Absolutely wonderful service. Got my 13 year old ready for 8th grade :) LOVE the awesome ocean view while listening to old school jams outside on the patio. This place is just perfect. Will be back again! read more

Six star service. This establishment is a legit barbershop and my son had an amazing experience. He's gone to barbershops in Washington DC, Virginia, and several in San Diego. I'm grateful for Mr. Roby's attention to detail and expertise and we're so glad we found his new regular stylist. read more

Frank is the man! Happened to walk by and needed a pre wedding freshen up. Frank was super friendly and said he could fit me in before an appointment. The vibe was outstanding- great cut, awesome views and even better conversation. I'm recommending Frank to ALL of my friends in this area and even considering driving up to make him my regular barber (I live 45 min away). I see a lot of complaints about price, which is ridiculous. You shouldn't be surprised when you're in Del Mar with a view of the beach. If you want a $20 cut, go to Great Clips. If you want an awesome cut with a personal touch and support a great, local business owner then Mr. Roby's is the spot! read more

Mr. Roby's Barbershop - Haircut with a view! - Barbers Near Me - Del Mar, California

Frank does an AMAZING job cutting my little man's hair. He takes his time to make sure the cut is exactly what I asked for and even goes above and beyond to make it an experience my son enjoys! The view from the shop is nice and you feel right at home here. 10/10 would recommended this shop! Thank you Frank! read more

Mr. Roby's Barbershop - Burst fade with a design - Barbers Near Me - Del Mar, California

My son had his first *real* barbershop experience here and he can't stop talking about it because it was so wonderful! Mr. Roby is very kind and professional with mad skills. My son left looking SHARP! We will definitely be back when we are in town. Adding another 5 stars for the best music around!!! Thank you, Mr Roby!!! read more

This is a hidden gem- he and the team does a great job, easy to park, great coffee spot next door and super location. Highly recommend!

He did a very good and efficient job. Charming to chat with. Knows how to use a straight razor - you can trust him. Having your hair cut outside and in view of the ocean is an experience! Be warned it comes at a cost: $65 plus tip for a man's haircut in 20 minutes. read more

Been going to frank every 5 weeks for for 3 years now, always gives a great cut! What's up frank

Great service, Great haircuts and barber shop, kids and adults Kids really like their haircuts read more

Excellent haircut. Good suggestions for style changes. Good location with nearby parking. Very nice man!

After looking at previous reviews, i was confident that Mr. Roby could execute a low fade. There was no fade. Just an undercut all around. Just straight up buzzed it to where a high fade would be. He used a 1 all around. Gotta grow it back out now and find someone i can trust. Not looking for a refund or a "fix" or any attempts to rectify the situation. Bcuz there is no fixing. There's no reason he misunderstood. Only 3 things were said in that chair. Low fade. Keep the sides. Dont touch the top. All instructions were ignored. read more

Scheduled an appointment the day before for 1100 and I showed up 15 minutes prior. His shop looked like he was working on the place or renovating and texted me that he would be there in 20 minutes. I wait until 1130 with no updates. After I left and scheduled another appointment elsewhere, he texts me that he is there around 1200 after I had already waited and left. He apologized but this is just bad business. read more

Mr. Roby is an amazing character. He has set up his barbershop near a street corner in Del Mar so that it all happens outside in a small outdoor building entry with a fountain, + ocean views, always ready with a friendly honest greeting for anyone who walks by (and has treats ready for all the local doggies). For the half hour that you are there, it's more like like a public plaza than a barber shop (where you go to meet people, catch some sun, and, bonus, you get a haircut too!). By now, everyone in the community knows Mr. Roby (even people driving in cars make a point to yell 'hello' out the window). And yes, the haircuts are great. read more

I've been going to Mr. Roby for a couple years now and he's been my go-to barber ever since. His haircuts are consistent and look great right away. You know you've gotten a bad haircut when it needs to "grow out a bit" -- with Mr. Roby, you'll look good right away and the haircuts always grow out gracefully too. I highly recommend Mr. Roby if you're serious about your hair. I've never had a better haircut. Thanks, Mr. Roby! read more

I finally found the local barbershop I have been looking for the past 6 years! The cut is really nice and clean, and Fred and his staff are really nice and friendly! read more

The cut was good. It was a bit more than I expected to pay. $55. He did wash my hair. Not sure if he was charging extra for that. If so I probably would have passed. They also don't take any major credit or debit cards and made me go to an ATM to pay cash. Super awkward and inconvenient. Nice guy but I'm not the person that wants to pay $55 to get a regular cut. read more

I visit Del Mar about 3-4 times a year, for the past few years I have been wanting to drop by Mr. Roby's shop and today my son and I finally made it happen. My haircut and shave were on point (and I am extremely picky), Mr. Roby is very talented. He creates a very comfortable and peaceful vibe, great background music and of course you have the gorgeous view of ocean in front of you with a nice little breeze kicking in. I felt at ease right away, Mr. Roby and I conversed about our kids, life, and about the simple joys in life. I am pretty good at picking up on energies, I'm a psychologist, the man is a good soul- throughout my haircut everyone in the neighborhood kept passing by and waved to say hello to him. His prices are very reasonable, my son and I are already looking forward to our next trip to Del Mar! read more

BEST BARBER EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD. This guy is a staple in the community. Probably the only black business in the community as well. He will have a great future and be here for a long time. read more

Came in earlier today for the first time for a cut. Frank is a really chill dude and the view from the chair is priceless and a unique experience you can't get anywhere else. The quality of the cut matched the scenery and overall it was a great experience. Since I moved back to SD I've been looking for a new spot and I think my search is now over. Definitely worth the drive from wherever you are in the city. ProTip: The building had a parking lot in the back if you prefer not to park on the street. Also try to bring cash to make everything easy for everybody. read more

Mr Robey is a star!!! My sons, well overdue first haircut was today and Mr Robey made him feel right at home. My son walked right up and sat in his chair with confidence. Hands down the best experience I've ever had at a barber shop. Great atmosphere, great cut and a whole lot of fun chatting it up with Frank and listening to all his GOOD ADVICE. Go see Mr. Roby! 5 STARS. read more

The GOAT of his craft. I've been loyal to Frank for 3+ years and have followed him wherever he goes. Everywhere else is simply a quick fix to hold me over until I can revisit the master's chamber. Absolutely NO ONE compares to his skill, detail, and finesse. I have thick, coarse, unruly asian hair with two cowlicks that get pulled when cut improperly. Frank is my hair whisperer. I always leave with WAY too much confidence because of my tight taper, crisp lines, and clean fade. Frank is a professional. Next to Leon, there is no one who cares more for his clients. He is quick to respond, will always find a way to squeeze you in, he's a conversationalist, an optimist, and THE barber sensei. If I ever was president, I'd fly him across the world on AF1 before every event. 12/10 would recommend. read more

I've been going to see Mr. Roby at his barbershop for about a month now and cannot be happier. The conversation is always just as amazing as the haircut. Frank is a very experienced barber and often can catch mistakes previous barbers have made (using thinning sheers) and provides a plan to get you to your desired haircut. He has great availability and an amazing attitude. Definitely have found my go to barber here in beautiful Del Mar. Frank does also have some great bi-weekly and weekly haircut pricing as well which is clutch! read more

For years I always went to the cheapest place I could find to cut my hair and every time I got so nervous they would mess it up I wouldn't go as often as I should. This was my first adult experience with a highly qualified barber and I have to say it was such an amazing experience. I've never felt so comfortable and confident getting my hair cut before today. Frank is worth everything single penny couldn't recommend more. P.S. gaethje is going to surprise you and khabib. read more
