We used Mov8 to buy our house when we moved from Edinburgh to Fife in March 2016, they were fantastic and went above and beyond in resolving issues with the deeds that the previous sellers solicitors had either missed out or plain and simply not done properly! The experience and technical understanding in the team gave us a great deal of confidence in the purchasing process, and although it was quite a complicated purchase it was all completed in time! Thanks to all the team at Mov8 read more

Unbelievably bad service, and not even that cheap compared to most of their competitors these days. Our case was handed around between different solicitors, even offices, and we had no idea who we were supposed to be contacting at any time. They didn't chase up interest in our property, they took a long time to respond to contact, and the conveyancing lawyers that they seem to use (McVey & Murricane) were an absolute joke - patronising, rude, slow to reply, and generally a nightmare to deal with. If I was doing it all over again I'd go with with a much smaller agents and get someone I actually trusted rather than this joke of a company. read more

Hopeless Really helpful with the free valuation , but as soon as you pay the fee no help whatsoever. Each time you call to check when the property will go on the market yo get fobbed off Floor plan on the home report was wrong Went on espc and not on zoopa and rightmove which I paid for , the reason when I called we've been busy Paid for premium listing on zoopla and rightmove, called to ask why it hadn't been put as premium. The reason when I called We've been busy . Sales negotiator is useless, recommend take an offer from a buy to let investor as they were a cash buyer still took 12 weeks. By far the biggest issue with mov8 is the conveyancing company they use mcvey and murricane . Absolute joke can not organise anything . Expect to wait 10 minutes on hold when you call up then to speak to someone who knows nothing about your case , they will tell you the person dealing with it will call you back but it never happens . All the people have no urgency about them and just repeat a script of excuses. Would definitely avoid mov8 , using them will definitely work out more expensive in the long run . read more

Truly awful service when we sold our flat in Corstorphine. We were misinformed from beginning to end. Quite a few incidents occured that left us with absolutely no faith in Mov8, I am involved in the property market through work so know the process and what to expect and I was totally shocked at the ineptitude, the incidents included: 1) I specifically asked before deciding to market with Mov8 whether we would be advertised on Right Move straight away. I was assured we would be. We then noticed our flat was only on ESPC and when we queried this it emerged that Mov8 have a deal with ESPC for exclusive rights for advertising for the first week, so we were totally misinformed. 2) We were told one morning that we had received a fantastic offer for our flat. We were over the moon and accepted it, we contacted the solicitors for the house we were moving to and told them we could proceed, we told family and friends and organised the move out. We were then informed 8 hours later that they were also marketing another flat in our block and they had made an error - the offer had been for the other flat. We were obviously really upset but felt like we couldn't swap estate agents because we had already paid a large upfront fee. 3) During the following week we had viewers turn up at our flat that were organised through Mov8 but that we were never informed of, we had to turn one away who turned up at night just after arranging through Mov8 as we had an appointment we couldn't change and were just leaving the flat, we never heard from that viewer again so he was obviously put off enough not to make a repeat viewing. We had to chase Mov8 for information about viewings and every time we contacted them we spoke to a different person who had absolutely no knowledge of our file and we had to explain the whole situation from scratch again. 3) A week later we received two offers on the same day, one quite a bit lower than the other. The lower one was also conditional on the offerer losing out on another property he was offering on the following day. We got a phone call from Mov8 at quarter to 5 that night suggesting that we set a closing date for the following morning in order to ensnare this gentleman who had made the lower offer. We couldn't get our head around this advice for a number of reasons, firstly that the offer Mov8 wanted us to secure was quite a bit lower than the other and secondly if we set a closing date late one evening for the following morning, that gave other potential offerers no time at all to notice online that there was a closing date and to make an offer, and it had not occured to Mov8 that they would need to contact these people and tell them about the closing date. Luckily we did not follow this advice and told Mov8 we wanted to set a closing date for 3 days time and that they would need to inform everyone who had noted interest that this was happening. We have an estate agency branch in the firm I work in and when discussing it with colleagues, they were absolutely appalled by the advice we were given and couldn't believe any trained professional would suggest this. 4) At the beginning of the marketing we told Mov8 that we did not need them to do our conveyancing . We were assured this was fine and they noted it on file. When we accepted an offer they apparently lost the note that said we were not using them for the conveyancing and our solicitor did not receive the offer for almost 2 days, which caused additional stress when we had thought at this point there was no further way Mov8 could make a mess of things. We relayed all this to Mov8 and we received a £200 discount for all the trouble, however considering the fact that we had such awful service which caused us stress and upset and effectively had to tell Mov8 how to market our own property as they themselves had no idea, we feel this was not adequate and feel sympathy for people using Mov8 who may not have the confidence to challenge their decisions and would accept their errors and awful suggestions. read more

