    Loar 310F Mandolin

I visited a Sam Ash store in search of a mandolin. They were going out of business, and were sold out. Fortunately, the sales associate recommended Moze Guitars. Walt helped me purchase an F-style model. He tuned it for me, answered all my questions, and set me up with a tuner, strings, and picks. He even found a ukulele case that was donated to the store, and gave it to me, no charge. I'm an absolute beginner, and Walt and the other folks at Moze were very welcoming. I came back a week later, and Walt assisted me with attaching a strap. I have a couple of books on playing the mandolin, but when I'm ready, I'll be back. Moze works with an instructor, Mark Madruga. I have his card. I'm really glad I found Moze Guitars. It's not a huge superstore, but well-stocked. The guys are terrific, and very helpful.

I've been going off and on to Moze since the 70s? And as you can read in the reviews, sometimes you get lucky and deal with one of the old timers. I had the misfortune of having to interact with a guy at the front desk for my experience who was unpleasant, condescending, and a liar. I brought my G and L in for a setup and to have Fender noisless pickups installed. The first issue was it took far longer than originally estimated, almost a month. The second was the setup was too low and the strings buzzed - It was so obvious even Walt, one of the old timers concurred. The tech took it back and fiddled for a minute and handed it back. When I got home it was still buzzing so I raised it myself. I also noted the intonation was off. I then noticed the pickguard was extremely warped. I took it back and showed it to Walt and the tech. They said it was an old pickguard and warping was natural, that I should go to a few websites and look for a replacement. I got home and did some research on replacing pickguards, and while I was inspecting the guitar I noticed that the issue wasn't warping from old age - The issue was the tech had tried to cram the larger pickups into an area they weren't designed for and the pickguard was now raised on both sides. I took it back again to show them and my front desk guy tried to tell me they had explained the issue to me. That's a boldfaced lie. I was told it was age. At any rate, I told them to put my old pickups back. And I also mentioned while they were doing that to check the intonation and setup, as I had been forced to fix the setup issues myself. When I picked it up I asked about a partial refund (The setup and pickup install was $150) In my view the tech should have called me as soon as he realized the pickups weren't a good fit and were distorting the pickguard. Front desk guy blew up. According to him they had set the guitar up three times for me which was totally false. And he felt they had done me a favor by not charging me to re-install the old pickups. I told him I'd let the bank figure it out since I have to now dispute the charge. Gene, another old timer, had assured me the work was guaranteed for 30 days when I initially dropped the guitar off. Word of advice: If you do bring something back be prepared to be villainized. The worst part is they screwed up my vintage G and L. See the photo. They cracked the pickup and installed them incorrectly, once again distorting the pickguard. There was not a space there when I dropped it off. At least the setup feels better, although the intonation is still not right. Hopefully they haven't messed anything else up. I should take them to small claims court for what they did to my vintage guitar I've had for 20 years. So be advised. This place isn't what it used to be.

This place is phenomenal. Great service at great prices! Everyone is so knowledgeable! Got my guitar set up by Kenny and it plays like a dream! The passion just flows out of this place! Not to mention Gene, Walt and Moze have stories for days! Oh and dogs welcome :)

Brand new Fender player strat set up perfectly by Moze Guitars.

I brought in my brand new fender player strat and I was nervous to hand it off to anybody but these guys delivered early and made me feel like my guitar was in good hands. They don't just blindly take in your guitar and put a cookie cutter set up on it and call it a day. They will inspect it in front of you and pick your brain about your preferences to tuning, strings, and are more than happy to make suggestions if you don't know. If you love your guitar, they will absolutely love it too. They kept complimenting the look of my guitar, so I knew they wouldn't forget about it like most shops. I'm sure if you brought back a guitar for adjustments, they would probably remember you, your axe, and the case it came in. They gave me a week estimate but got it back to me within a few days playing WAAAY better than when it came out of the factory. They said I can stop by any time if I need any more adjustments. I was so happy with these guys, I ended up leaving a bass with them that same day. I love playing my guitar so much more now and since the color stood out to these guys so much, I've started calling it John Mayo. I've left an acoustic 3 weeks ago at another REPAIR shop in the Clairemont ZONE and I still haven't gotten it back. In the mean time I've gotten my guitar in and out of Moze in a fraction of that time. I will never go to another guitar shop unless it's Moze. To all those who have been searching for the best guitar shop in San Diego, this is the place.

Moze has working on several of my guitars and I appreciate their specialty, which is set-ups, repairs and custom builds. This is a store to buy great used gear and have expert luthier services done in house. I trust them to have fast turn around and my guitars cone out dialed in.

Gene worked on my Fender Strat (Mexico). The best repair service in So. Cal.

Excellent work on an expensive guitar ahead of time and under quote. Definite competence abounds in this shop. Should be 10 stars

Big shoutout to Norman and Dave--once they were able to help, they were knowledgeable, patient, and helped me land a really good deal. At first it felt like assistance was a bit slow. The floor looked busy and it seemed like there weren't enough staff for the number of people trying out guitars and effects pedals. But once things opened up, Norman and Dave made the experience smooth and enjoyable. They answered my questions, let me properly test the guitar, and didn't rush the process. In the end, I walked away happy with the purchase and the overall service. If you stop by, just be a little patient--when they get to you, the team knows their stuff

I'd like to give a huge shoutout to Fabian at the La Mesa location of Guitar Center…read more To every drummer and percussionist out there: if you have any questions or need real guidance, talk to Fabian. The guy truly knows percussion and drums inside and out. Honestly, he's one of my top five reggae drummers, and beyond that, he's an incredibly humble and attentive person. What really stood out to me was how patient and professional he was throughout the whole process. He never leaves you waiting forever, he listens, gives you options, and genuinely tries to find the best deal possible for you. He knows how to create value in a deal and make you feel confident and satisfied with your purchase. I had previously started a deal with another employee, but the experience was completely different. Fabian stepped in, handled everything the right way, gave me flexibility, and made the whole experience smooth and positive from beginning to end. As both a customer and a drummer, I highly recommend him. Great professional, great musician, and great human being. I'll definitely be back for more drum gear and accessories in the future. Thank you again, Fabian Serrano -- and thank you, Guitar Center. Much respect, brother. See you next time!
