Two words about Mountain View - "Exceeded Expectations!"
I have a house in the Wash Park that we renovated and expanded about twelve years ago. We choose Eagle brand aluminum clad wood windows for all replacement and new windows and doors. Eagle is a lesser known brand, which has a following with builders and in commercial and condominium installations, especially in the mountains. We choose them as they had some unique decorative glass and finish options that suited us. At the time we did our renovation they had a sales office in Golden. Since then, they were bought by the much more well known brand, Anderson, but still operates as an independent division. Mountain View Window and Door is Eagle's Denver area retail rep.
This winter we had discoloration form in the inner space of the low-e glass units in a couple of our windows, apparently due to failed seals. One was on a large "picture window" with a small half dollar sized area of minor discoloration, the other on a small unit with a more noticeable speckling of mineral deposits. I had originally thought about just replacing the small window thinking the large one was not worth bothering with.
I checked warranty info I had saved and found coverage for the insulated glass was ten years, so figured this was all on my nickle, and started calling around for bids with local glass repair shops. Prices for just repairing the small window were surprisingly high, and I was frustrated in some cases talking with the receptionists at shops that had trouble even understanding what the problem was and work involved. I figured this was a recipe for a bad experience.
Then I decided I would see if Eagle still had a local rep and found Mountain View. I called them and got a quick response from Devon Tilly, who not only spoke the language and understood my issues, but volunteered that "I know this is out of warranty, but how about if I try to see if they will cover this, including the larger unit?" Devon sent one of his installers out, who measured each, took photos of the defect and manufacturing stamp on the glass, and sent it off to Eagle. We even added a third unit which I remembered fogged in a small area sometimes in extreme conditions in winter, but showed no sign of this otherwise.
Thanks to Devon, Eagle replaced all of the defective units with no cost for the glass (although we did pay for labor). Mountain View's installers were very professional and did an excellent job, removing the wood trim to replace the glass and replacing the trim with no sign that anything had been done. The cost for replacement was not much higher than quotes I had for replacement of just the one small unit. This level of service is rare in the construction biz. Bottom line: I highly recommend these guys! read more
