***BEWARE*** Hired MMS on Feb 27, 2023 for a move and paid a $300 deposit the same day. They were to arrive on March 5 at 11am. At 1240 I sent a text that they were over 1.5 hours late with no contact At 2:11 I asked for a refund as we still had not contact and wouldn't need them any longer There were several attempts at calling as well, at approx 3pm I received a call from them that there was a problem with their last move and "the police had his phone" and he promised to refund 3/5 4:40pm asked why I hadn't seen the refund yet 3/6 9:30 PM asked why I hadn't seen the refund yet 3/7 They replied that they were in North Dakota and would refund that afternoon 3/8 requested the refund again Yesterday asked again and still no refund, and no communication. I reserved 2 guys for 2 hours to help load my belongings into a trailer....only 1 guy showed up almost 45 minutes late. He was trying to do all the work himself and ended up ruining my couch. He would've damaged many of my other belongings if my dad and I did not step in to help. Since my dad and I did majority of the work, and the other help didn't show up, the owner offered to refund me the full amount I paid. After many calls and texts, I have not received my refund. I unfortunately have to submit a charge back through my credit card company. Very unprofessional, poor communication, and does not care about their customers belongings. 7/6/19...TOTAL WORK TIME: 1 HOUR 15 MINUTES= $240. Movers were 9 minutes late, took a "smoke break (6 minutes)" less than an hour after they arrived, they left 30 minutes early & I still paid full price AND tipped them $20!!! I did NOT EXPECT TO STILL BE DEALING WITH THIS A WEEK LATER!! My main problem is with the owner, he is uncooperative and unprofessional. Movers damaged my furniture and I caught them when they did it... I CALLED THEM DOWN, ALSO! Ken (owner) told me he would send a form to fill out, he did not. He insulted me and told me, "they said your furniture was not in all that great of shape in the first place". 7/12/19 4:14 pm I have been calling over a 5 day span (4 TIMES RECORDED) and waiting for an insurance claim form. Today I called and said I was upset with this situation. 7/12/19 4:43 pm Ken (owner, Manager, president, whoever) called and yelled at me for 8 minutes and 30 seconds, about leaving this review. He said his lawyer was pissed and I would be getting paperwork about defaming him. He was also making excuses for the movers being in 100 plus temperatures that day. According to Accu Weather, the high was 84 that day. He said he would call me tomorrow morning (7/13/19) "when he cools down", that he had been mad since he read my review. Mobile phone was on speaker phone and I do have a witness. 7/13/19. 11:34 am I HAD TO CALL AND LEAVE KEN A MESSAGE BECAUSE, AS USUAL, NO CALL FROM HIM. He did call (11:42am 7/13/2019)and tell me he was sending the insurance claim form. 7/13/19 12:42 PM recieved instructions on how to proceed with 1st step. INSURANCE CLAIM IS THE 6TH STEP, so I may be dealing with this for another 2 months. I Sent photos of furniture and building damage, as requested. read more

BEWARE, DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY REASON! If it was possible to give these guys a negative number on a review I would. I hired Moving-Made-Smooth originally through Hire-A-Helper to load PODS for us for a long distance interstate move. We had a staggered POD delivery having one POD show up early to be packed, and then additional PODS to show up a week later to complete the move. They showed up for the first POD and were supposed to arrive with three people, and only showed up with two. They loaded that POD and then told me that I should just contract with them directly for the loading of the other two PODS the following week as "they had far better insurance for the move than Hire-A-Helper". They also promised me they would show up wiuth 3 people on the final move day. I also relied on them to tell me if I needed one 16 ft POD and one 8 ft POD or two 16 ft PODS to complete the move. They told me "I just needed a 16ft and an 8ft POD to finish the move and "everything would fit". Come the final moving day, they show up with only two people. They begin to load the PODS and as the day progresses it looks like it will not fit ll our stuff. I kept asking if we needed to get a 16 ft to replace the 8 ft, and was told no, they would make it fit. Come the last couple of hours I can see that they will not be able to fit everything and ended up having to rent a Uhaul trailer, to fit remaining goods, and we still had to leave stuff behind. Additionally, they did a terrible packing job. Boxes labeled DO NOT STACK or THIS SIDE UP, were placed on the bottom of the stack and on their sides. Furniture was packed without proper pad placement and stacked in complere disarray. By the time we received oour goods at the other end of the