A really good breakfast at a good price. My server was friendly and seemed happy to be there.

My family goes here a lot. Sometimes I ask for little cheese and get a bunch. My brother has gotten undercooked chicken nuggets. Sometimes the servers are rude, I've only encountered one rude one, everyone else is nice. I ordered the number 6 breakfast which is 1 pancake or 2. I specified one pancake and she got two then when I tried to explain it's one or two she said "no I don't wanna argue with you". It seems like the quality has really gone down. The ambiance is great though. It has knick knacks that are cool and you can change the tv. You can't hear anything though because it's practically muted but it's nice. read more

There is very little here for vegetarians including if you do the salad bar. The locals said this was a great place. The staff who were mostly high school teens, we're very sweet...but the food isn't much to look forward to. I couldn't find anything to eat but the Knoephla soup because it wasn't meat based but it came with mostly solid balls of plain solid flour dumplings and very little soup (like 9 tablespoons). I asked the waitress for some more soup and she was kind to give me another cup of soup with just the soup and no dumplings and didn't charge me for it. I couldn't find anything else to eat so I bought some coffee to make my bill a bit more and tipped my nice waitress about 50%. I would have loved some fried bread and Native American eats instead. read more

I placed an order to go. It took about 15 minutes to get my order. The Tuesday special was an Indian taco for $7.50. Not many restaurants serve Indian tacos, so I was excited to see it on the menu. Also included were chips & salsa. For being an American diner, the salsa was fantastic. It was thick & had great flavor. The Indian taco was filling. I also ordered a bowl of knoephla soup. You know you're in North Dakota when this soup is featured on the menu. This traditional German soup was very enjoyable on a chilly fall day. Keep your expectations as low as you can and it will hopefully meet them. I love a good dive. I love a good greasy spoon breakfast restaurant. This is not one of those. This is a dive or greasy spoon without any redeeming features. For instance, one waitress goes on break and forgets to tell the other one to take her table. Food: not good or interesting at all. Really really cheap ingredients. Again, I love good dives and greasy spoons and have eaten at them all over the north woods of Wisconsin and Michigan and others in North Dakota. Also in big cities like Chicago. It's not that... it's that the ham in the skillet seem to be just crap from a Walmart type store. The service is garbage. The menu has nothing interesting. I don't want to really insult these local people who live up here and work there, but this seems to be a place with no effort of any type. read more

Passing through D.L. - sister had been to Mr/Mrs J's - recommended it. Great service - friendly, attentive. Place was packed late morning Saturday but all went well. Had senior breakfasts - omelet/ham/hash b's/toast, pancake/bacon - all just fine. Our own carafe of coffee. Not rushed. Got a small complimentary tasting cup of the knoephla soup when we asked what it was. Clean restrooms. Plenty of locals. Families, seniors, teenagers. Can't go wrong. read more

We have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years and enjoyed the food there... especially the soups, and particularly the knoephla soup. But lately, the food has taken a real downward turn. The knoephla soup has gone from "tell everyone about it" to warn your friends this stuff is terrible. Gone are the tortillas that were available at the food bar, pickled herring wasn't available on the food bar our last visit. Other soups and chilis seem to lack flavor as well. Not impressed. New management? new owners? for us we will find a new cafe read more
