I highly recommend Vicki Lind as a career coach. Every session was very valuable, whether it was about the nuts and bolts of building a resume, doing the leg work to find a new and revitalizing career path (as an older woman!), and/or processing my thoughts and feelings about what I wanted out of my next job. Honestly, I would encourage you to meet with her and get the help you need to take on the onerous process of a career change and/or looking for work. read more

My experience working with Vicki and team was excellent, and made a massive positive impact on my career path. Vicki did an amazing job of helping me come to the self-realization of what I wanted out of my career, and then was able to suggest a specific path that is a better fit and more in-demand career than I could have possibly imagined. After spending the last two years or so critically thinking about what I wanted to do with my life, it only took two meetings with Vicki for me to put all that wavering aside and feel amazing about my path forward. Once we arrived at the job title I was shooting for, she helped me to put together a plan of attack, and I went out and got started! I'm now skilled up, marketable in the job market, and excited about what comes next! read more

Vicki worked with me as a career coach over the course of a few months and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I was going through a lot of life changes and at the same time moving away from the career I had been in for over 20 years but I didn't quite know where it was I wanted to head. Her career coaching style is intuitive and thoughtful. All I had were a few vague ideas but she knew the questions to ask and could read between the lines that I couldn't even see to pull out my strengths and passions. She didn't shy away from bringing the whole picture to light as we explored career options - what strengths would x career use? How did I feel about the work/life balance of y career? She even showed me how to use job search sites such as Indeed in ways I never knew. Her guidance helped me to thread together a seemingly scattered and unconnected job history to a huge aha moment when we saw the thread of skills that I had been using throughout all of these varied jobs. I've now landed an incredible job in a new career path and I can't thank Vicki enough, especially for the truly caring human element to the entire process. What seemed like a huge mountain to climb was broken down into steps I felt confident taking after meeting with her. read more

I recently came to Vicki in search of help making a career change. I had been in the insurance industry for over 6 years and was desparately trying to get out. I knew I wanted out of insurance but had no idea what I wanted to do instead. To make matters worse, I hadn't searched for a job in a very long time and had no idea how to navigate the Portland job market. The job-searching game had completely changed since the last time I had interviewed. Vicki was instrumental in helping me find my way. Within 7 sessions, I was well on my way to finding some great opportunities. She helped me hone in on my skills and strengths and how to "market" myself for specific Portland companies. With Vicki's help, I was able to "re-brand" myself in a way that made me appealing to companies I was interested in working for. She completely changed the way I wrote cover letters and together, we revised my resume to help me stand out from the crowd. WIthin 2.5 months, I had landed 3 interviews, one of which resulted in a job offer. I had scored ZERO interviews before my sessions with Vicki. I am happy to say that my last day in insurance is tomorrow and I couldn't be happier. My sessions with Vicki were the best investment I've made in a long time. I recommend Vicki to anyone looking to make a career change and in need of valuable guidance. She makes things happen! read more

I have recently had the opportunity to work with Vicki Lind after moving to Oregon from California. I was at a point in my career where I was uncertain of where I wanted to go and what I wanted to do next. I came here with a career background that is somewhat limited in Portland, and was unsure as to what I might be able to find. Vicki helped keep me motivated and centered on what matter most. She was acutely focused on what I had to say, and on top of current market demands. While I would have a tendency to get off track from time to time, she reeled me back in and kept me on point which allowed us to maximize our time together. She kept me motivated and enhanced my self-esteem. Perhaps even more importantly, she helped me re-brand my image and made me marketable to the Portland audience. Vicki gave me the cultural insight of Portland, which in itself was an inverse of where I came from. She helped me develop the skills needed to network and make important connections that got me in the door for interviews. I was able to better understand the job search in such a competitive market, and landed the career that I wanted, all within two months. My experience with Vicki was amazing. In the short time that I have known her, I was able to re-focus, gain a higher level of confidence, and grow myself as a professional. I would highly recommend Vicki Lind to anyone who is, or who might be thinking of being, in a career transition. read more

I've been a food server for the past ten years, a job I liked, but found myself needing a little more security. After agonizing over what to do for way too long, I did some googling and found Vicki. I met her for one session, but was so impressed by how she immediately nailed my personality. I knew it was a match when Vicki told me that I should never compromise and get an office job. She said I'd be miserable. And I knew she was right. There was a minute that that it had seemed like a respectable idea to do the secure, office thing. But this is why Vicki is so great! She really explored all of my ideas and was never afraid to call me out on my shit. I chose a seven-session package, took the personality and interest tests, and talked my face off while exploring several different career options. By the fifth session I had lost hope that I would find the right career, but we finally hit it! I'm going back to school to become a high school Spanish teacher. Vicki changed my life. If you get stuck it's worth every penny to give her a try. read more

Thank goodness for Vicky! She saved my husband in a big way after he spent months trying to perfect his Linked in profile. This is his first job search in 25 years and he really needed to get some professional guidance on where to begin. After she reviewed his profile and a half hour phone session she was able to help him focus on his marketable talents. I reviewed his profile based on Vicky's advice and there is a dramatic difference in how it reads. I knew he was happy because he stopped cursing and became a much better person to be around. (I actually put the shovel away) So thank you Vicky making a difficult process less scary. He really feels more presentable and confident to tackle his job search. read more