move, the movers we hired t unload the PODS took one look inside (after they had to pry the POD doors open because of poor packing) and literally said "Who packed this, this is terrible" and they could see immediately that much of our furniture had been damaged due to poor packing. I have been trying to contact this organization now for over a week. They will not answer calls, they will not return voice mail messages, and will not respond to emails. I am not able to contact them or their insurance company and I now have a household of damaged furniture, broken items that were and marked fragile and do not stack that they packed at the bottom of the load. Ken Schoner, who runs this company specifically LIED to us about his guarantee of taking responsibility and having "great insurance" for any items that may get damaged in the move. So in addition to incorrect estimate of the POD sizes that we needed, having to rent a last minute Uhaul to tow 1500 miles, having to leave goods at the curb because we simply could not fit them, charging us more for the move than he "guaranteed me it would take, we ended up with a load of damaged very expensive furniture that requires repair or replacement, and now being ghosted by Ken Schoner as he will not respond and take responsibility for the damage or problems he has caused. Take a lesson from my experience and DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY OR KEN SCHONER UNDER ANY SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES!!! SAVE YOURSELF THE AGGRAVATION OF BEING MISLED AND OUTRIGHT LIED TO. Needed a move and got Moving Made Smooth on Uhaul's website for movinghelp.com. Booked this move and Ken, the owner responded and agreed on the move. The day of move which was supposed to start at 9 am didn't happen because the movers didn't show up or respond to my calls . It was very hectic because I needed to call in family (mostly female) to help with the move. I get a call from MMS days later with a story of why they didn't show which sounded questionable to me. I told, Ken, the owner I didn't believe him. Supposedly, a helper fell through a plate glass window, had to go to hospital, owner didn't get to sleep until 3 am and then overslept for my move at 9 am the next day! read more

LOVE THIS COMPANY! I needed to move from a one bedroom to a two bedroom, and after moving over the past 21+ years being a military brat, this move was the MOST efficient; ever! The two guys who showed up are professional, punctual (major plus with me!), focused, and ready. All I had to do was pack, label, rent the UHaul and within the two hour window I reserved them, success! Moving my crap from a one bedroom apartment and the two guys, Graham and Cory, were able to get everything into our relo-cube quickly and efficiently. They broke my fridge(took the door off,then couldn't get it rewired when he decided not to continue), causing us to have to return to Lincoln this week to get the fridge repaired. The primary reason for us to hire movers was to move the fridge. Otherwise, we could have loaded the truck ourselves. Owner offered to reimburse, but at this point, short of reimbursing us for the entire move, it probably won't be enough. I think we may have invalidated the refrigerator warranty...as the Samsung technician will obviously ask why we screwed around with the wiring. Now, we have a broke refrigerator that has to be repaired if we want to sell the house. We rented a 20 foot Uhaul which is rated for up to a 3 br apt. We sold nearly all of our furniture so all they had to move were boxes, a bbq grill, picnic table......but they filled the truck up, and now we have to rent another truck to get the rest of our stuff moved. Moving made NOT smooth. First I'll preface this by saying I understand things come up and schedules can change. I'm pretty adaptable. I had the WORST experience with Ken and his company. I called and scheduled my move (it was a 2 stop move with a treadmill at each stop) and initially booked 1 stop with 3 men for a couple hours. Went out of my way to ensure I received their confirmation email with invoice. Noticed they even charged more for labor than what was on the website. Then I called back to add a stop and then another hour as I wanted to be sure to block out enough time. Asked about the labor rates and was told they changed and then asked if I was okay with that. Said sure. Thought everything was good. Then on the Thursday before I received a confirmation call from the company confirming my move and time. I then called back Friday to ensure the team had tools to move the equipment and detach the guard rails. I was assured they carried tools and it would be okay. Fast forward to the day of the move. I had already reserved a truck and coordinated schedules for 3 people to make this happen. I show up at the initial stop at 10am. No one is there. I decide to call the company at 10:10am to check status and was informed by Ken he was just about to call me and let me know if scheduling mishap. He totally threw his office manager under the bus. In a calm way I expressed my disappointment as I rented a truck and coordinated schedules. After going back and forth for a few minutes and with Ken offering to now do the move for free, I asked one more time - can you get this move done today and if so what time? I was assured by Ken that yes they could get the move done today and it would be between 1 and 2pm. To call him in an hour to check status. I called in an hour and Ken was like it's looking like 2pm. Said he would call me. I called uhaul changed my drop off time and coordinated schedules again. 