Love this barber shop! Been going here since I was in high school, so 17 years now. Mr. Mau has always been an incredible barber, and he employs other exceptional barbers. Some family, some close enough that they're basically family. The prices are fantastic at $20 a pop for a quality cut. They will also treat you like family, and take their time with your haircut. I like the old-school vibe. Good haircuts and the neck shave with warm shaving cream is what makes it outstanding. I waffled between 3 and 4 stars though because they always have the tv on a news channel. I want to relax during my haircut. Not possible with the news on. It really kills the relaxation. The last thing I want during a haircut is to hear about all of the worlds problems. Please turn off the TV or put it on something calmer; HGTV? Cooking? Anything but the news. read more

This is a barbershop. They do a great job. Especially if you are police or military. It is distinctly christian with numerous photos of Mr. Mau's mission trips. I highly recommend Shrey Le, Vicky, or Mr Mau. I forget the other two lady's names but they do a great job too! Don't be put off by the female barbers they know how to cut mens hair. This isn't some salon or supercuts. They care about their work. They know my whole family and remember by hair and cowlicks and taste. I really appreciate the balm they use after the straight razor for cleaning up the edges around the ears and neck. I also like the compressed air to blow off the cut hair. Surprisingly effective, I usually get a shower after a haircut but at this place I don't have to. They absolutely know how to do a fade. I must watch three or four go through while I am there. Lets just be real: don't expect loud music, trendy hipsters, free beer, wax on your hands, a massage, a pool table, or stuff like that. You can get a hot towel if you have a shave. The price has gone up a minor bit because of covid regulations but still the best cut in the area for the price or more. Really good for little boys too. I walked in at 5:35pm and asked for a haircut and a full shave! They were really polite and helpful! They didn't rush even though they closed at 6pm. The hair cut was exactly what I asked for, and the edges were cut by razor, and then wiped with alcohol. The full shave?? OMG!!! The shave was to die for. It came out perfectly with no nicks, or cuts!!!! And perfectly smooth!!! They def know how to shave a man based on the direction of his hair growth!!! I will come here again from now on!! read more

I've driven past this place for years but was apprehensive of it. What a mistake. This place is a hidden gem. They only accept cash and it's $13 a haircut. I remember coming here years ago when a guy named Carlos owned the place. That guy was real salt of the earth...called you by name, gave a good haircut, it was affordable, and would take time out to talk with you. He sold the place a few years ago. Don't get me wrong, the guy who owns it now is nice. The barbers are pretty good, but it just doesn't have that same down home barbershop feel like it used to. Haircuts are still relatively affordable but have risen $2 - 3 in the past year or so. I understand there's inflation and all...but it seems to be getting a little steep for the same product. This is a good barbershop but you could probably find just as good of one in the area for a better price. read more

Worst haircut I've ever had. The older man at the end cut my hair. From the beginning I had a bad feeling about him cutting my hair. I asked for 1 1/2 on the sides which looks like a 3. I took my son there a few months back at the recommendation of my other grown son. There was a guy with a flat top, kind of gray/blonde hair and he ended up cutting my n my 11 year olds hair. He was meticulous!! I don't get my hair cut often because no one can cut my straight thick long hair very well! He was great! I did not get his name and now he is no longer there. I took my son back last month n another guy cut his hair. He did ok, my son liked it, but no comparison to first guy!! Wish we could find him! read more

Otherwise, while it is always fairly busy, you can rest assured of getting in and out quickly. What really sets this place apart from all the other small business owner barbershops in the area is that it features old fashioned straight-razor shaves. Lots of clipper shops in Houston but rarely if ever have I heard of a place that will give you a relaxing straight-razor shave with warm shaving cream and attention to detail.
