I made an appointment at 11:30 and somehow I still was there for almost 2 1/2 hours for a simple oil change. I don't know why I went there for a oil change and then he's gonna tell me when I'm tired of waiting, they have to do a tire rotation and I'm sitting here saying my car doesn't need a tire rotation because the tires are different in the front and the back and he was like no n it was additional 15 minutes .. I go up to him again after that time pass and he says another 10 minutes just to reset my dashboard ... I just would not ever go for an oil change again. read more

Never take your vehicle to this place. I took my Truck (Dually) to this Place. Not only was the customer service trash but they scratched the hell out of my brand new rims. The balance on the front tires was way off. My truck was bouncing uncontrollably when i picked it up! i had to take my truck somewhere else and paid an addition $150.00 to have the tires rebalanced. Although I was told that there was a 50/50 chance that the rims could be scratched, I feel like once the tech saw that he scratched one rim the job should have been stopped. Brought my car in for an alignment, they took it and gave it back 20 minutes later. They told me they couldn't do it because they had trouble finding a certain piece. They charged me for it anyway. I'm new to the area. Went in for brakes. ...$1100. They did a " complimentary" diagnostic and said I needed a water pump, and thermostat. All of a sudden the car is leaking antifreeze. Drove 4 miles home and all of a sudden the check engine light comes on with a code for the oil pump. That wasn't listed on the "complimentary" diagnostic test. Total rip. read more

Great shop! We were driving on a long road journey and got one of those tire sensor orange lights. It really started worrying us. We stopped at gas stations along the way to fill or let out air, but nothing would turn the sensor off. We saw the sign for Mr. Tire on US 301 at La Plata and pulled in. The mechanic dropped what he was doing and used a meter to check all the tires and the individual tire sensors. His electronic gauge said that the tires were all correct on pressure and that the orange light was caused by a busted sensor. Charge? No charge. THANK YOU. We drove off with peace of mind. This review is the least that we can do. Thank you for being open on Sundays and willing to help people. You guys did your good deed of the day for us and we have not forgotten you. Rip off artists! Incompetent! Bought lifetime warrsntee for a young lady. She had a ptoblem and needed a repair or replacement on the tire. She called ahead and they said they would replace it at no cost. They said there would be no wait time. She took time off work to have this done. They charged her $70 in "fees" and she had to wait 2 hours. To top it all off, they couldn't figure out how to get the spare back into the car, so they threw it into her hatchback where it could have been lethal if it hit her 7 year old if she had to brake hard. I'm LIVID! I'm out of town or I would go down and have a litte "come to Jesus" meeting with those cretins tomorrow morning! We will be contacting their corporate customer service! It's a damn shame a national company would treat customers this way, but they will make this right! read more

This place stinks since Scott is not there anymore. They quoted me $1200 dollars for brakes. Yep $1200 for all four. If I wanted just the fronts, it would be around $700. No thanks. Ended up buying the front rotors and pads for under $100 bucks from Amazon. You tubed the installation and had them on in about an hour. read more

My very first time visiting Mr. Tire. I am new to the local area and needed a oil change with basic check up. I was greeted by this older guy, who seemed weary yet experienced at his job! He shared his life with me which I love, I learnt that he had been working there for 15 years.. which made me happy! I didn't have an appointment, but he assured me that ill be out of there within an hour! Im happy to say I actually was! I would never take my car to this location again, I'm new to the area so looked up the nearest place to get an oil change and inspection and Mr. tires came up so I went an could only get an oil change since it was on a Saturday. They told me that they had a lot of cars so I left my car there. About 2 hours later I get a call from them telling me that I need to fix my front brakes, rotors pads etc changed and was looking at a $500 charge and they pretty much made it sound like it was so bad that it was digging into my tires and that it was metal to metal and could not be driven far, I told them no that I didn't have the money but would come back. That Monday I went back to VA to have them take a look at it and was told it was fine that my front break was at 4/32" and rear was at 5/32" and that it would pass an inspection and that I had about 3-5000 more mileage left on them before having to change brakes so I feel like they were just trying to take advantage of me so now I take my business elsewhere. read more