130pm comes around and I haven't heard from Ken. I called. No answer as a matter of fact it went to voicemai early as not I was called his personal cell phone. Waited another 30-40 mins nothing from Ken and called again, this time the office and no answer. This was June 14th. As of today I have not heard from Ken or his team. Not that I'd use him now even for free. I should have known when he said that he had no plans on doing the move. This is sad because I used the company once before and had a great experience. I will never recommend or use this company again. Ken is a total flake. Buyer beware. read more

I have moved several times in the last few years (entire house moves, twice from out of state, with both taking under four hours with two movers), and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. I booked them at the end of June for mid-August. Mind you, this is NOT a whole house move. This is a couple of bookshelves, small tables, a chaise lounge, and many boxes of books. Probably about a room and a half of stuff, all told. I told them this and that there was one flight of stairs at the apartment to which I was moving. They said that was no problem, and that they didn't charge for stairs (*spoiler* they will COMPLAIN about the stairs until the cows come home though). They thought it would take two movers two hours to complete, total price quoted was $350. They called the Friday before to confirm our 9 am appointment the following Thursday. Thursday at 9:30 I called to check on their ETA. Ken called me back about 10 minutes later and said, "Sorry, just found out one of my guys got injured and had to go to the hospital." I ask if they have other crews to help out and he said no, but that he is "the owner of the company and I'll do my best to get there by 11 and we'll get you moved." I let him know that I only had the truck until 2:30 and he said, "Well, just call and tell them you need an extension." At this point, I'm not happy but I figure it can't be helped and I just need to deal with it. Eleven comes and goes. At 11:30 Ken calls again and tells me he is just leaving Omaha (the move was from Ashland to Lincoln) and that his wife is coming to help: "She's done this a lot with me and she's pretty scrappy." His wife Carrie arrives at 12:15. She immediately starts putting boxes on the truck without checking to see which might be the heaviest. I asked how the guy was that went to the hospital and she looked at me blankly. She said, "Oh, I didn't hear about that. We do have two guys out with Covid!" Ken arrives about an hour later and asks what is in all the boxes. I tell him they are mostly books and he says, "That's not what any mover wants to hear!" Hahaha, I guess it's cool that you think I have too many boxes of books, but you are a MOVING COMPANY. He and Carrie continued to complain about how many boxes of books there are for the duration of the move. They got all the boxes loaded first, which seemed odd to me, and then said "ok, we're done!" but hadn't loaded the furniture yet! When I pointed this out, they seemed to not remember that I had shown them the furniture that was going. Finally, the truck was all loaded at 3:15. I said that when I booked the job I was told it would likely be a 2-3 hour job all told and that I was not happy that I was going to be paying so much more for a relatively small amount of stuff to be moved. Ken then said, "We charge by the hour, not the number of rooms." I drove the rental truck to the new apartment. I arrived there at 3:45. Carrie immediately told me she had to be in Bellevue by 5 pm. They brought the furniture up first, groaning loudly and complaining about the stairs. This is a brand-new complex. The stairs are private and go right into my unit. They are wide and the tread is deep. There are a lot of them, it's true, but that is why I hired movers! So neither I nor my parents who came to town to help me unpack had to move anything in! Carrie left. Ken came up and said, to my mom and me, "I shouldn't even be moving any of this. I'm an old guy! I have a double hernia and cancer. It's gonna take me a while but I'll get it done." I have no words to respond to this. He then said, "I