I thought the fixed fees of £600 as advertised were great until that is, I actually started to put my house on the market and had a consultation with their agent. It actually cost me nearly £2000 to get it all started!! Once I got over the shock of the initial outlays, the process was very smooth. There was a slight lack of keeping in touch after the first month and I had to do a bit of chasing them which was slightly disappointing. I know they are a "no-frills" estate agency and are trying to keep costs down but communication is still important so you don't feel left in the dark about what is happening. On the plus side, all the members of the team I spoke to were fantastic and I would recommend Mov8 if you are looking for a no-nonsense approach to selling your home. read more

They say you get what you pay for...if you go for these people you will end up with a firm that has pretty much zero internal or external communication and requires constant reminders to do the most basic things, about which they then frequently forget. I have done a lot of buying and selling property in Scotland and am a qualified property paralegal, so the process is hardly new to me, but I have never experienced anything like this. To begin at the beginning: the photographs were so awful and misleading that I had to have them done again, and even then they were barely acceptable. Regarding the For Sale sign, they do not have the normal option of "Under Offer" or "Sold subject to conclusion of missives" stickers as other firms do; just For Sale and Sold. I missed out on a better offer for that reason, as the person who would have offered the asking price assumed the sale was completed, when it was not. I had to give them my ID details twice (or was it three times?) because they had mislaid them and forgotten I had given them; I was asked for my keys a month after I had dropped them in (fortunately I had had the foresight to ask for a receipt). It is quite clear from the behaviour of the other side that this firm does not command much respect, and they most certainly did not fight my corner. I ended up with no say in the date of entry and concluded missives one day before my move. On the Sunday before my move there was a mad scramble because the person dealing with my transaction had completely forgotten that I had a mortgage to redeem, despite a considerable body of e-mail correspondence on the subject, including reminders from me, over several weeks. And then, on my return from work at 8.30pm on the day before the move I find an e-mail saying that the other side couldn't pay by CHAPS and so would have to pay by cheque - which would take seven days to clear. I had no idea whether that meant my purchase couldn't go through and I wouldn't be able to move. I had a completely sleepless night. I had booked my removals for a specific time (you have to!) but could not be sure that I would be able to move, then or at all. When I called on the day of the move I was told the transaction hadn't settled but to go ahead and move. I got to my destination and was told by the selling agents that due to an unspecified hitch (that's another thing about Mov8 - the unspecified hitches, about which you can never get any information) I couldn't have the keys yet. I sat shivering in my car with my two cats (also shivering) for two hours waiting for information from Mov8. Finally I went back to the selling solicitors and was told all was well. They were astonished (I wasn't, not any more) that Mov8 had not phoned me to tell me. I was amused to note, once my broadband was reconnected a week after my move, that the person who had been dealing with my transaction had clearly not paid any attention to my repeated warning that I would have no internet access for a week and they should either text or phone if they needed to contact me; no: they had e-mailed me. Finally, I twice requested that my transaction be taken over by the head of conveyancing, as I had no confidence in the person who was doing it. The second time I even specified that I knew that would cost more. Nothing happened, and the person continued to deal with my transaction, with the results that I have listed above. I asked for a discount and got a very small one, but it in no way compensated for what I had been through for three months. At the meeting to sign the Disposition I was informed that no other clients stressed as I have done, and, at the end of the meeting, "I'm afraid that's life". A course in customer service would not go amiss. They don't use McVey & Murricane any more, but I can't see how that would have been worse. If you can remotely afford to do so, go to a proper firm of solicitors. read more

Be careful who is doing your home report. Our valuation was really low. We had couple of no 2 because of the building. We've just realise that there is another flat for sale in the same building and they've got no 1 from the top to the bottom and the valuation is much higher.....Depens who are you dealing with, some members of the staff were really helpful and professional. read more

