I suggest you download a WiFi calling app for voice call or we used Facebook to communicate with family. I never once used WiFi at the hotel and continuously used Orange 4G LTE data instead. I needed a screen replacement on an iphone 5 and what I thought was a battery replacement on an iphone 5s. I went to Recambios Movil and explained both problems. Both the lady and the man were super helpful! I speak a little Spanish but not enough to discuss these issues and they both tried their very best to speak in English (they have a great level by the way). He gave me a quote on the spot and I decided to go with the cheaper option of replacing the battery on the 5s. Once he opened the phone he realised the problem was actually with the motherboard, and not the battery and explained how it would be very expensive to fix and frankly not worth it. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on fixing the screen on the 5 because I'm a student and so money is pretty tight ;) But he did me a HUGE favour and offered to do it for me at a really really good price. I'm so so grateful, he spent so much time on my problems and only charged me for the replacement of the screen. If any of you have any problems and are looking for a place in Barcelona I cannot recommend Recambios Movil enough. They're genuinely helpful and are completely honest. I went along with his suggestion because I needed wifi to work while on vacation. I clarified that the sim card should be able to work in other European countries because I'm traveling around Europe for the next 30 days, and he assured me it will. I paid a total of 125 euros for the whole thing, after he showed me that the sim card and the new pocket wifi worked well. The pocket wifi and the sim card did work while I was in Athens but it stopped working after I left Greece. I did not have wifi or internet service while in Malta, Italy, France, Spain or Portugal which I visited after leaving Greece, which was promised to me. The pocket wifi unit I bought also did not have any instructions in English (everything was in the Greek language, so I had no idea how to use it. I emailed him about it, and he said to look it up online. To this day, I still can't find any link to such information. I felt cheated, and am complaining about the experience with Vodafone. End of story. This is the last time I'm buying Vodafone stuff, I feel it's nothing but a POS.

I was in Spain for 3 weeks and I was constantly using my GPS and navigations apps to get me around and to stay in contact with my local friends there and in the US. I also texted a lot too, but I did switch over to WhatsApp later in the trip. I wanted to ensure I did not use all of my data and I rode the subway system and trains a lot and it seemed WhatsApp operated best for that. I paid maybe $20 or so for my package of 4GB of data and have no regrets whatsoever. It was that price because they were having a special during my trip. I paid in Euros, and forgot to track that expense, but trust me it was less than $30. Google maps I had a problem with, but not my service. I went with HERE maps after missing my speed train to Girona because of Google maps. I replaced my nano sim card in my iPhone and got a Spanish number to deal with all my communications. My phone is unlocked. The place was busy when we were there, but the wait was not long. Maybe 10 minutes at the most. I am not fluent in Catalan or Spanish, so I had them set up my phone for me. I was able to speak with the guy in English, while my friend spoke Spanish to ensure I was getting what I asked for. I traveled outside of Barcelona and did not experience any problems with my cell phone coverage either. Thanks Vodafone for enabling me to really enjoy my first trip alone to Barcelona and experience that great culture and cuisine there. My phone was my lifesaver as I depended on it as a safety device for my survival to explore a lot of area fast and efficiently.

Data works no problem which is fine for mapping your way around town. Calling home? not so much. Weeks into the basically pre-paid plan and no international calls work. Have been to the store 3 times to correct, with each time being " It should work in 24 hours" but only after staff member calls their own Tech Support to get things cleared up. Complained on Facebook about this and the reply I received was "to top up/recharge my SIM card". I've never used the credit ON the SIM card I purchased from you. Why would I top it up!! I thought Orang was bad in France (plans that had an expiry date on credit). Vodafone is like Rogers in Canada; the biggest player in the market BUT customer horrible service.

One of the gentlemen spoke English well enough to explain what they would do to try to clean it in order to keep the repair cost low. He warned that it may result in breaking the screen, the screen protector or the back of the phone. Within three hours, my phone was fixed - and it only cost 30 Euro. Nothing broke. I was very worried about what I may have lost, and I couldn't imagine waiting to get home to try to get it fixed, because phones have become such a necessary part of air travel. I had done some googling on the hostel's computer and it looked potentially hopeless but I took my phone to iFixIt just in case, because of the great reviews they had. Within a few minutes of me getting to the store, the attendant opened the phone and showed me my Home Screen again! What a wonderful sight! He said that he had seen this situation before and it was due to moisture getting in through that horizontal opening at the top of the screen (in this case probably from putting phone inside bra on a very hot excursion), and he could fix it by swapping out a part. I was shocked, as none of my googling had even mentioned this as a possibility. He gave me the option of letting him try to restore the part and preserve facial recognition, which would take a few hours. I said sure, and walked around for a while.