won't charge you for the time since we left your old place, and we'll just work out a fair price, okay?" He did unload everything into the garage so that I could get the truck back. A friend of his joined him at 6 pm and was not wearing the right shoes (since he didn't know he'd be helping) and so moved everything barefoot. At least he was fast. At 7:45 that evening, SEVEN and A HALF HOURS LATER, all my stuff was finally in my apartment. I got out my checkbook and he said "Let's just say $600." My jaw dropped. I said, "Really? Wow" and he said, "Yah that seems fair." At this point I just wanted him gone so I wrote the check. I wasn't planning on giving him a tip but my mom is a nicer person than me and gave him $40. I would recommend finding ANYONE else to help you move! read more

From the get go, this was a fantastic experience. Ken and Carey were both very reassuring and communicative. Movers were amazing, Manny and (Forgot his name, my bad), they worked hard the whole time, were friendly, accommodating, and made this whole moving experience amazing. What two men and a truck quoted for 8 hours of work, they did in 3 and half hours. Made my move way cheaper than i expected. Paid ~$320 (with tip) while I expected to having to pay out ~$525. They were very diligent in securing the items in the UHaul i rented, as well, they organized the items into the UHaul like a tetris master. The only negative comment i have to add is the ordering process. I was confused if i actually scheduled the movers or not. And how long they are scheduled to help. We moved into a temporary residence in January 2019 and these guys were awesome. Moving Made Smooth was my first and only call to have someone relocate us to our home on 1 August; they did not disappoint. Corey and crew worked diligently to move our belongings, stage them in the right areas, and then get us unpacked. They had a good move plan and were careful with our items. Despite our job taking them into overtime, they knew it was important to us and focused on getting the job done. They didn't leave until we were satisfied. I called them to get a quote on a move and was very impressed with the sales person knowledge, the only thing that caused me not to use this company was the fact that they do not provide a truck they are labor only. They explained I could rent the truck but I have back issue and I'm not able drive a large truck. I hope they get a truck soon because I would love to use them. read more

The movers did an excellent job with being kind and they did a great job protecting my home during the move. The problem for me was they put my $600 poker table on the concrete floor and scratched it. They also put a huge scratch/gouge on the top of my shuffle board table ($600) because they put a 9ft Christmas tree on top. They said the damages happened because we got a flat tire which non of the items I am speaking of were in that truck. They were damaged because of the unloading and putting a wood table on its side on concrete and putting a tree on my shuffle board table. I had a mirror that looked like they laid it on the sidewalk also and corners on a dresser that were damaged. They will not return my calls or text messages. The one time they did return my calls the Woman was very very extremely rude. She was yelling and calling me a liar on the phone (unprofessional). The rest of the move was okay but I was definitely expecting better. I will let you know if they contact me. Update..... I am not sure what you are talking about. All damages occurred during the unloading of the truck by putting a wood poker table on concrete which scratched it. The shuffleboard table got a big gouge and it's top when a 9 foot Christmas tree was placed on top of it. My 7 foot mirror was scratched when it was lay down on the concrete. None of these items were damaged in the truck they were damaged because of poor unloading of the truck. Nobody failed to mention anything to you your guys were all there they seen the flat tire and the tire was only flat for 1 mile and we drove 15 miles an hour. The owner of the company came over and looked at the damages and agreed to fix them. Then the next day I had a woman call me and scream at me on the phone calling me a liar. I could not even get one word in. I did not have two free hours of moving per our contract. read more

The crew was very polite and actually waited while we picked up a larger truck at their suggestion. We were making a long distance move and had a lot of boxes and furniture. When we arrived we found almost every piece of furniture damaged; huge gouges in dresser tops, corners of tables broken off, glass on pictures broken, finish scraped off areas on tables and even the edges of the tables. The boxes were PILED sloppily and shifted onto other items during the drive. I'm very sorry we used this company, but this is definitely our last move! read more
