We were referred to Mr.D's by Mike from Charlie's Auto Service( who I recommend as well ) and spoke to Dave on the phone about my daughters car. I explained to him that my daughter had hit a giant raccoon and it did some damage to the car and we arranged for them to tow the car to his shop. CAR OWNERS BEWARE!!! This is NOT the place to go. I have taken my car to Mr. D's in the past and they have been great (2-3 years ago)...or so I thought. My most recent trip into the shop (May 2014), I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the work that was done to my car. I was in an accident where there was basically complete damage to my front end. Not only did they not fix everything properly, but they left things broken/damaged or did not replace things that should have been replaced, and the paint job was POOR QUALITY (drips and dirt particles in paint). Just a few examples of the stuff they did wrong: 1) the hood and bumper did not fit properly. Come to find out, they did not align the car which they were paid to do... it was included in the estimate. 2) the A/C line was damaged and should have been repaired. 3) the fender liner inside passenger side door was not secure. Was no put back together properly by mechanics. And the list goes on. After being so disappointed with the repairs Mr. D's shop did, I DID NOT take my car back to them to get the repairs fixed properly. They totally lost my trust. Instead, I took my car to the Honda dealership in Westminster (my car is a Honda accord). I got a call 1 week later from the dealership letting me know that they had went through the original estimate (that was provided to Mr. D's) and there were 12... read it again, TWELVE things on the estimate that either weren't done AT ALL or weren't done properly. This is ridiculous and unacceptable. They are committing fraud! DO NOT TRUST THEIR WORK!! Go somewhere else!!!! read more

One of the only guys who works on classic cars around here. Dave and Bob seemed like great guys. I had them repair a fender from my '71 MG. Paint matched perfectly and they straightened my bumper out just fine. Took them a little over a week to do the work, and they did a great job. I'll take my next classic to them. read more

I wrote a review once and it seems to have disappeared... well, I will write it again just to warn people of this shop! I have never been more dissatisfied with a shop and their poor work and customer service. I had to take my vehicle back three times and on the third the paint was still a disaster but I couldn't afford to take any more time off work to drive back and forth to make it within their business hours. (Come on, its a shop... maybe being open until 6pm so your customers with "normal" jobs can get there without having to take time off would be nice customer service). Anyways, I was so disappointed with the terrible way my car came out after the accident that I have since sold the vehicle. I just couldn't stand to drive it anymore! Dave and his crew promised it would be just like new... well if fish-eyed chipping paint and runny clear coat is new then I don't know what to say. Watch out! I was under the impression that when you pay for a job the job should be done right. Well I am always learning everyday and I learned this time I will never take any vehicle to MR. D's again. I have a truck that I bought and wanted to get a custom paint job, I have always wanted to get a custom paint job and now I had the opportunity to. Well the first thing was the quote I should have got it in writing but because he does work for our company I trusted him BIG mistake. he quoted me a price and I had a key scratch along the whole side of the truck when I took it in to him, I told him I was turning it over to my insurance company to get the scratch fixed so he told me that would save me some money. Well it didn't he took the 1700 from the insurance company and he originally quoted me 2000 for the paint job and when he was done he charged me 2700 on top of the 1700 he was paid from the insurance company. Well you would thing getting taken for more money and just paying it with out a question I would have at least had an awesome paint job but again I was wrong. when they painted part of the truck they did not take apart the wheel wells and painted it with them on so needless to say the vibration between the wheel wells and the body mad the paint crack and chip. so I took it back to MR. D's and let them know right away so that they could fix there mistake. Now I forgot to mention that the original job they had the truck for over a month, now 5 or 6 months go by and I never heard from them to bring my truck in to get it fixed. so last month I was going out of town for 5 days and I though that would be the perfect time to take it in and get it done, when I saw MR. D himself and told him I could leave it with him the 5 days he said he couldn't get to it that week so I asked him when would be a good time to bring it in. So he told me the following Monday and I said OK i will have it here first thing Monday morning. I dropped off the truck and left it there thinking maybe a couple of days to do the job. again I was wrong. I went down to talk to him at the end of the week because I can see the truck everyday on my way to work and it looked as if it hadn't been touched. So when I walked up to the truck and saw that it hadn't been touched and this was Thursday already I had to say something to him I was now getting real irritated so when he saw me it seemed that he walked away so I just stood there until he came back to talk to me. And when he did he said well we haven't got to it yet. So I made the comment that I am disappointed I thought it would be done by now. MR D himself proceeded to say to my face (Quote : like I told John) *I'm assuming he meant my boss since he has done work for him before.