This rest area is about as good as it gets. I stopped in here late one night in July 2021 after…read moreworking in Casper up the road on I-25 north. Plenty of parking for 18-wheelers, cars, and campers, with a large restroom area (with family restroom). Yet the surprise of this fairly remote rest stop in the middle of BFE, Wyoming was the gas station across the street yet relatively in the same area as the rest stop. Why go anywhere else for gas or eats? Cheyenne is 45 miles away, followed by Denver at 145 miles. By comparison, Casper is 133 miles in the opposite direction, followed by Sheridan, WY and Billings, MT (Billings is 333 miles away). There really isn't too many good rest stop areas to take a breather in- possibly the larger one in Sheridan, which has hotels and gas stations around it. Traveling at night on this stretch of I-25 at night can be challenging. If you are tired and slightly fatigued when traveling either direction in between Cheyenne and Casper, bookmark this rest area. Well worth the stop.

Unfortunately when I decided to come back I dealt with a young woman named Karli (I think that's what she scribbled in my receipt) that was super unprofessional and had a really bad attitude. She wasn't the pleasant blond girl but rather the unpleasant heavy set brown hair girl. She assigned me a campsite that was reserved already for the next day, so when they showed up I had to move. No problem, I didn't complain at all and moved to another spot that she said was ok. The next day someone showed up and the spot was once again reserved, this time "Karli" comes driving out in a golf cart yelling at me that I need to move. Doesn't even get out of the cart and drives away. Now I have to walk back to the office to see where I am supposed to go! While I was at it I told her she was rude but I was never threatening whatsoever. I say that because then after I left the office she calls the sheriff. Then the sheriffs (2) spent the next hour making sure I was in the right spot, but I never moved because the lady that had reserved the spot was fine with me staying there. So the sheriffs just placated her incompetence and wasted a bunch of taxpayer money. Also worth noting was the quite obvious sense that they don't like people from Colorado which is weird because without us they'd go broke. I played golf, rented campsites and spent money at the shop.

Lewis Park is a nice city park located in Wheatland, Wyoming. So...you would think for a city park…read morethey'd offer a playground, picnic canopies, soccer fields...etc. Well yes, Lewis Park offers all that...AND MORE! And the reason I'm saying MORE than your average typical park is because they allowed camping on the grounds. Camping? Really? Wow...cool for me. That's exactly what I was looking for! Here I was, in this random town of Wheatland...just off the main road of Interstate 25 running through the heart of Wyoming. This Lewis Park was an absolutely suitable place for me to pull over along my travels and rest up for the night. I discovered Lewis Park through the app on my phone called Campendium. I can't recommend Campendium enough for locating random campground and RV Parks on the fly. Along my cross country road trip...this Lewis Park was the only city park where they actually offered camping. Ya know...most of the places I visited were specific campgrounds and or RV/Trailer Parks...yet this place was a park for anyone and everyone to use. They permitted tent camping right on the outskirts of the main soccer field! Here were some great aspects to Lewis Park... When I read the entrance sign...it said it was free to camp! Hmmm...even better. I think they could have easily charged $10 for the night and no one would have taken an issue with that...yet it was free! You don't have to sign up or reserve a site...just first come, first served. There were specific rules mentioning that you could only camp for 3 nights within a 30 day period. The camping area was situated in a little designated area good for about 10 sites. When I came here back over the summertime...it was myself and two other families camping. So...it wasn't busy at all and overall...it was extremely quiet which was great for me to enjoy the fresh outdoor setting. Unfortunately they didn't feature showers or restrooms, but for free camping in a city park...I wasn't even expecting those types of amenities, lol. At least there was a vault toilet located next to the mini golf section. Yeah, nice...they offered mini golf here, though with this 2020 pandemic going on...I wasn't exactly sure if the course area was closed. Well, I didn't see anyone playing. My only issue to get to this vault toilet and the mini golf area from the camping grounds was having to walk around the entire soccer field. So, it was a bit of trek...but no big deal ultimately. I would also mention that this section for camping didn't have the most comfortable ground for making up my tent. I was sort of forced to set up on hard, dirt soil while meanwhile the camping area faced the soccer field where there was fresh fluffy grass much more suitable for pitching a tent. Yeah, it would have been a perfect night's rest if I could have moved my tent onto the soccer field, lol. Oh well...I was satisfied with just being here and having some time to rest and relax before heading to Casper, WY. What I very much appreciated were the picnics tables set underneath canopies. I noticed a family having an afternoon birthday party. This Lewis Park was perfect for something like that. Since there were multiple tables and canopy areas set up around the park...I was able to locate a few electrical outlets underneath these canopies good recharging my phone and portable generator. And...there was good cell phone reception here for browsing the Internet and checking my social media posts, lol. Btw, right beside this park was any necessities you may need from the town of Wheatland including food, gas and supplies. Overall, this Lewis Park was a great stopping point to pull over while driving. Taking in a pleasant summer night's evening here was worthwhile. Granted the town of Wheatland is very small...but I'm really surprised for a city park like this with so many great attributes for local residents to hang out here during the day...that no one has yet to write a review about this place. Regardless, I'm happy to give it some recognition. And for any adventurers or road trippers out there needing a practical spot to set up a tent and camp for free for the night, I recommend this Lewis Park.

I planned a trip to Fort Laramie and was looking for places to stay in the area. So glad I found…read morethis one. I was a little apprehensive at first because it wasn't in the town of Laramie. I couldn't have been more pleased with my stay at Twisters! Guernsey is a no traffic light town. Very peaceful and quiet. There is also so much to do in the area, besides Fort Laramie! Guernsey State Park is a MUST see! It's not far at all from Twisters. Probably about a 5 minute drive. The room I stayed in was cozy. It had everything I needed, cozy bed, and own bathroom (HUGE) with shower. The room rate was very reasonable as well. I was impressed when walking into the room. They provide some complimentary water bottles and some fresh baked goods (cookie and brownie) from the restaurant/bakery directly downstairs. It's those little gestures that mean a lot! One of the owners will communicate with you prior to your arrival. A code will be provided for the back door to the lodging area. It's located on the second floor. You will need to walk up a black metal staircase at the rear of the building to access the lodging floor. Another note is that it was quiet. I slept well and dozed off at a reasonable hour with no loud partying or people making noise. I loved that there was a lounge area right outside the room I stayed in. There were two cozy chairs with pillows and a table to rest your coffee on while reading a book. I used this area to map out the day's adventures while drinking my morning coffee. Also, the restaurant downstairs serves breakfast. Twisters will give you breakfast coupons for a free entree. Any extras that you order are additional charges. The entree and beverage are free. This goes with your stay, of course. Also, their meals are big! If you order the pancakes, plan on skipping lunch! I highly recommend the breakfast burrito! The owners are very friendly. It should be noted, the lodging (hotel) and restaurant are the same business. Don't forget to grab some goodies from the bakery before you depart. They provide wonderful options from cookies to sweetbreads. Loved that they have a bakery with homemade sweets. I highly recommend this place! I plan on returning for 4th of July weekend. I want to get back to Devil's Tower and marvel at the cosmos at night. Looking forward to returning!

Which I completely understand! But we were in a bad spot. When Eric answered, he agreed to stay and found a mechanic, Hunter, to wait for us to get there. They were so kind and accommodating. They let us borrow an extra car to go get oil. Eric even gave my kiddos a tour of the autobody shop. Which for the record is very well kept! We wouldn't have been able to continue on our journey without them, and they even tried to refuse money when we paid them at the end. I would say go to this place if you need someone reliable. It's the most good-humaneness I've seen in a long time!