Mov8 provided me with a no frills fixed price estate agency service and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone, or indeed using them again. The brochures were excellent and advertising through the ESPC provided me with everything I needed to sell my property. Some of the upfront costs were loaded but they still worked out much cheaper than the next best quote I received. read more

I have been delighted with MOV8 from start to finish. Everyone I came into contact with was friendly and professional and extremely helpful - from the valuation, through to the sale and beyond. The advice about preparing the flat for sale from the photographer and valuer was invaluable - I'm sure it helped us get a good offer within a week of the flat going on the market. I appreciated the fixed fee and the way that everything was discussed in an upfront and transparent way throughout. I also liked the system of email contact, as it's an effective way to communicate and I always got a prompt response. The only reason I haven't awarded five stars is because I never do - but I have already recommended MOV8 to friends. read more

I am disappointed at the lack of professionalism by this company. My son has contacted Mov8 on a number of occasions to arrange viewings on a number of properties. He has had no phone calls back no reply to emails and no contact at all. If I was selling a property I wouldn't use this company. read more

Really poor estate agent service. We are buying a property marketed by mov8. The photos they used for the brochure were atrocious and didn't do it justice, they were very difficult to get in contact with, 9 to 5 Monday to Friday only which isn't really keeping up with other estate agents. The sold sign they put on our house said 'sold within 14 days' which was a blatant lie, it had been in the market for 6 months. Then the final infuriating factor is that they are refusing to make the keys available locally and are expecting us to make an hour and a half to 2 hour round trip, IN THE MIDDLE OF MOVING to get the keys in a different county! Appalling service. AVOID. read more

Estate agency throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians, Glasgow and the Borders - any residential property of any value, £600 fixed fee estate agency regardless of the value of your property. Conveyancing - very competitive rates for conveyancing carried-out by an innovative and forward-thinking firm speaking plain English and demystifying the legal process.
History
Established in 2007.
In 2007 we founded the business with an emphasis on innovation, use of technology and excellent customer service. Since then we have adapted to the changing economic climate and property market conditions and revolutionised the way that people can think about estate agency. We've taken the question, 'What do you do for your fees?' and broken it down until it's completely understandable. We've taken the question, 'Why should I pay more to sell my house than somebody with a smaller house when you do the same work?' and simply answered, 'You shouldn't'. We continue to utilise the latest cutting-edge technology to deliver a very personal service in a way that delivers excellent results and are one of the fastest expanding estate agency businesses in Scotland.

We used MOV8 for selling and purchasing our new home. We have found their service excellent and very efficient from beginning to end. With selling our house we were delighted with the quality of our schedule and the photos were very impressive. We really valued all the advice we received from MOV8 and their professionalism. Mark Hare from MOV8 assisted us with the sale of our house. Mark gave us excellent guidance and advice in order to maintain interest in our property, and advised us greatly when best to set a closing date for our property we were selling. We sold our house very quickly through MOV8. With purchasing our new house we used MOV8, and again Mark Hare gave us great assistance when it came to putting in our successful offer. Before we put in our offer Mark researched the house we were keen to purchase and he gave us great advice when it came to putting in the offer. Mark always provided excellent communication and advice. We have also used Robin Purdie from MOV8 Financial to assist us with our mortgage requirements. Robin has given us excellent advice and helped us to find a great mortgage product. Robin made the whole process of dealing with the financial side of purchasing a new house very clear and easy to follow. Robin responds to any enquiries very quickly. I would certainly recommend the service Robin provides. I would definitely recommend MOV8. We have had an excellent experience with them. They provide excellent customer service. We felt they worked really hard to get us the best deal for selling and purchasing. read more