* (You don't have a F*****g clue what I have going on here or what the F***k I'm going through. and he proceeded to say I'll tell you what I will get it done when I can. And if that's not good enough I can take it to another shop and have them do the work and he would pay for it. Well as you can tell by the stuff I have already gone through I knew if I took it to someone else I would probably end up paying out of my pocket. so that being said he said if I bring it in on Tuesday after the holiday he would do his best to get it done. well by Thursday that week he called me and wanted to know if I had the name of the colors other than the white, and of course I didn't know and I told him that, he said don't worry he will figure it out. Well he dropped the truck off at my work just down the street and when I got back to the Office I noticed that he did not fix the other colors and just left it undone. so as mad as I was I told my self I could live with it and drove it home. the next day in the light I could see that he did not paint all of the white on the wheel well he just touched it up and got over spray on the rest of the white so now I have to live with that to. I apologize for the long letter but this is the first time I have ever wrote a review on any person or company. So bottom line He lied to me. He cursed at me. and he cheated me. Dave at Mr D's painted my 1977 GMC motorhome in 1993. He painted the entire motorhome in a medium yellow and three decretive stripes (dark blue, light blue and gold). The original paint job was excellent and it held up for 15 or so years of sitting outside or traveling for 87,000 across country. I tried to get him to paint it again and he said he no longer paints motorhomes. (so sad). I decided to do some painting of some of the bad spots myself and he has been very willing to give me advice on how to select paints and some pointers on how to do the job. Dave is a gem of a person and a highly talented guy at painting repair and restoration. My experience with him has been perfect. I have a '68 Chrylser and got hit in Sept 2013.... yes THIRTEEN! I went to a few major name paint and body shops and none of them could even give me an estimate because my car was not in their computer. I contacted my insurance company and asked for help locating a shop that could and would do an old car. The insurance company gave me 4 referrals. I went to each shop and asked for an estimate and told them the insurance company was paying for the repair. No haggling, just fix my car. To my amazement, 2 of the shops never even followed up with an estimate! Business must be gooooood if you don't even get back with a quote. Dave at Mr D's was the last shop I went to and the first thing that impressed me, was when he asked me if I really wanted to have the car repainted. He felt the car had an original paint job and wanted me to consider just repairing the dent and not repainting. What a breath of fresh air. Dave is a car guy who cares about the car and the car owner. It made me trust him and I decided to have the car repainted. A couple of months later, i picked the car up and I couldn't be happier. I visited a few times while the work was in progress and saw a few finishted cars and each one made me excited about what I could expect and I was not disappointed. After a minor fendor bender, I had a friend recommended this place to me. It is superb, I came in and met Dave - he helped me right away. He examined my car and gave me an estimate in less than 15 minutes. The estimate was reasonable and I asked him if there might be any cheaper options for my scenario. He gave me his expert opinion and I decided to go with his recommendation. He told me that he had to order parts so that work actually wouldn't start until the following day, but I was able to pick up my car just 2 days after I dropped it off! I had to write this review after years and years of relying on Mr. D's to fix everything from scrapes and bumps to major accident damage. With quite a few cars and a couple of kids, I have probably used Mr. D's at least 20 times. The work is ALWAYS exactly as anticipated or better. Dave is great at setting expectations based on the level of financial commitment the customer is willing to make. I always hear, "We could do it this way for this much and it would be perfect, or to save some money, we could do this and it would look really good." I really appreciate having the choice. When I've chosen the really good, it always looks perfect to me. When I choose the perfect, it looks 100% totally, brand new. The work is always done when promised, the car is returned clean with the interior undisturbed. And, if you can't quite make it there during business hours to pick up your car, they'll wait around, or come in early. Dave and Bob are always willing to take time to explain exactly what's going on with the work, or just chat and swap stories, which if you like cars is great fun.
