Anyone considering Westchester Gardens, 3301 N. McMullen Booth Rd,…read moreClearwater, Florida, for rehabilitation should consider other options. It has a 4/5 rating on the CMS Quality Rating Scale (which Medicare gives a facility after their regular inspections) and the pictures on their website show beautiful floors and a nice PT facility; however, my experience was most unsatisfactory. I was admitted from the hospital (August 2025) to regain strength following surgery and before returning home. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by a concierge who rudely commented on my clothes, stating that if they didn't have my name on them, they would be donated. This left a negative first impression as all my belongings were taken away for tagging. In my opinion, the facility's living conditions were subpar, with cramped and uncomfortable rooms. There were two patients per room with little storage for personal items. The one chair per bed for visitors was filled with supplies. My visitors had to edge sideways past the end of my roommate's bed to reach mine only to then stand due to lack of seating. Walkers had to be maneuvered to open the door to the bathroom, enter, and close the door. Cleanliness was also a concern, particularly in the bathroom. I had specific requirements for toileting and an assisted clean-up rarely occurred afterward (for me or the bathroom floor.) I was a resident for 3 days and did not have a change of sheets or help with personal hygiene. My dietary needs were disregarded; I was supposed to be on a high-protein diet to aid my recovery but was given no choices. The meals provided were abysmal, and I'm attaching some pictures to illustrate the poor quality. Everyone received the same meals, and mine often went uneaten.. On the third day, I woke up in excruciating pain in my shoulders, rating it a 10/10. I was unable to push the call button due to pain; my roommate wheeled herself into the hall and yelled for help. She was told that many people were in pain. Several minutes later, a staff member came into the room asking about my last pain medication dose. Barely able to respond, I said, "I don't know," while she stood there. Frustrated, I told her to get help or I would call 911. She didn't respond, so I struggled to dial the 3 digits. EMTs arrived to remove me to a hospital. The whole experience was disappointing and detrimental to my recovery. I believe Westchester Gardens did not provide the quality of care or the supportive environment that someone in rehabilitation requires and deserves.

The nurses and aids were amazing. Thank you to Mario and Attila and all the other nurses and aides who cared for me. Thanks to Mike and Karen and Anita and all the other senior staff members for all their support and help along the way! Big hugs to Chris from R.I. who worked in supply and who encouraged me everyday. She was such a blessing. She needs a big raise! Aviata is a great place to be cared for and I'd give it a 10 and would recommend it to anyone who needs Care and Therapy. Thanks for everything Aviata it was a pleasure to be treated at your facility!! I'm on my way to a great recovery! John Piana.

She was there for a month…read moreand half and should have been released when she finished with the physical therapist but was not. She was pretty healthy when she went there. During her last week or so there, I saw that she was just lying in bed out of it, so I got her discharged when I saw her state and sent her to a hospital. Found out at hospital she has Covid and had a mini stroke, but no one in that place did anything for her that week. The nurse had given her some steroids but nothing else. They did not contact me to tell me about her just lying there for a week, not really eating, etc. I would not recommend this place or do not send any family there. If a hospital wants to send a family member to rehab, don't use this place.

She is professional, helps him feel comfortable, and is able to get him to follow instructions. She makes a consistent effort to feed, clean, and exercise with him, and includes both mental and physical activities. She is self‑motivated, hardworking, and needs only minimal guidance to meet our needs. She is truly an asset to BrightStar. Our other regular caregiver is Honesty, and we are very happy with her as well. She has worked hard to gain my dad's trust, which makes it much easier for her to help him. She is great with all aspects of the job: she cleans, cooks, does laundry, and communicates well. We've seen her improve over time, and both my wife, Kathleen Sloan, and I are very satisfied with her service. We hope to have her as a regular caregiver in the future.

The intake RN Chassity was thorough and upfront about care, timing and pricing. One thing she told us was that BrightStar was an agency committed to helping BOTH of my parents in case of an emergency or natural disaster/hurricane even though only my dad was the patient. This was invaluable to me as I snowbird and cannot always be in Florida with my parents. I'd like to recognize each of our caregivers from BrightStar-- Melissa--the first caregiver in the home. She had a difficult job wooing my dad into accepting help but, she was graceful and knew her job so well that he was totally impressed and receptive to her care. Dino--Very flexible. Dad didn't want to shower that day but, Dino allowed him to wait while she moved forward with housekeeping. She gave him a bath in his recliner-- difficult but, we were so grateful that she could convince my dad to clean up. Dino jumped right in and completed many tasks with grace and professionalism. Angel-- She came as an unscheduled visit because dad was declining. (Kudos again to BrightStar as we called and they were able to send Angel within 1.5 hours!!! Excellent service response!!!) Angel recognized right away that dad needed more help than she could safely provide. Angel did the right thing and called her supervisor for help. The supervisor came quickly and they worked TOGETHER AS A TEAM to help my dad! Again-- AMAZING customer service by BrightStar!!! After tending to my dad, Angel continued working efficiently helping strip the bed and do laundry. This agency was recommended by dad's doctor. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
