Smack in the middle of the first level of Channel Court is Mr. Johnson. Not a cafe as much as a coffee shop with a small selection of sweets and some premade take away sandwiches and nibbles. Usual coffee menu and small seating area. Most of the sweets are nice, not sure where they get them from; the savoury items a bit less so.
Service is slow. Very slow. There's only two people on at any one time, one person taking orders and one person making the coffee. Sit down, grab the paper or a magazine because it will be awhile before your drink is ready. Obviously not their fault at all, but there is a mobile reception dead spot RIGHT where they are, so you can't even swipe left or write your latest Yelp review while you wait. Ughh.
The coffee? So-so. Italian style (meaning thick, heavy and somewhat bitter). Asking for anything besides a stock standard coffee order results in visible confusion, so best to skip the almond milk or a dry cappuccino. Your options are somewhat limited if you want a coffee at Channel Court, though - You could get it from the bakery near Woolies or upstairs at the Timeless Way (both of which have their own issues), but I would guess most of their business is because their location rather than the quality of their coffee. read more
