This place seems to be very popular with locals. We came for a very early dinner (around 4:30) and…read moresaw that most of the tables had reservation cards, so it was likely fully booked for the evening. We had the Tajine Kefta with fries and a small Mezze plate with Hummus, Baba Ganoush, Falafel, and Taboulé. The Kefta was moist with a loose texture. It was a little bit spicy and had generous amount of tomato sauce. The hummus and falafel were the weaker of the two mezze items. The hummus is a bit chunky (not super smooth or fluffy). The falafel came with Tzaziki (super creamy and very garlicy). They had good texture, but not super crunchy and crispy on the outside. The Baba Ganoush was really flavorful, deep, fresh, with good texture (smooth with some chunks of eggplant). The taboule was also really fresh tasting and moist. The service here was also notably great. Servers were super helpful and kind. Their bathroom was also quite nice.

I had the Kafka dish, basically lacking in spices and really with a tomato sauce would have been something a college student could have made for ten dollars for four people! My wife ordered vegetable couscous. Couscous( dry) with some sticks of carrots and zucchini. Keep in mind, we have to pay $34 CDN for EACH of these meals. If it wasn't for the beer and the feel to the place....1/2 a star would have been it. Ps. The bar was busy! Yes. I've downgraded to one star. The important part. My Kafka dish was not made fresh or had been sitting so long that it started to have the fat congeal. When I took the fancy cover off my dish when it arrived...a skin had formed over the whole dish and the edges had solid fat forming.

The bartender was new but has perfected his craft before joining the team. He was very into his mixology even with nobody in the bar just yet to view his skills. The prices (like everything in Switzerland) were high, but very worth it for a truly craft cocktail to start the evening.

The Restaurant Fritschi in Lucerne has a mural that shows the history that reflects the city's carnival traditions. The mural is so colorful. The restaurant has been around since the 1600s. Carnival Tradition in Lucerne Bruder Fritschi is a central figure in Lucerne's Fasnacht (Carnival) celebrations. In Lucerne, the tradition of "Fritschi Thursday" is a key part of carnival. Actors dressed as Brother Fritschi and his wife, Fritschene, ride in a horse-drawn carriage through Lucerne throwing oranges and sweets. This reflects a local legend of a 15th-century farmer known for his generosity, who left money to a guild to provide wine to the poor during Carnival. The restaurant is just steps from the Kapellbrücke in the heart of Old Town. A nice stop on our Guru guided tour of Lucerne.

Rindgeschnetzeltes Stroganoff mit Nudeln, Peperoni Champignons und Essiggurken: Sliced beef stroganoff with pasta, pepperoni, mushrooms, and pickles. The "pepperoni" in Europe means peppers. No actual pepperoni came with this dish. LOL. Stroganoff with a little kick. They could've added a bit more beef though. 3/5 Fritschi Pastetli: Fritschi puff-pastry from a very old house recipe. They had 3 menu items that are house specialties so, I wanted to give one of them a try and I picked this. I Googled what Fritschi Pastetli before coming here. Puff pastry pie - I can eat that. You can taste the alcohol. The puff pastry was nice but overall the dish was salty and again, not enough meat. 3/5 A lot of people complained about the service here on review sites but our server was great. The artwork, the old furnitures give it character. The food was mediocre.
