didn't need a hair cut just a nice and easy beard trim. The guy was also super strange like peering over me as I put my tip in. Like back up bud I'm gonna give you 20% either way to not cause a problem. Also $25 plus tip is kind of strange normally it's $15 for not a a straight razor and $30 for it. But I don't care about the price necessarily that's not what made my experience bad. My experience with this barbershop was something you would expect at great clips in Oak Cliff not somewhere in West Village. This is honestly so disappointing and would avoid this place at all costs. I visited Mr. Winston's in West Village looking for a new regular barbershop because it was close to my office, and got my personal data stolen instead. It was my first visit and my barber was friendly enough but said almost nothing to me once he started. He spent as much time talking to the other barbers and patrons as he did cutting my hair. While that wasn't particularly rude in itself, he then walked away without a word as I was paying which did turn me off completely. I never went back based on that experience. Some six months later I got a text from Mr. Winston's telling me that one of their employees (they gave me his name) had "unlawfully" loaded my personal information into a database for the purpose of spamming me. Presumably, he uploaded the personal data of other customers as well. The text said he had been reported to the police. Their note ended by saying that they looked forward to continuing to serve me! Somebody clearly got my info, as I've been absolutely barraged with spam and phishing attacks by phone, text and email for the past 2-3 months. I definitely will never go back and wouldn't recommend Mr. Winston's to anyone else based on their level of service alone. read more

Do not schedule a later appointment. I was told the guy stays late to cut hair. He rushed me, got annoyed when I asked to cut more, and cut my hair very uneven. Then charged me extra for having longer hair when he barely cut any off. read more

Jonelle is prodigious with the clippers and provided the best beard trim I've ever had, while also giving some attention I didn't even know I needed to my mustache. The haircut, too, is excellent, and brings an appreciated new take to the style I usually exhibit with my mid-length locks. To top it all off, Jonelle sold me on a bottle of the shampoo this shop uses. I will certainly be returning. read more

First visit here and was very excited but that soon faded. When I walked in I kinda figured you checked in on the tablet that says to. The place was clean and looked nice. Then we get to the haircut. Being my first time I had no idea what to book. The barber explained, and emphasized, it was a 30minute appointment and I should've booked the correct thing if I wanted my beard trimmed as well. Just felt talked down to and didn't really enjoy the remaining consulting part. It was just a lot of what did I previously have despite me specifying I was kinda looking for something different and wanted recommendations. During the limited time allotted for my hair cut the barber was constantly having to instruct guest entering and had to answer the phone multiple times. So a good bit was just him getting bookings for later. One of the bookings was with him at 12:45. I don't understand if I'm asking for more service and you have an appointment basically right after my current one why not offer? It was just weird hearing that as I'm being rushed the entire time and disappointed because I was not actually getting the services I was hoping for to start with. Also during the haircut a guest walked in and was offered beverages. That would've been nice to know while I was waiting there for my appointment an extended period of time. So then after not even trimming my split ends on the top of my head he wanted to move to the shampoo which at this point I bypassed because it was clear I was just being rushed out. It would've been nice to know what I should've booked instead of just leaving unhappy since I didn't get what I was coming for. Last note. While I waited for my cut the barber said bye and gave a card to the previous client. I was not given a card. Though at that point I think it was clear how unwelcome I was. Overall I just felt unwelcome and left with an expensive fade, no beard work, and none of my top hair touched. Hopefully your experience will be different, and from how other guest were treated by the other barber you might, but I personally don't know if I'd go back. read more

the atmosphere is unique and the team was warm and welcoming. I enjoyed the warm shaving cream for the neck shave with the blade , but didn't receive a shoulder massage with my experience. I also feel the music could be turned up/on so we could chatter with our own barber. Though the space is beautifully designed the price leaves you feeling as if you'd expect more. read more

Barber and I talked about what type of fade I wanted and the things I didn't like from my previous haircuts, well, that's exactly what I got! Just another awful/fade. The place is cool but I wouldn't pay $52 dollars including tip for a haircut that I personally didn't like. Also I don't understand how we got to this point even having a consultation. Not that I care but if we are considering costumer service here as well, every other barber asked their costumer if they wanted something to drink except me. read more

One of the worst haircuts I've ever had, and far too expensive for the quality. No hot towel or straight razor for my shave. Even at a chain like Floyd's I receive a hot towel. The single star is for the atmosphere. This is a beautiful barber shop but not beautiful enough to justify the cost for a bad haircut and shave. read more
