I am so glad I did! I was immediately greeted by a warm welcoming smile. The owner, Jason, introduced himself and then his wife. We sat down and went over my needs and old policy. He was very attentive and knowledgable. He came back with a quote that was a lot cheaper than my last company. On top of the better rate I was able to get more coverage. I was very impressed. That was the first time I had a personal touch on an insurance purchase. I usually compared rates on the Internet and didn't think much of it...what a mistake! We used MMI Consulting on our diminished value claim. Our car is an Audi Q7 so it took Matt a…read morelittle time to find comparables (less than a month). He kept us informed of timing and produced a stellar report. I filed the claim and, of course, the insurance company denied it - they always start with a denial. Then I followed their internal appeal process - which they always tell you about in their letters - and right after filing got a call offering to settle. A little negotiation and we had a deal. Time from initial diminished value claim to settling was about 4.5 months. Prior to taking the insurance company offer, I consulted Matt and he was very helpful in setting my expectations. I could fight to the death and maybe win more, but I'd give back some of that in filing fees, attorney fees and expert witness fees, or I could take the offer and move on with my life. In other words, he had a nice, balanced perspective. I'd use MMI again in a heartbeat. And, if your car is damaged and meets the following qualifications: A) no prior accidents B) the other party clearly 100% at fault C) the other party has an insurance company other than yours D) you're willing to file your claim against them and not your own collision coverage E) you're a little bit patient... then you should use Matt too. When the insurance company challenged the report, their primary criticism was that the comparable vehicles used in the appraisal were not the same model year as my vehicle. I reached out to the appraiser for assistance and clarification regarding the methodology used in the report, expecting some support for a report I had paid for. Instead of providing an explanation, rebuttal, or updated comparables, I was simply told that I should be able to argue the points myself. I was not asking him to negotiate with the insurance company on my behalf. I was only looking for support regarding the conclusions and methodology contained in the report he prepared. Had I known that there would be no meaningful support after the report was delivered, I would have reconsidered hiring this company. The appraisal itself may have value, but the lack of follow-up support when the report was challenged was very disappointing. The issue was the lack of meaningful support when the report was challenged.
