Terrible company and service. I bought their insurance for my move across multiple states. I was told by the customer service rep that my items would be covered as long as I listed them. I listed all items and paid a large amount upfront for the insurance. Unfortunately the movers broke my dresser, night stand, desk, chest, and tv stand. They also lost 2 pieces of my lovesac couch. According to the insurance company, they won't cover any of my furniture as it is not real wood. This is bull. I asked the rep when I was buying if I'd be covered. I got scammed and lied to and I would never recommend their service again. read more

I had to hire an attorney to help me figure out how screwed I was by the contract MovingInsuance.com has. Over $4000 in damage was done to my Ethan Allen dining set and $18oo Hammarhof book case by the movers stacking it three levels high, climbing on it, putting a foot through one item, and scratching the rest as they pulled the top items down over the bottom of the pile :( I followed their claims process to the letter, found a reputable, highly regarded furniture repair shop to give an estimate during COVID, got all of my documents in on time including receipts for furniture bought 16 years ago. After all I spent in cash and effort they offered me a check for less than $100, they'd found somone willing do do the repairs for an truly unbelievable cost but I'd have to sign a GAG LETTER. Not worth the $100! My attorney said they'd keep me tied up in reviews for months and in the end I'd signed up and paid for that treatment. I cut my losses but am taking the time to say DON'T do it! read more

Moving Insurance, LLC (MovingInsurance. Com) was stellar, with comprehensive affordable insurance coverage with excellent customer service. Thank you to Gadi Binness' team, in particularTrish and Amanda who assisted me with every detail, to effectively cover my art and household goods for a big move from NJ to Chicago. Fortunately, I have not had a need to make a claim, but being protected certainly was important and provided peace of mind. Practically a scam. Bought insurance not realizing I was only insured for listed items, but that's all I was covered for. Who would have listed a desk and chair (together costing over $2500). So no coverage there. They will try to avoid paying you anything. I was hesitant going in and I never should have bought the insurance. Look somewhere else like maybe a local insurance broker through a major insurance company. That's what I'll do next time. I'll never do this again. read more

Horrible company, and certainly not worth paying extra insurance because you will never see reimbursement for any claims that you file after the move. I moved with my husband from CA to MA this fall, wanting to protect many of our wedding items by adding additional insurance. We very carefully documented the boxes that arrived to our new home in pieces, completely destroyed. Even with the itemized list, links to the original products, and many photos, this company quickly rejected our claim. Don't waste your money on using these people. read more

I do NOT recommend using this third party moving insurance company. I will say that Ethan was extremely helpful in guiding me through the policy upfront. However, my items were damaged to an unusable and unrepairable level by Piece of Cake moving company. I spoke with the Claims adjustor Jana, for several weeks, who offered me a settlement for full replacement value of most of my broken furniture. I then disputed a few of the items that she was not replacing at full value. A few days later, I receive an email and she removed the ENTIRE replacement value of most of my furniture and only allowed for a repair of the items, due to an erroneous mistake that she made, where she did not include the inspector's report in the adjustment. It is unacceptable to make such mistakes, and to not keep the original offer for full replacement value for these items that are a physical hazard to me in my home! I then spoke with the Claims Manager/Supervisor Jeff, who also refused to replace my items up to full value or offer any customer satisfaction besides a $250 "good will," which is not enough to cover for the thousands of dollars worth of damage done. I now have to appeal this process further, and I've been living with broken glass and chipped and dinged up wooden furniture in my home for over a month now! I have splinters in my fingers and glass in my foot, but they still refuse to replace all of this damage! read more

I was filling out their online form to list all of the things I wanted insured. I diligently went to each category, selected things, added them to the list, and did this over and over for every category. I finally got to the last one and filled out a bunch of miscellaneous items. I then added them to the list. Except I didn't, because it told me that I had been logged out. There was no inactivity - this was all one continuous process. I logged back in, and the entire list I had entered was gone. How can I get insurance with this carrier if it erases everything I put in? I cannot. Terrible customer interface. Avoid. read more