We caught it and they said "We only do that for "x" specific service". I had to show the tech where it clearly stated online, that specific service in fact does come with what I purchased. These people are crooks. Sneak in charges and still don't want to do what they're charging you an arm and a leg for. Save your vehicle and money- go somewhere else. I was quoted 300.00 at first, then 100.00 ( which I agreed to ) then the manager looks at my wheels and tells me they want 11.00 more ( each wheel ) to swap sensors... Swapping sensors is a 2 minute job, and in today's world, all cars have sensors... Why would his first price not include this... Guess it's just another way to penny pinch more money out of a customer... Mr. Tire Auto Service Centers in LAPLATA, MD almost took me out yesterday 3/13/21. You pride yourselves on safety but Safety wasn't the priority today when your manager at the Laplata, MD location tried to SCAM me on repairs and put my life at risk!!!! Cops were called and YOUR MANAGER refused to cooperate!!! This supposedly experienced manager kept my car for 7 hours to do a break and rotor change, oil change and replace ALL four tires. Overcharged me AND allowed me to drive off KNOWING he damaged my car. I immediately came back within 3 minutes and ALMOST RAN INTO YOUR BUILDING because my BREAKS DIDNT WORK!!! Your manager could BARELY open the building door to get out I WAS THAT CLOSE/ he knowingly put my life at risk. I WILL BE SEEKING LEGAL ACTION !!! Not to mention when I called the cops, YOUR MANAGER dropped my keys on my car and told me to GET OFF THE PROPERTY. Even the cop was stunned by this behavior. The manager goes inside the building and LOCKS THE DOOR!!! When I told him the police department wanted to know his name, he yells through the door that he was NOT opening it and that the officer can get his name when he got there...Which he STILL refused to do when they got there. My car has to be left there because it wouldn't START and They now have to figure out the damages they've done. I knew something was wrong when it took HOURS to change tires, do an oil change and replace brakes and rotors. The time was really spent covering up damages done to my vehicle. I will publicly keep an update to this situation as to ensure there will be no further damage done as retaliation. I was told my car will be fixed tomorrow by the cop since your manager REFUSED to speak with me after he was called out for trying to get over on me and after I asked for a refund, so I fully expect to drive my car home WITH NO DAMAGES as it had none prior to coming to your shop!!! 3/14/21- they've been open since 9am!! THESE FOLKS ROCK! So I found myself at this place twice in a week's time. First, we had arranged to have four new tires installed on our 2011 Ford F-150. Despite the size of the truck we were out the door for under 700 with some pretty decent tires. Additionally, they didn't take too long either, I got a call about 45 minutes after drop-off. About a week later, driving out other vehicle, a 2012 Ford Focus (we like Fords); I heard the metal-on-metal awesomeness of a worn break pad. I had put it off long enough, I needed new breaks. Simultaneously, I needed to be at my house by noon to let he heating repair guy in the house. It was winter in Southern Maryland farm country...it was important I not miss this appointment. I needed to rent a car, which I reserved through Priceline at Hertz (see my review about that experience). The trick was how to get there to pick up the car. Presented with this dilemma, the folks at Mr Tire saved the day. They gave me the 30 minute round trip ride to the rental place twice (pick up and drop off) and I was back in my own car, this time with brakes, by 3pm. Also, they are competitive in price. I needed a rotor cut along with new pads, still out the door for under 400. They were also very gracious about thanking me for my service once they realized I was active duty. All around, these folks are professionals. It's clear to me that they care about their customers and repeat business. THESE FOLKS ROCK! read more

It is so difficult to find courteous and professional customer service. Not so at Mr. Tire in LaPlata. I had a concern about a low tire and stopped at Mr. Tire to ask if they could check my tire. As a female senior with no knowledge of tires, the employee took the time to show me how to determine the amount of air pressure, how to apply air and checked all my tires without charging me. He was informative, courteous and very professional. Based on the service he provided, I will be returning for my auto needs in the future. If zero stars where an option. I took my vehicle to them right of the auction lot and told them what the problem was. I also asked to have them look at the vehicle and let me know if any other work was needed. Over 1400 dollars later and waiting a few days for my vehicle I come to pick up my vehicle only to see that they caused an oil leak on my vehicle and broke my hood latch and the vehicle was driving the exact same way it was when I brought it in. When I advised the technicians that no work was done on my vehicle and I was pretty much charged for nothing and that I know what I am talking about due to my prior 10 years in the military working in motor transportation and mechanic company. I showed them that it was the exact same oil filter so the oil change that I was charged for and all other work I was charged for was not completed. Not to mention they where able to call me and tell me about other things that they said that my car needed but tried to tell me that the reason why I still had engine problems was due to not getting a diagnostic. So my question to them was that if you are working on my car and supposedly noticed a problem with my ball joints how did you not notice a problem with my engine when that is where the work was to be done in the first place. It just doesn't make sense!!!! I felt my PTSD acting up and decided it was better to just leave. I told the man thank you for your time and walked out. A few days later I get a call from the shop and the guy is apologetic for his actions and says that he can understand my frustration on the situation and they would like a chance to make things right. I bring my vehicle back only to find out that they broke my hood crated an oil leak by not putting the washer back on my oil pan and caused damage to my engine. At this point I see it is better to just take legal action. No one deserves this type of treatment read more

