This was my first time at this establishment and with it being Cinco de Mayo, it was busy, but not slammed. We were seated right away, but I saw another group of 3 wait so long to be seated that they left. The ambiance is fantastic and the servers were friendly, although not attentive. The food was so good and the margaritas went down smoothly! But we sat with empty drinks a lot and slow service. Thankfully, we (my boyfriend and I ) enjoy each other's company immensely. If we didn't, it would have been a frustrating experience. Will I go back? Of course. Will I recommend it to others? Yes, but don't be in a hurry. You're on island time. read more

Great Mexican food! Family owned, welcoming and helpful. We had enchiladas, flautas, tacos, rice and beans. Everything was super flavorful and fresh. Super cute inside with plenty of space. If we ever return to Galveston, we will definitely hit this spot again. We might even go again today before we leave-we're from North Texas and we only access to Tex-Mex. This place is a mess not sure how it has good reviews. I'm only giving it two stars because the DJ was good. I think that has a lot to do with the good reviews. This is was my experience: - When we walked in we were ignored for a long time the waiters looked overwhelm so we still decided to give it a chance. - The waiter placed some dishes on our table they were dirty; one had salsa and another one had purple onions. When I saw one of the waiters I called him over and he raised his hand basically signaling for me to wait. - Next, we ordered a paloma and it came in a broken cantarito (that could have gone wrong if I would have never used the straw to drink it). - As we were waiting to place our food order a group of people got up from the table and left. One of the waiters shrug her shoulders as if she didn't care that had just happened. The service is definitely not good these waiters are careless and not friendly at all. - Food came out it was just okay nothing special, I ordered the fajita plate and my cup of beans was not filled not even half way. The appetizer which was stuffed jalapeños were good. - When the tab came out I was getting charged for a water bottle I never ordered. Luckily, I checked my receipt. Omg!! I wish we have this Mexican restaurant in Dallas. We were visiting and we stopped by and turned out to be the best of the best Mexican restaurant. We were lucky to find this restaurant and there was a live music going on. I felt like I was in Mexico when I waked in. I ordered tacos, fajitas and ceviches. Everything was excellent. Also my server was very professional and caring. Pricing for their food was very cheap and the quality was 5 stars. I love warm salsas and they make their tortilla chips. This place was full of potential but failed in many key areas. My wife had the birria tacos. Flavor they were 5/5. The platter came with two tacos, two tacos!m for 13$!!!! The tacos hardly had any meat. They also gave her a cup with a few tablespoons of charro beans. How are two Birria tacos a meal? Any other place I have ever been to a Birria taco meal comes with 3-5 tacos. I had the "Mexican burger," that was supposed to come with a chile torreado (a blistered Jalapeño) it did not come out to me like that. This is based on their menu. The waitress tried to dismiss this by saying it comes with jalapeños en vinagre or nacho style jalapeños. They also try to pinch pennies by giving out tiny cups of ketchup and salsa. They probably spend more money paying for small plastic cups and paying people to fill them with ketchup and salsa. The Mexican burger was not like a Mexican burger at all. It was a giant bun with a small patty that may have been beef, and a dollop of guacamole with nacho style jalapeños. After I brought it to the attention of the waitress, she argued that the burger didn't come with a chile torreado, I told her that's what their menu says, she asks if I want one, I tell her that's what I ordered, she finally brings it. The flavor was good. Without it the burger would have been no better than a $2 McDouble as Mcdonalds. The men's restroom had watered down soap, no paper towels or hand dryer. The women's restroom had no soap. How do the employees wash their hands? The employees were nice when they actually interacted, but they would be absent for long periods when issues came up. First and last time here, I hate to say it, but this place is a dud. read more