If I could give a company zero stars this would be the one. THEY ARE FRAUDS. DO NOT USE THEM! My moving company recommended them so I took out a policy. My movers broke furniture, damaged frames and stole an expensive work of art. Simply terrible. Don't waste your money because It's as good as not having any insurance. Do not let a moving company talk you into getting this as some sort of assurance. Awesome experience here. Reading the reviews below they must have not read their contracts. This company was by the book and my wife and I are happy we used them. The gentleman in the sales department that assisted me was patient and explained the entire process to me. I received emails highlighting the rules for the items in my inventory and how they were to be packed. Some stuff was valuable so the rules made sense to me as they protect my items. Getting this insurance turned out to be the best decision we made during the process as the move itself went HORRIBLY wrong and we lost almost $47k of our belongings. We dealt with Jeff and Kelly on our claim. They went through a thorough check into my move and saw that I followed every instruction that they highlighted during the initial sale and follow up emails. I received a check for the full amount, in under three weeks! We were first devastated but now we were able to replace all our stuff. Nothing but the best from these two! All in all, worth every penny and even if nothing goes wrong, I recommend you buy from them just for the peace of mind. 5 stars!!!!! read more

Guys, this was seriously a really smooth process. Jeff Harrison is the claims manager and is very willing to interact with and consider all aspects of your claim. I recently moved to NYC from Oakland. We couldn't afford the national moving companies that charge ~$10K. But the movers managed to damage much of our possessions. Fortunately, we took out insurance with Moving Insurance. At first pass, they were only willing to compensate a fraction of the value but gave extremely clear guidelines for their decisions. It was then very straightforward to challenge their decisions. In the end, we felt like they were completely honest and transparent with us. Not what you think of when dealing with insurance companies. I strongly recommend this insurance company and make sure to reach out to Jeff Harrison! read more

BEWARE!!!! This company refuses to pay! We followed all guidelines and wrote clearly on the delivery form what was missing. We had several items missing (see attached photo) This is an example of what we are dealing with. If you look below you will see list of what's missing. "box 33, Thermomix, etc. Jeff H said he's choosing to look at this as Thermomix is what was in box 33 therefore he doesn't have to pay for the items lost in box 33. I pointed out we clearly separated this by commas indicating they are not combined and no where on this sheet indicated they are to be combined. The moving company acknowledged these items missing, the movers signed acknowledging this and yet moving insurance.com simply said they will not pay. Do not go with this company!!! I wish we had listened to all the other complaints. Also look on the better business bureau, there are so many people getting scammed by this company. read more

NOPE NOPE NOPE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I did and now I'm paying for it. Pick literally any other company, I don't see how it could be worse. I wish that nothing was damaged in my move. I wish that I didn't have to go through the trouble of filing a claim. But my piano was damaged and I did have to go through the process of filing a clam. But when I found my damaged piano, I was relieved that I had purchased moving insurance. Then... Moving Insurance claim agents treated me like I was a criminal. Their default position was that I was filing a fraudulent claim. Through every turn of the conversation they pointed to vague fine-print that validated them denying the claim. It doesn't matter what the facts are or how thorough you are, you're claim will be denied. It's all about the bottom line for them and will offer menial sums ( in my case less than half of what repairs will cost ) in hopes that you will sign a release form relieving them and the moving company of all responsibility. They will not pay. Do not hire them. It is a waste of your time, effort, and money. Unless, of course, you value being treated like a criminal. read more

This company provides initial misleading insurance information. It is NOT OK to list exceptions of high priced items to be crated separately AFTER money has been paid to secure the insurance. I used Baker in the past for several interstate moves & with this intra-state move I used this firm. NEVER AGAIN will I use or recommend this firm. STAY AWAY. read more

These guys are crooks that NEVER PAY OUT, NO MATTER WHAT. I work in commercial real estate, and read contracts and agreements on a daily basis. I didn't forget to read my contract, or ignore the details. I paid over $1k for an insurance policy with these guys, and when my movers delivered my shipment with nearly $3k of damage to it, MovingInsurance.com paid me $140!!! On $3k of damage! they told me that they do not cover: - ANYTHING that you pack yourself (so unless you get 100% full service movers, forget using these guys for insurance at all) - ANY CHINA or STEMWARE (so anything fragile!) - ANY damage not reported in 24 hours (how are you supposed to notice every possible nick, scratch, or item missing when you're in the middle of moving, setting up utilities, unpacking, and you just had your whole life's possessions dumped out in front of you?!?) I also had an antique mirrored buffet that was moved, and 8 of the 20+ mirrored tiles were broken in the move. MovingInsurance said they would only pay for the broken tiles to be repaired. Well, guess what, they're antiqued with a patina. Not only is that incredibly difficult to find a craftsman that can do that for specific shape/size glass tiles, but it's impossible to replicate a patina from another piece of glass. I let them know that replacing only 8 of the 20 would make the whole thing look like a chess board but they just came back with the "well, it's company policy" nonsense. THEY ARE THIEVES THAT WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND NEVER PAY OUT, NO MATTER WHAT. If you can't find a better insurance company, just self insure (put the money that you would have spent on insurance, put it in the bank, and then use that to buy new stuff if something breaks). read more