Brought in a tire with a possible leak from a screw just to satisfy my wife fear of being left with a flat tire. Sure enough it was actually leaking. I have been here several times and have had a poor experience the last few. I no longer go here. I have discovered that when I had my truck serviced there at 60,000 miles that a few of the fluid changes I requested (and paid for) were not done. It cost me over $500 in damage to my truck. Since they did not flush and refill my break fluid as they were paid to do, I had a caliper lock up and ruin a set of EBC performance breaks. I also had to buy 2 new calipers. This place will rip you off every time you go there. Pick any other place you like, just not here. read more

Amazing place. Every time I come here (flat tires and getting new tires I can tell they care about the customers. I told them to put a new tire on my car bc my other on was flat but instead of them having me pay for a whole new tire they just patched up the hole in the flat which which a lot cheaper. They also were so nice to my fiancé who is a veteran and helped him get his car back on the road fast after getting a flat tire the other day. read more

I decided to purchase tires for my vehicle. Due to the type of vehicle I have, and the tire size, Mr. Tire does not carry in stock. Understandable. Go order tires from Tirerack. Have the tires shipped to the store. Go to Mr Tire online and select appointment. Receive email confirming appointment. Three days later receive reminder email about my appointment. I show up for my appointment on time. I'm then told I don't have an appointment, I'm mistaken, I'm delusional and it's almost closing time so I'm crazy to even believe I could have an appointment. After attempting to show the person at the desk my email, he flat out says it's not happening come back Sunday. At that point, with no resolution or understanding of my concerns or the results of Mr Tires error somewhere, I now have tires and no way to even take them. Literally roll the tires outside, almost backs over two of them as he rushes to fix someone else car. So left in the parking lot, I load two tires into my car and await for someone join me to get the other two as It starts to rain outside. Now in the rain, getting the inside of my car soaked I am able to make contact with another shop to have the tires installed at a higher cost. Whether there was a system issue or not, the customer shouldn't be treated in the fashion I was treated. People in the back shouldn't be laughing at me, they should be doing their job since they are "short staffed." I shouldn't have to load dirty tires into my car and have to call people to come help me at 6pm on a week day. Your staff should have figured it out, and attempted to remedy the situation. But it wasn't important enough. We have four cars, all foreign and all with expensive tires that while need to be replaced sooner or later, this shop WILL NOT earn that business. read more

I would recommend never taking your car here. My family had been going here for years, but will not be returning after our last visit. We took in a 2004 Ford Focus with around 120k miles on it, still in fair shape to investigate a rubbing noise the car was making. They said we need to replace a few things, one of which was the control arm which they said had crack in it. The parts and labor was quoted at $1100 and they recommended not doing the work because the car isn't worth that. In fair condition the car is worth over $2500 private party and $1300 trade in on KBB. They recommended not doing the work and said just to put the parts back on the car would cost $400. So they offered to take the car off our hands for free. One of the guys said he'd like to use it on his family's farm (very strange). My brother (not a mechanic) did the work in about 8 hours total and spent $300. Not to mention he found no crack in the control arm like they stated and the most expensive cost in their quote. I wouldn't even let them work on my vehicle. When I dropped my vehicle off on a Friday, I told Jimbo exactly what I needed done to my van. I had previously had two separate people hook my van up to a dyno, so there was no mistaking what I needed. I also needed my air conditioner worked on. Jimbo informed me that the guy who does all of that was on vacation, and wouldn't be back for about a week. So, I told him to not worry about the air conditioner, but I needed all of the other work done. Change plugs and wires, a belt, and an 02 sensor. When I called back the following Monday to see if the work was being done, I was told that I needed a new catalytic converter, and that the plugs and wires had been changed 6,000 miles ago (that would translate into a year and a half ago). I didn't need a diagnostic run. I knew what was wrong with my van. I don't know what kind of a scam they are trying to run, but they won't be running it on me. I called and told them not to do anything, just park it in the lot and lock it up. I wonder if they would have run that diagnostic if I were male. **UPDATE** When I went to pick up my van, one of the mechanics (I recongnized his voice as being Scott) was so utterly and completely rude to me that I will NEVER go back there. His rudeness was completely unwarranted, and certainly not a way to try to make amends with an unsatisfied customer. This place is horrible. read more

