Update March 2026: Nearly 11 months after the installation on April 9 2025 the odor and concerns…read moredescribed below remain unresolved and our upstairs space is still affected. I am updating this review to reflect our ongoing experience. I am sharing our experience with USA Insulation of Connecticut so other homeowners can be aware of the issues we encountered and make an informed decision. 1. Strong chemical odor Immediately after installation our daughter's room had a strong smell similar to burning rubber or a yoga mat. The odor becomes stronger with humidity and it has not gone away. 2. Unlivable conditions Because of the smell our family had to move downstairs. Our upstairs space has been difficult to use since the insulation was installed on April 9 2025. 3. No noticeable cooling benefit We were told the insulation would help improve cooling upstairs. In our experience we did not notice a meaningful difference after the installation. 4. Health and safety questions We asked the company if they could confirm whether the product was formaldehyde free due to concerns about phenolic resins. We did not receive documentation confirming this. 5. Safety Data Sheet concerns An independent environmental testing company told us they could not proceed with testing because the Safety Data Sheet that was provided was missing information and did not follow the standard format they expected. 6. Communication challenges We had difficulty getting clear answers about our concerns and were not able to have the situation reviewed by someone higher within the company despite asking several times. 7. Removal offered with conditions The company did offer to remove the foam at no cost. However the proposal required signing an agreement releasing the company from future claims and liabilities. Because our concerns about the odor and the situation remained unresolved we were not comfortable agreeing to those terms.

We scheduled them to give us a knee-wall estimate ONLY. I…read morewas very clear about this with the nice girl on the phone. She verified that is what would happen when she re-confirmed the appointment. I never got any estimate for the knee wall, because he noticed we were not going to agree to cutting holes in the ceiling, roof and siding, in order to do the entire house. "I want to get you on the schedule today." He finally agreed to email(2) separated estimates. One for the knee wall the other for "demolishing our cape." Nothing....hard pressure sales tactics. Moving on.....

We bought our home last December and quickly realized we were in need of insulation. When you buy…read morea new home it takes a while to get to know its quirks, what it needs and set a timeline for improvements. We put insulation at the top of the list. Our oil delivery costs for astronomical. The house didn't retain its temperature so one minute it was warm and the next very cold. The furnace was constantly coming on and off. A huge expense for our family. Once we had the insulation installed along with air sealing around our entire home we were hoping the next winter would go better. So now that it's winter we can say that our furnace does not constantly click on. Our home retains the heat. We set our thermostat at around 66 degrees knowing it will get up to 68 and sometimes 70 if we are cooking. Our oil deliveries have been way less gallons per deliver, we are using less fuel to maintain the heat in our home. Installers were professional. Clive and his team were very considerate of our home, keeping it clean with drop cloths and removing all the old insulation carefully to keep the house from collecting drops of it. It is amazing how they build up walls in the attic with a small space to walk. The air sealing in the basement has been nice because the heat in the finished portion doesn't kick on as much because its not being sucked out of the house. The job was done in one day. It was our first Summer in the house and we had the work done right before that, so I cannot tell you what a previous Summer would have been like but I can only imagine how hard the A/C must have had to work to keep the house cool. And, the cost must have been really high. Our A/C is in the attic so they insulated the duct work to each room as well. Keeping the air traveling in the duct work cool as it traveled from the a/c to the room. Meaning again, it doesn't have to work so hard to keep the house cool. Genius! I will post this on CT Basement Systems too because I think there are more reviews there for the insulation.
