Lenders carry more discretion, the leverage points differ significantly, and anyone applying American dispute logic to a UK credit file will hit walls they don't understand. Andre knew exactly where those walls were and more importantly how to go around them legally. What I was not prepared for was the speed. Within days, not weeks, not months, I began seeing movement on my file. The collections were being challenged. The Barclaycard default was under formal dispute with documented legal basis. The Lloyds account was being addressed through the correct ICO and lender channels simultaneously. Seeing actual changes appear on a credit file I had written off, within days of engaging with this man, was frankly disorienting in the best possible way. My mom had counted it many times to ensure the amount was correct. The teller brought it to the table at the back and told her that it was less than the amount my mom gave her. When asked about the small pile of cash my mom thought was part of the cash she wanted to deposit, the teller became rude and dismissive and said that it was not hers. A good teller will explain and even offered to view the camera footage. They prey on the elderly and gas light them to blame it on their old age. They are also on many instances confiscated so called "fake bills" without offering paperwork. Everytime we went there, they are not even friendly. They were only nice when you first opened the account with them.
