One of my favorite spots in the city for a car wash. I love that it's a hand wash because the ones at gas stations just don't do it justice and I don't have the equipment to give my car a proper carwash. They start off with a power wash, then someone scrubs the car in soap, then it's washed off with the power wash again. You move your car to another area, and that's when you get out of the car. The workers dry the car on the outside, vacuum the inside, wash your weather tech floor mats (and dry it before you get your car back), and wipe the windows on the inside. It's very attentive to detail and I love how my car smells and feels after coming here. They do get pretty swamped and the wait does take a while but it's highly worth the wait. You can book an appointment online but the last few times I've been, it doesn't really matter as everyone just lines up and waits their turn. I owe a Subaru and the total came out to be $55! Finding a car wash in San Francisco is surprisingly hard. Most places are mobile wash/detailing only it seems, even more so after the pandemic. It makes sense as this is a convenient option with less overhead (literally) for the business but it doesn't always work logistically. I was happy to find Mr Ecowash at the recommendation of someone as my car desperately needed a wash. I called ahead and was happy they said I could come in without an appointment (you can make them on their site but they didn't have any for the next day when I checked the day before). It wasn't too busy when I went but there were a few cars and it probably makes sense to call ahead or make an appointment, just in case. They have various options; since my car did need a bit more attention I went with extra interior detail which came with an exterior wash also. Overall, they did a good job. In particular, the interior looks good with most things nicely vacuumed and cleaned. The seats had also been cleaned and shampooed well. There was some room for improvement, especially on the exterior. Some water spots and missed areas (a few minor missed things on the inside too but much less so) and a couple places that were either missed or not given enough attention that I was able to fix myself with a towel and some elbow grease. Overall, I was pretty happy though. The price is similar to what I've paid elsewhere in the Bay Area and the outside only hand wash at $25 seems pretty good ($20 more gets you vacuuming and interior wiping down too). I'd probably come back for their Premium Wash which is the $45 basic inside and outside wash and see how that is. They had no issues with my Tesla which is something I always try to look for in Yelp car wash reviews so I thought I'd mention that for anyone looking for a car wash specifically for that. One note is there isn't any seating or place to wait. But the T muni is like half a block away so you can take that somewhere (my car took 2+ hours so that's what I did) and there are a few places that are within 10 minute or so walking distance you can wait at too. Or if you don't mind chilling on the sidewalk, there are some nearby public benches too. read more

I hadn't washed my car in 3 years and there was a decent amount of gunk outside and twigs inside... found Mr Ecowash when I was looking for car washes that had manual washing as well as interior vacuuming, and I dropped by late on a weekend when I had time (though their website does allow reservations if you plan in advance.) They have an efficient setup with 2 people soaping and rinsing at one station, followed by a separate area where another 1-2 people dry the car and 2 people vacuum the interior if requested. Oh wow, where do I start? I had to drive my husband's BMW because my car has been at Land Rover of San Francisco for well over a month and a half! Yes, I'll write THAT review later. I digress. My husband calls from CalTrain to let me know he has spilled a "little food" in the car and he apologized. My thought, "I don't care it's your car!" LOL Nope, he was right to apologize. He spilled what appeared to be a container of COLESLAW (creamy sauce and all) on the driver's side in between the seat and the console. Really honey? Really? This isn't a job that Ican run to Quick Quack or the Shell Station and get the car cleaned! And driving around with the smell of aging cabbage, onions, vinegar, and mayonnaise was not an option on this bright and sunny SF day. So, I hit YELP! I make a few calls and the folks aren't great. Yet, I read the reviews for Mr. Eco and happened to be on his side of town and stopped in. A kind man runs over and sees my sad face and asked me, "What's wrong, what can we do for you?" I said, "I know I don't jabs an appointment but my husband spilled curtido all in this car! Do you have time to fully detail the car inside and out?" He laughed and said "Sure we got you!" He quoted me an AMAZING PRICE and told me to stay in the car while they did an immaculate and thorough job on the outside (see pictures) and then allowed me to sit comfortably in the office while they finished the inside. They gave me multiple options to pay when my ATM chip decided that was the moment to find up the ghost (for real it was time) and I had to leave a generous tip for kindness and thoroughness of this team. These guys are the sweetest! It is my pleasure to drive our cars across town to be cleaned here and it's added into our family budget! There's a self-serve car wash *very* close by (different business), so don't get confused. You're able to book appointments via the Mr. EcoWash website, which I found easy and straightforward to use. You'll have to select "Book Online" to see their prices (which start at $25 for compacts / smaller than an SUV). I believe they also take walk-ins, but I'd confirm that. Price are very reasonable for a full service car wash and vary depending on the size of the vehicle. First time here, figured I'd give it a shot as it was close by. I'll preface by saying that the interior was not filthy, average amount of leaves and dust, dirt, etc. the exterior was very dirty, from off-road driving. When I first arrived, staff was friendly and discussed different options. I explained that I wanted a better interior cleaning and not interested in any exterior treatment beyond a regular wash. I was limited on time. I was told to upgrade to a pricier package and rather than doing exterior treatments, they would spend more time on the interior. About an hour later, I came back, paid for the package plus tip. Being that I was in a rush, I didn't pay much attention and trusted they did a good job. The exterior looked pretty clean. I arrive home a couple hours later, spot checked a few areas and was fully disappointed at the money I just threw away. The carpet and easily accessible areas still had junk, like vacuuming didn't even happen. Pictures show the driver seat floor as an example. This is a small business that doesn't pay a lot of overhead for their building or other fancy stuff like a gift shop and free popcorn. From what I can tell (after my second visit) it's four guys with buckets of soapy water, clean rags, and a shop vac. But I tell you, they do a GREAT job. They hand wash everything, and the only machine they use is a power wash. I have a ceramic coat on my car, and they make sure not to spray too hard on it. These guys are great! Just moved to the area. My car was pretty dirty from the long drive and from being parked in an area where tree and bird droppings were abundant and spiders are quick to make webs. I chose this place because it was close and I wanted to support a small, local business. From the reviews, it was $30 for an exterior cleaning only. More pricey than the automated car washes you can find at gas stations for $10-15 minimum but I was hoping the hands-on care would help for a thorough cleaning. Location is a little hard because it's on the corner of a busy street without a parking lot or good place for a line of more than two cars. Luckily I was second in line. I was able to watch the whole process of the car before me. So you get to stay in your vehicle which is nice when it's hot unless you get an interior cleaning of course. The power wash rinse and soaping was done by one guy mainly and if there was someone free, they'd come help. I got one round of sponge soaping then two rounds of spray that they had. Didn't know what it was but I expect it to be for deeper cleaning. Hand drying was well appreciated and seemed thorough enough. Saw that they paid attention to my tires more at that point which is great because they were filthy. All in all, I was done in about 7-10 minutes. Guys were friendly and the process seemed so easy. Tipped a few extra dollars for their service and because my car was in a sorry state to begin with. From the inside; my car seemed well cleaned. Once I parked my car, I found a few flaws. Some bird poop, probably stubborn remained. Not a lot, just those little yellow dots every now and then. Bottom of the car had some spots that weren't hand dried, you could see the dried water spots. Only found two spots of that. Worst part was my tires. They were inconsistently cleaned and one of them in particular seemed neglected. All in all, it wasn't a horrible experience but I did expect a bit better for the price. Next I'll be trying an automated car wash in the area to see how it compares. read more