Selling a property is always expensive. It's always a bit daunting, and always a step into the unknown. Well we're emerging from the other side very happy with the service we've received from mov8. The costs are always going to be high, whoever you use, but they are definitely toward the lower end of the spectrum, and we've sold our flat in a week. A lot of that is down to pricing, location and presentation, but Mov8 definitely played their part with effective advertising, and a slick sales team and organisation behind the scenes. Paperless documentation made life a lot easier, and they were quick at coming round and getting the photos & home report organised. We had interest right from the word go when the property went live, and had professional and helpful advice when it came to accepting an offer. There's not much I can fault them on. We would always like to pay less, but you'll struggle to find such good service any cheaper, and there's so many costs involved in selling up. They were definitely competitive. Perhaps they missed out on a few details of potential viewers, but only minor details. But there's lots of good, and since they are a young company, they are adapting and learning all the time. They don't come with a lot of the old stuffiness of some of the other legal firms around Scotland, and they're getting the job done very effectively for us. Overall, if I could it'd be 4.5 stars from us. read more

From the get go Mov8 really impressed me. I was drawn to them as they seem like a young and 'with it' company, utilising modern technology to it's full potential (ie. Signing things on line/quick and responsive emails) which as a young professional is how I prefer to deal with things. It was easy to set up the initial meeting, with a really no pressure attitude. Everything was dealt with punctually, thoroughly and politely. Every member of staff I dealt with at Mov8 couldn't have been happier to help, give advice (good advice rather than try and pan me off with some industry speak) and we're always really quick to respond when I had a question. I sold my house, for the full asking price in less than 2 weeks, and I can safely say I think much of that is down to Mov8's marketing strategy and their general 'on the ball' attitude. The all in cost is also something which attracted me, you're given a bottom line from the get go, and that is what you pay, so no nasty surprises at the end. I'd highly recommend using them to sell your house & I wish them all the best in their future success. read more

I was slightly dubious about the upfront fee charged by MOV8, and wondered what the motivation would be to sell my property once I had signed up with them. But I needn't have worried! My flat sold within a few weeks at just a fraction under the HR value and after a tense negociation where I turned down three offers! At every stage, the process has been clearly set out and expectations set on timescales and probable outcomes so I was never left wondering what was going on. I have now chosen to use MOV8 in the purchase of a property, and with their advice and encouragement (and another nailbiting negociation) I managed to get our dream house at 17K under the HR value! Result! I guess it must be very frustrating when your property does not sell, and I think it would be easy to point the finger, especially given that MOV8 do things 'a bit differently'. But never once did I feel that the fixed price I was paying meant that I received lower service levels, and the upshot is that I have ended up just feeling totally smug that I got such a bargain!! read more

Extremely pleased with the service provided by Mov8 Real Estate and Mov8 Financial! Would definitely and highly recommend anyone selling and buying property to use this company. Quick off the mark, knowledgeable, approachable, professional and highly efficient company! Special thanks goes to Andrew Reid (valuer), Scott (valuations assistant), David (photographer), Nick Bonar (Harvey, Donaldson & Gibson home report), Kerri Kivlin (organiser of viewings), Paul Harvey (providing excellent assistance as organiser of selling/buying offers), Robin Purdie who cannot be thanked enough due to being available to seek excellent advice from day or night AND at weekends (Mov8 Financial, organiser of mortgages) and Caroline Donaldson (McVey & Murricane Solicitors conveyancing) all of whom provided a fantastic, personalised service and could not have been more helpful in every respect! I only have the highest of praise for Mov8, we've just completed a sale and purchase through them and would absolutely recommend them to others without hesitation. I liked their refreshing approaching they were clear, efficient and professional. The fixed fee system was excellent and I got exceptional value for money. They made it very clear from the outset how they work -what they do and also what they don't do. I didn't get any false promises or feel that I was paying for services that I didn't want or weren't required. Throughout the process, Mov8 were professional, courteous and approachable. I received regular emails letting me know what to expect at each stage of the process but if I did have any queries, they were incredibly efficient at replying to calls and emails with every query answered quickly and fully. They actually turned our house moving experiance into a pleasurable experiance! read more

Mov8 sold our house and I have to say that they made the whole process much less stressful. We hadn't sold for some time and weren't sure what level of estate agency fees to expect. The fixed fee approach was great as we knew exactly what to budget for. The agent we spoke to was very up front about the price we could expect to achieve and turned out to be bang on the money. They arranged viewings for us immediately and the first viewer were the eventual buyers. I see another reviewer thought it was a no frills service but I wouldn't describe it that way. The various costs are separated out for you so you can choose which frills you want. Overall, we were delighted with the service. From the professional manner of the various discussions to the speed at which the viewings were arranged, Mov8 were very good value for money and I would strongly recommend them if you are thinking of selling. read more