Very unhappy. Went in for a oil change with a coupon I got in the mail. They recommended replacing the cabin filter but refused to show me the old one. I do not think the mechanic looked at it in the first place. I later pulled the filter out from behind the glove box and it was pretty clean. Then they charged me quite a bit more than the coupon price for the oil change, calling it labor and shop fees. Was not told about this up front. I think the coupon was very misleading. Many times over the years I have dealt with Scott and always been very happy. Scott was not in that day and I think I dealt with Jim and another guy. read more

Without a doubt one of the worst experiences as a customer ever!!! I purchased tires for my father to have installed on his vehicle for Christmas. I called this location and spoke w Jeff prior to the tires delivery to this location to ensure that the process would go smoothly and he assured me that it would although he wasn't overtly friendly or helpful. When my father arrived to have his tires installed at the scheduled time, multiple staff members told him that we had in fact ordered the wrong tires and then that they may have sold the tires that I bought for my father. They later came back and said that the person they sent to look at his vehicle looked at the wrong one. Once the tires were installed, the tire pressure alert in my father's truck went off. The staff suggested that the alarm was on prior to installation and had to be asked more than once to assess the situation. In addition to the inept staff (Jeff, Chris, Scott) and their disrespectful attitudes, they also overcharged my father for the installation. They advised that they issued a refund but 7 days later, no refund has been received. DO NOT DO BUSINESS AT THIS LOCATION! The staff are less than professional, disrespectful, and predatory in their business manner. Oh and they also show no respect for military vets AT ALL! AVOID MR TIRES AT ALL COSTS! read more

I have been dealing with Mr. tire for 10+ years. Had them put new tires on one of my vehicles and the damaged the rim. Took it back for them to repair, went back today and the rim is still damaged. I have never had damage to any vehicles since dealing with them, this is the first. This is the first time I dealt with this gentleman, first time seeing him he there. Jimbo and Scott have always treated me with respect and professional. I told him the rim was still damaged and he said you need to leave my property, I told him I had before and after pictures and he just kept telling me to leave his property, I am calling the police. He just kept getting smart and telling me to leave, they didn't damage my rim. My husband gets out the car and he said I am calling the police you threaten me, I was line what. I threatened you, he then said I didn't say that. I guess if you call them out for something they damage, you are a problem. I told him to call the police, I will wait for then because I done nothing wrong, just complain about them damaging my rim. After 10+ years you have to deal with something like this. As long as everything is good they are good, as soon as you tell them they damaged something you become a problem after 10 years. read more

I Have gone to this location religiously for the last decade. They had, until the last year or so, done flawless work. Well, in the last 100k miles they have done every oil change. Mind you, it it just easier, I rebuilt my own transmission, valvetrain, etc... but having my oil done in ten minutes for the same cost as oil, filter and disposal fee is nice. Well, I was doing a coolant flush, trans drain refill drain refill, and a power steering flush at home and said what the hell, i'll change my oil... Well the oil baffle under my oil cap was bent and torn. This can only happen by putting pressure over 20lbs on it. The manager, Scott, refused to take the blame for this mishap. All I wanted was an apology. Nothing more. I had every inention of removing my valve cover and adding a new seal anyway. Two other mechanics both agreed that someone had just jammed a funnel in there. Well, I did the work myself, heated it with a torch and had a spray bottle of ice water... reforged and shaped it and filed it to normal. Mind you the metal had collected on my magnetic crank sensor, so I replaced that, reset my valve clearances, reclocked my vvt sprocket, new gasket and I was good to go. Well, since I complained to corporate, they now refuse to work on my vehicle lol. So, I guess the tires with road hazzard and what not are pointless to have. Anyway. Steer clear of this location at all costs. But if you must... please specify that only Keith touches your vehicle. He is a great guy and a good mechanic. read more