Honestly speaking I would not recommend this place at all, you can definitely find something cheaper and worth your money somewhere else. Me and my family decided to try something close by, we found this restaurant, what seemed to be a nice spot, turned out to be quite the opposite. Service was okay for the first 20 minutes, after that it was like we basically didn't exist ! My family and I patiently waited for our server to come and check up on us, well we didn't see her after she served us our food... We sat at our table with empty dishes for 25+ minutes trying to get the attention of any other server/busser in sight, who would only take a slight glimpse at us and give us a look as of asking us to, "wait" , which I understood but after sometime we were basically chasing around not only what seemed to be the manager, but other servers. After running around we finally got our check and some to go boxes. When showing us our bill to make sure everything was correct not once did they mention that a gratuity would be added for our table of 6, of course the tipping was no issue, the issue on hand was that they never disclosed this, so not only did they add gratuity without informing us we gave another tip on top of that ! The food was mediocre at best I can say, proportions were rather small, and not very filling, you'd think a bill of $120+ we'd walk out satisfied, sadly not... Food was severely undercooked so please make sure to check your food before going in for a bite !!! This staff needs immediate training on customer service. read more

Quite the little gem in the middle of an eclectic small storefront on the sea wall. Nestled in between mobile beach rentals, a daiquiri to go, a tattoo/smoke & gift shop. We were staying at the Four Seasons on the Gulf and you can't beat the convenience of a 2 minute walk to eat is so much better than one finding parking and two paying for it. They have a small seating area of 3 booths and a 2 seater table in their main entrance (2 outside benches). It looks like they also have a functional larger/venue like area with several more booths and an operating bar but it was lights off on our visit. I definitely could see them using it with the amount of patrons going in and out. Tacos of plenty are available. My go to is usually street tacos which they have a 4 mini street taco option (9.99) that includes the traditional meat options of pastor, tripitas, barbacoa, & carne asada topped with onions and cilantro. I opted for the specialty taco menu and went with the chicharron tacos (love me some pork skin for $11.99). It comes with a side of rice and beans. The beans are made with pork fat and sliced hot dogs, I wasn't a huge fan but threw in the rice and ate it up all the same. The Mangonada deserves its own blurb (20oz $9.99). This has to be the freshest concoction I've ever had and sets the bar high for future orders. I watched them cut up fresh mango and lather my cup with chamoy, pour drink, top with fresh mango, chamoy drizzle, and sprinkle of tajin. And BOOM tamarindo straw. Great little Mexican spot on the seawall. Full bar and big menu. We were seated pretty quickly on a busier night. 7 Vegan Options on the menu for those who need it! We even ordered a dish to go for later. The one complaint I had was that they don't offer complimentary chips and salsa, and don't even have the option to order them on the menu. We had to ask and were told it was $3 for an order. (Also, the salsa is green salsa and was so good, but a bit on the spicy side, the chips are homemade and are delicious. It was the only ticket up.. After standing there waiting for 15 minutes (lets be real, ceviche is already made, and requires minimal effort) I asked about my order. Apparently the cooks in the kitchen got confused. About what IDK. She turned and said "2 mins please " After much more than 2 mins, (I got my food at 329 pm), I left, all to be super disappointed at the lack of flavor and the TORTILLA chips in my box. On the menu on the wall it said plantain chips which I was very happy about, since I didn't want all that inflammatory corn. Good thing I am not allergic, since this would've been a disaster. We were in town for 1 night before heading out on a cruise. Mr. Taco was in walking distance to our hotel, which made it seem like a good choice. My husband and I ordered 2 margaritas with Don Julio silver, queso with chips and grilled fish tacos. First off the margarita's were the worst we have ever had. We Both agreed that they tasted watered down. For $15 each I would expect better. The queso was nothing special, just out of a can and the chips were good. They do not offer free chips and salsa. The grilled fish tacos were really yummy. We did enjoy these, but the rice was cold. We personally would not eat at this place again. We also had to ask for new plates, since both the plates at our table had chips on them. No restaurant should ever have plates with visible chips on them at any tables. read more

The upgrades to the Seawall location are fabulous. Wonderful ambiance and you can choose to sit at the bar, in the music room where the dance floor is or a quieter dining room. Service is hit or miss but we have always been pleased. The food is wonderful- not Tex Mex so if you're expecting flavorless grease doused in cheese you'll be disappointed.