This business is a fraud-- it is recommended by moving companies trying to save you money, but in the event of damages, they will find any excuse not to pay your claim, or (if you're lucky), offer you a token amount as a take-it-or-leave-it They additionally have no customer service whatsoever, and do not respond to complaints in a timely fashion Overall, you should buy full protection from the moving company, or just accept that you're moving at risk- don't waste extra money on this scam. read more

If I could give a minus one star, that would be my rating for MovingInsurance.com. I think they are a fraud and a scam. I purchased insurance from Transit Services, Inc when I arranged to have a sofa a table moved from Florida to MA. The move cost about $700, the furniture cost $1500 combined. I was offered insurance and was asked how much insurance. I insured for the cost I paid for the items, $1500. The sofa was damaged in transit and after filling out all the documentation I was offered - $33.00. Yes, negative $33., not enough to repair the furniture. The catch is according to MovingInsurance.com is that you have to insure the items for FULL replacement value! otherwise they think you are trying to lowball on the insurance coverage?! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! You will be throwing your money away. read more

These guys are scammers. Although they don't tell you up front, they have unreasonable deadlines for noting damage, ask you for purchase dates and purchase amounts on items you may have purchased many years ago and essentially require you to submit tons of documents to file a claim. Worst of all, their certificate of insurance prohibits you from suing them in any venue other than New Jersey (their address) so if you're not happy with how they screw you over you have to travel to New Jersey to seek relief. You can't even hire a New Jersey attorney as most claims will be remanded to small claims court ($7500 or under) which does not permit attorney representation. If you buy their insurance, make sure you purchase a changeable airline ticket to New Jersey too. EVERYONE SUBMITTING REVIEWS ON GOOGLE SO FAR HAS GIVEN THEM A TERRIBLE REVIEW EXCEPT FOR ONE GUY WHO HAD NO DAMAGE SO HE DIDN'T FILE A CLAIM! HE'S RATING THEM ON HOW EASY THE INSURANCE WAS TO PURCHASE. OF COURSE THEY ARE VERY WILLING TO TAKE YOUR MONEY. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT THE VALIDITY OF THE LONE GUY WHO GAVE THEM A 5 STAR REVIEW ON YELP. SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE SINCE ALL OTHER REVIEWS ARE TERRIBLE. STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS AS THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!! read more

You should avoid doing business with this company. Just before we get started as one of the other reviewers stated, I did read all of the points in their contract before, during and after my move and it is typical language that an insurance company writes when they have no intention of paying claims. As most of the reviewers have stated, MovingInsurance.com consistently low balls the replacement or repair cost of the damaged items and accumulates the total loss of the claim up to or at the deductible. They also do not fairly and accurately assess (for a given market) the cost to have the items repaired or replaced. In speaking to my moving company, they consistently hear complaints from their customers who want to protect their items, and look to an outside party for that protection. How Movinginsurance.com's operates is to get their customers into the paper chase of providing back to them forms, documentation, pictures and comparable pricing of the damaged items, which by the way we did and spent many hours accumulating. Once that information is submitted, they basically just ignore it. My recommendation is to go with a good mover and hope the move goes smooth with minimal damage. Wasting money on paying them for a policy is crazy! They will not pay for anything. read more

Avoid at all costs. This company is a total rip-off, and has fraudulent business practices. They will find any way possible to get out of paying a valid claim. Just do a search online for other reviews and on ripoffreport. Unless you are a lawyer and are willing to fight with them on the finer points of their "contract", you're better off going somewhere else for your moving insurance needs. read more

Terrible, fraudulent, scam business. If you have a legitimate claim, they will do everything in their power to wage a war of attrition against you. First they made me hire a repairs assessor to evaluate my claim. When the 3rd party I contracted reviewed my broken goods and corroborated the claim, they then insisted on bringing their own private person out. That person told me he agreed with my claims in person, but the moving company refused to show me documentation of his review. They then offered only partial "repair" claims for items that were irreparably broken. I only got 1/3 of the claim I deserved, but eventually had to accept it because i was running out of time on their "deadline" of accepting their claim or getting nothing. This "deadline" was 30 days after they submitted their offer to me, while on their end they took 5 months to review my claim, being completely incommunicado for months at a time when I asked for updates. Their customer service was non-existent, and when I finally did get ahold of someone, they were unclear, uninformed, and clearly trained to be a part of their war of attrition against customers. Don't go anywhere near this company, it's a scam. read more