I have recently sold my house through Mov8 and I have to say that I have been very impressed by their professionalism, efficiency and value for money. The property market in my area of Edinburgh is fairly stagnant so I was fairly apprehensive about putting the property up for sale in November. The Mov8 team from office staff to property manager were excellent in managing my expectations and promptly exceeding them. The property sold in double quick time in no small measure down to the snazzy property schedule Mov8 prepared, their market knowledge and their friendly and helpful office staff. We had numerous viewings and eventually sold to the first folk who came through our door. If you are selling house in Edinburgh or further afield I would strongly recommend Mov8. They made what is a very stressful process so much easier. Craig, Edinburgh read more

Great service. We wanted to get on the market quickly and Mov8 pulled out all the stops to help us. Photos and schedule were excellent. Everyone in the team i dealt with gave good advice and kept us constantly updated with developments and what we should be doing. I love the email service and the log on link where you can see everything in one place, viewings, notes of interest, offers. Makes everything very easy to follow. We used the same Edinburgh firm the last two times we moved who were very good but work out expensive in comparison. I had thought the trade off with Mov8's reduced cost would have been a poorer service however nothing could be further from the truth, you get excellent value and an excellent service. read more

I have been very happy with the service provided by Mov8 having just sold my flat after it was on the market for just over three months. I especially appreciated the straight talking, upfront nature of the way they do business there was no uncertainty of what we would have to pay and when. The quality of the initial visit / viewing and schedules was excellent and this definitely helped to pull viewers in the door. Any problems we encountered were dealt with swiftly and corrected straight away. I was particularly impressed with the negotiation process and advice I received whilst finalising the deal. I would definitely recommend Mov8 to anyone looking to sell, especially if you want to do it on a fixed budget. read more

I read all these reviews on different websites and thought this must be the best company to sell with. So we chose them. We have been trying to sell since last November and I know there is not much selling, but feel no-one is helping us at all. All very nice when we phone, but feel like I am speaking to a wall. I have thought about the deal we got, only paying £600 upfront and no fees afetr sold, and now reckon this causes the problem. They're not going to make any more money out of my girlfriend and me, so don't think they are interested. Anyway, now have to make the decision to move and lose our £600 bit annoyed. We must have been very unlucky or these sellers have been very lucky to sell quick. read more

Was attracted to Mov8 for their fixed fee model. The guy who came round was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. He explained how much money we could hope to save if we used Mov8 rather than other firms that would charge a percentage. It was quite astonishing really! The process of getting the property on the market was very smooth and painless. The photos looked amazing! Everyone in the office was super friendly and helpful, and explained everything so simply in plain English. In the end the flat sold in 6 weeks and we got exactly the price we wanted for it. We are really happy with the service we received, the money we saved and have recommended Mov8 to friends. read more

All estate agents work quickly when they get an offer, means a fee getting paid. Sounds similar to my experience, the difficulty I found was when the house wasn't selling, and I became a pest, not so quick to act. Because Mov8 charge the fee upfront, they won't be getting this when they sell unlike other estate agents, but think they will be getting fees from solicitors for passing work on, another reason to hurry oh, and means one less person for them to try and deal with once you have sold. I think the problem here may be taking on more properties than the staff can handle due to charging practically nothing. I did read somewhere about you get what you pay for.. read more

I would strongly recommend Mov8 to anyone thinking of selling a property in Edinburgh. The team is friendly and dynamic, and always available to answer questions. The marketing package is amazing and they will provide you with an extremely efficient approach, which works! The Mov8 team were fantastic for making the process of selling my property very easy. I was very impressed by the professional service from my initial introduction with Jenna to the rest of the team I communicated over email. I sold my flat very quickly which I think was down to the professional photo brochure, friendly manner which Mov8 deal with the potential buyers and Mov8's marketing process. I've been very impressed with Mov8. Fixed fees and very slick professional handling of taking our house on board and putting it on the market. I was particularly impressed with the marketing documentation and the friendly assistance I got from the staff I had contact with. It took over 3 months to move the house but that was more to do with the current housing market and, possibly, the timing [went on the market not long before Christmas and I don't imagine there's much happening in January and February any way] than anything that Mov8 could control.