Vicki was just the person I needed to consult with about my career earlier this year. Within two sessions, she helped me to realize that I needed to leave my job and embrace a remote, contract-based career path. Three months into this new journey, I feel happier, healthier and better aligned with my passions and skills. I'm grateful for what an empathetic, well connected and knowledgeable career counselor Vicki was throughout this process. Don't hesitate to make an appointment with Vicki or one of her colleagues - they are an excellent team! read more

Career transition is hard. Very hard. I've recently transitioned out of the teaching field, and many people said to me, "When one door closes..." A quote from Vicki's handbook states, "It's hell in the hallway." Too true. I first came to Vicki on a recommendation from a friend who used her services to get help with revamping her resume. That's what I thought I needed. Just a few tweaks and I'd have a new job in a new arena in weeks. Well, in this economy and with my experience and predilections, that's just not what happened. Nobody can wave a magic wand and get you the job of your dreams. The career transition process is challenging, personal and riddled with anxiety. Vicki is a strong and wise female presence, and she's definitely helped me navigate the hallway. I needed someone a bit more intuitive and therapeutic to help guide me. Making spreadsheets, setting benchmarks and goals, checking boxes--while those things are helpful and probably necessary, I needed someone who could be more of a counselor. She immediately saw my strengths and weaknesses, and through this process, it feels like we're collaborating, rather than someone just providing a service. I can only speak from my own experience, but it seems Vicki has the ability to read the needs, styles and personalities of her clients and adapt her practice accordingly. While my friend just needed help retooling her resume to score the job of her dreams; I needed some help retooling my life. Vicki has helped both of us. I highly recommend her for creative types or people going through serious career transition. read more

Vicki's been helping me with marketing my freelancing business for over a year. But I recently got a job offer, and I'm extremely glad I asked for Vicki's help negotiating. After receiving a full-time job offer from a client of mine, I asked Vicki what she thought I should do. Vicki offered advice on researching salaries and evaluating compensation. When it came time to respond to the job offer, Vicki helped me craft a response with arguments for why I should receive greater compensation. Thanks to Vicki, I got a 15% increase in salary and benefits at my new job. I highly recommend Vicki for both her negotiation help as well as marketing coaching. read more

I've been working with Vicki for over a year. She's been helping me develop my creative freelance business from an off-the-cuff operation to a legitimate business, complete with processes and goals. I especially appreciate how she helps me arrive at my goals rather than dictating what I 'should' do next. I feel like that approach teaches me the thought process and habits that will set me up for long-term success. I've already recommended Vicki's marketing coaching to many of my self-employed friends, and I expect to continue to do so for a long time to come. read more

I don't know what I would have done without Vicki! I came to her after a sudden lay-off. I found the job search process to be so overwhelming and would get paralyzed trying to wade through all of the job listings. Vicki was able to break each aspect of the search (Linkedin, Resume, Indeed, networking with contacts, marketing myself, etc) into manageable actionable steps, so I could keep moving in a positive direction as well as helped me identify the positions that are best matched to my skills and interests. With Vicki's help, I made it through rigorous screening processes and was asked for 4 interviews from all 4 of the resumes I have submitted (and was offered one position) so far. Your job is such a huge part of your life which is why you want someone with the expertise Vicki has to be on your team. She not only knows what employers are really looking for... she really listens to you and can help you find the position that is the best match for you. Thank you so much Vicki for all of your help in what can be a soul-sucking process when you do it on your own! read more

I wish I could say I had a positive experience like many of the other folks on here, but unfortunately I did not. I managed to schedule an appointment with Vicki through one of her associates. After my appointment was scheduled, I tried reaching out to her several times to inquire about what I should expect to pay for my session, and I never heard back. When I met with her, she gave me a few pointers on my resume, and then we spent an annoyingly long amount of time looking for job postings online, and I thought it was an enormous waste of time seeing as I can do that at home for free. I got next to nothing out of our session and walked away feeling very disappointed and wondering why my experience was so different from those who have given 4 and 5 star reviews... read more

I wasn't really sure what to expect when I set up this first meeting with Vicki, but afterward I was happy I did. I am looking forward to working with her and her colleagues to help make sure I'm prepared for those opportunities I respond to in the future. read more

When I moved to Portland, I knew it was an opportunity to pursue my dream career; however, I did not know any person here or any resources to start my journey. Vicki was a dream come true. I found Vicki after searching for the right opportunity in Portland for a few years without any solid results. She really listened to me and immediately understood my background and my goals. After sharing my job search strategy with her, she thoughtfully and strategically guided me to focus on a specific position and industry, which she assured me would make the difference. In two sessions I had a clear proposal and in two more sessions with her colleague, Ursala, I was confident about my resume. Yet, what Vicki really did for me was search through her own network to identify the right person who could be the strongest mentor for me. She reached out to inquire and connected me directly to the perfect person and opportunity that will move me forward in my career. I am so thankful for her insight and direct action and would recommend Vicki to anyone seeking professional guidance. read more

Vicki's brain is one of the most valuable assets to my design/marketing business. I can lay out a challenge I'm facing in great detail and in a moment she filters through all the fuzz and always picks up on the key point, the most crunchy bit, and dives right in to help me assess it. She also provides a consistent sounding board, carefully reminding me of my long-term goals in the midst of my short-term decisions. I rely on her marketing group and one-on-one consulting to help keep me on the path I want to be on. I've worked with Vicki for years and made incredible progress that absolutely I would not have been able to make on my own. I recommend her often and wholeheartedly to other "solopreneurs" out there. read more
