5 stars for local legend sports bar! I've met Butterbean multiple times over the years and aside from being a mountain of a man Butterbean seems like a really nice guy. I was excited when a coworker informed me he had a restaurant in town. From the exterior it looks like a dive. The inside is nice. There are tons of autographed photos and Butterbean memorabilia. It was clean with a nice open layout. The servers wear American flag print yoga pants in in honor of Butterbeans trademark American flag boxing trunks. Our server was new but really friendly and attentive. Menu covers the basics, burgers bbq and bar food. I'm told they're known for steak. Every Friday the lunch special is a 10 oz ribeye, baked potato corn roll and dessert for $10.00. My coworkers and I each went for the special med rare w key lime pie. It was a much better cut of steak than I expected. The cook missed the mark on temp a bit but the flavor was very good. The corn was a touch Smokey and delicious. The remainder of the meal met expectations. I brought the pie home to the wife. I was very impressed with lunch. There is a Butterbean brew $1.50 a pint. Not exactly sure what it is and the server didn't know. Next time I'm staying in town I'll have to sample it and report back. If I lived in Jasper this would be my go to spot for a beer. I would be a regular for lunch as well based on today's quality, quantity and value. read more

Great location and really good food. The only thing was the service, took us forever to get seated even though they looked at us multiple times from the kitchen and one of the girls walked by talking on her phone saying she'd be right there and never came back. We finally got seated but then we almost left because it took almost 15 minutes to get a waitress to take our order. We were seated right by the kitchen when one of the waitresses dropped something and started using some inappropriate language very loudly for all of us in the restaurant to hear. This is about to get real, so buckle up. My husband & I came to this restaurant today 02/02/2020 to eat lunch with our children. We wanted to try something new, and drove over an hour just to come and eat here. The 5 star ratings on this place is some bullshit. First of all $5.99 to have a side salad is ridiculous!! My husband ordered the half chicken and when it came out, it was both raw and rubbery. The fried pickles were still doughy. Our kids got hamburgers and they were decent enough. The corn nuggets and onion rings were basically frozen food places in a microwave. We then sent back the chicken and got pulled pork, that's the most awful bbq pork I have ever eaten. I'm not sure how this place is still open? We really werent even that mad until we got our check and it was $70! Seriously disappointed and will NEVER come here again. Arrived at 12:07 with a group of 15 Eagerly received by the hostess. Drink orders soon followed, 30 minutes later our orders were taken. It's now 1:48 and we still do not have food delivered to our table. Had to ask for drinks to be refilled. Disappointed for sure. Maybe the food will be hot. Not fun waiting and watching the kids being miserable because they are hungry. Finally talked to manager, she's not sure why food taking so long. She is going to the kitchen to try to rush them up. The manager said she wIll discount the ticket and will provide appetizers- which we ordered and still Not been delivered. Short staffed? Then don't take a GROUP! Or break up the group. 1:58 food starting to be delivered to the table. After 30 more minutes we are now asked how tickets should be sorted. One apology for taking so long. Let's see how big the discount is. Honestly, there should not even be a ticket. Took 10 minutes before being seated. Only 1 waitress smiled. Which was not our waitress but took care of us. She even took our order. Took 45 min to get food. Then had to wait for someone to come back so we could get silverware to eat with. Left off fries on one order & had to wait in them to cook. read more

Unimpressive. I stoped by because I heard it was a sports bar, well not yet, no beer to be had. The chef salad was on par with that of a hospital. The bbq sandwich could have come from a gas station and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. My waitresses was very nice and eager to serve. I would truly LOVE to give this place five stars and tell you how great my experience was but I cannot. Great location, great atmosphere, the service was not horrible but she was very sweet, trying with all she had and was new to the job. She still gets kudos for her great attitude and constant effort. My issue was the food. It was terrible! Average cost for BBQ in the area but was so bad we almost couldn't eat it. I hope they make some changes in the kitchen and really succeed. I have brought several friends from different states such as Wisconsin and California among others to have dinner in the 'best place to eat ' in Jasper. ButterBeans is now owned by his youngest son . The food is still good . I will no longer do business here . There are many great places to eat in Jasper and this is no longer my go to place . read more

Another disgusting attempt at a restaurant in Jasper, AL. We had a party of 8 to start and were expecting 4 more later. We ordered our drinks and decided to wait for the other 4 before ordering. My wife ordered sweet tea but was served unsweetened. I ordered a bottle of " Stella Artois " when I tasted it..."yuk" , it was skunked, well beyond it's prime and undrinkable. Exp date was 9/30/2018 obviously was not supplied by a reputable distributer. They offered to replace it but all in the cooler were expired so another brand was ordered. The 4 people we were waiting for were running behind so we decided to order our dinners. 2 - grilled chicken dinners with salad (you had to give up the 2 sides or pay another $5.99 for 1 serving from the small salad cart), 1 - butterfly shrimp diner with baked potato ( you had to give up the 2 sides or pay another $5.99 it ), and 3- barbeque plates with sides, I didn't notice what the couple at the far end or the table ordered. Even though the kitchen wasn't busy it took 45 minutes to get our food even though all but the shrimp were already cooked and only had to be plated. The chicken dinner? Couple were satisfied with their meal as was the shrimp dinner customer. The diners with the barbeque plates were all disappointed. The meat was shredded, dry, and cold and we all pushed it aside after a few bites. My sides were onion rings ( 5 cold and greasy, $3.95 if purchase separately) and baked beans (served hot). The last 4 guests arrived as we were being served and placed their orders, 2 steak and salad dinners, 1 grilled chicken with sides, and 1 burger with fries. It was 1 hour and 20 minutes for 3 of the dinners were served, the second steak another 10 minutes. The chicken dinner was served " Joe Salmonelli Style ", the center was raw, cold, and bloody.
