It's definitely a neighborhood eatery where the regulars and the staff have long standing relationships, adding to the charm. I requested corned beef hash with eggs and a side of hollandaise sauce. But it didn't matter because the rag that was used to wipe it down, was dirtier and smellier that what we started with. Blah!! The drinks and beers are dirt cheap. But after 1 sip of my vodka and Diet Coke, I knew why they were so cheap. You could tell they cut their liquor. Awful practice! And technically against the law. The Diet Coke was so damn flat too. Between the watered down vodka and flat pop it wasn't even worth $1 let alone $4. Tried to get an imported beer. Not luck. Not on tap nor in a bottle. You have 4 choices for beers, all domestic and all unappealing. We were n a hurry to finish our drinks and get the hell outa here. And let me just add- DO NOT use the bathroom. Whatever you do- hold it in!! Don't go into the restroom no matter what! It's a drive bar- but not in a good way!! Buy beer, buy a bottle and drink at home! Or definitely go to another place but here.

I did some research on the magic Yelp machine, and The Daily Diner had that met, and also had great ratings. It's a cute place inside, relatively small, but you're greeted right away with a friendly greeting. They have a solid normal menu and specials on the board (bacon stuffed pancakes? I can't say I wasn't tempted). Service is really solid and the food came out quickly. I decided on the corned beef hash with 3 eggs - it was a whole can of hash! Needless to say that portions are very generous, bordering on huge. The food was delicious, and we'll be back when we're in the area. They have the standards and some surprises at very reasonable prices considering the portion size.

The bigger issue was the bill: our group was charged 20% gratuity even though the menu clearly stated 18%, and the explanation we got was unclear and undocumented.