Worth every penny. The first two times we moved we opted out of purchasing insurance. It was a huge mistake. One of our former colleagues recommended this company since we had to move across state lines with brand new furniture for our new house. Everything went smooth. I'm glad we chose this insurance company because the representives were almost like personal conceriges and made the transition easy. Unilke most companies, they didn't under value our items. They were extremely professional and detailed when it came to providing us with quotes. I even recommended them to our neighbor and she said that they had a great experience. read more

My family used this company as additional insurance and it is a total scam. After we purchased a policy, part of our furniture was lost and other parts damaged, so we filed a claim. The claim was denied since not ALL of the items were lost. This was hidden in small fine print intentionally meant to trick people into thinking that purchasing a policy would over damage as well. So if you buy a policy covering 10 items, and 9 go missing and 1 shows up damaged, they will deny your claim. It's a complete scam and rip off of a company. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. read more

I would suggest staying away from these guys, not to say that similar insurance companies are any better, but these guys simply do not ensure anything. It is like throwing money away. Being insured with them is just a state of mind, not a real service. I recently moved from NY to FL and insured some of the items, a bed, a bunk bed, and a glass-top table with six chairs. I talked to one of their sales representatives, all fine. They made it sound very easy. The online application was easy. All easy until you sign and they get their payment. When the items came, I noticed some dents and one of the bunk bed stairs was cracked. To make it short, I contacted the insurance. Now the fun part. The tone changes. The email language gets pretty serious. They send me a copy of the disclaimer, one of those in a tiny-tiny font that is always attached to the contract. They need you to contact one of their "certified" contracted furniture specialist to assess the damage and calculate the repair amount. They won't allow you to get an assessment from an independent or someone you might know, of course. And their contracted "specialist" is not cheap. And you have to pay for it, all of it. For relatively "small damages", wouldn't even be worth the assessment fee, hoping that their "specialist" would give you a fair valuation of the damage. I see many great reviews about "making it easy" and "how great they are". I doubt that. Once again, I don't think that any other insurance company of this profile is much better, but for sure these guys are not worthy of your business and your money. You will have better luck getting something from the standard 60c reimbursement policy. I hope this helps the others who are thinking about throwing more money just to have that great feeling that someone has their back in case something happens. Moving is a pain. This company doesn't have your back. read more

We had a canoe in our family since the 1950's. Beautiful fiberglass & teak wood. We wanted to keep it in the family so decided to ship it to our son across the county. We used Transit Systems to arrange the shipping and we insured the canoe through Moving Insurance (which was very cost effective.) Although we wrapped it according to Transit's instructions, the canoe arrived damaged. My first thought was the insurance company would give us a hard time paying the claim. Well I was wrong! We were assigned a representative, Kelly who communicated with us via email. We had to give them photos and an estimate to repair the canoe. We had a difficult time finding a company willing to repair, so it took some time. Kelly sent me a couple reminders that there was an expiration date to file. We finally got a bid and I sent it on. The very next day I received an email stating that they would pay the claim and the deductible and payment amount. I find it very rare these days to have such good, personal interaction with a large company. Kudos to Kelly and Moving Insurance. Thank you! read more

I am sorry, but unless you read the "fine fine print" this company will screw you with their "fine print." I had read the reviews so I knew what I was getting into. I took pictures of expensive items, I wrote down anything over $1000 for a claim. I thought I was I was crossing my "t's" and dotting my "I"s. Well, unless you calculate EXACTLY how much weight you have, this will screw you. Good luck with that exact calculation. Now, if you do buy this insurance, make sure you inspect everything within 48 hours. Got that? Have all those boxes unpacked, beds and furniture together because if you don't make a claim within 48 hours, well, didn't happen. The movers broke my bed frame. They did not even tell me it was broken. My daughter found it a week later by looking under the bed. I tried to claim it, it was less than 1 years old and it was rejected. We have an expensive office chair, a nob was broken off and missing. I didn't notice that until after 48 hours, again, sorry for me. I am only giving them one star because their customer service was great. Always responsive. I would not ever recommend them. read more
