The service area with the espresso machine and servers station. Also counter serving food.

The food and the service were great. Avery is the top-notch Cook and the lady who serve at the tables. Brooke is very kind and generous in all that she does. I recommend recommended highly. They've won me over. And I'm a bit of a foodie! They have fresh apple pie and peach cobbler. They buy their potatoes locally in the San Luis Valley.

This diner was the perfect pit stop on the way to New Mexico or Denver, right off the highway, so you don't lose much time with a detour. It's a classic, no-frills diner with lots of BLT options, but if you're vegetarian like me, there are some solid choices too: a black bean burger, corn on the cob, beans, and broccoli. The place was very clean, the service was good, and the vibe was relaxed. A nice, chill spot with a highway view, great for a quiet meal on the road.

This was our second visit and we couldn't be happier to have a wonderful local gem! Service is great! We've now had three different omelets while enjoying this establishment and the amount of mushrooms in the western omelet is amazing along with their ranchero sauce and jalapeño cheese sauce! It's a very clean establishment and is a must stop in Fort Garland! The homemade cinnamon rolls are to die for and they serve alcohol, which is nice for those occasions. Avery has been extremely friendly every time and we look forward to our next visit. It's also nice to know that his dad does all the cooking and you can tell everything is made with care! All of our visits so far have been in the winter time but we are looking forward to enjoying their patio come summer

Chicken and waffles.

Service was fast and excellent. Server knew the menu and had great recommendations. I went with the chicken and waffles either BBQ sauce. It was absolutely delicious. Chicken was crispy and flavorful. I definitely will be back.

This Diner is fantastic!!! The service was excellent! The food was excellent! We had chicken fried steak and I think it was the best I have ever eaten. The restaurant was very clean, portions are very generous and the complementary bread pudding was delicious. You can definitely tell the owners take pride in the service and food. It really made my day better to have such a great lunch and friendly waiter.

What a wonderful find on our leaf peeping weekend drive. It was my birthday today and these guys made it extra special! The food was delicious- homemade biscuits, perfectly cooked eggs, crispy bacon, and amazing pancakes!!

Decent food and good service. A bit slow but it's small place. Lots of locals were eating here so it must be yummy. It was! Decent prices.

My friends and I stopped by for dinner. We did a quick internet research on good dining spots…read morenearby and this popped up. We decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by my first visit here. You do hear Spanish convos in the back kitchen. This restaurant seems really authentic. The servers were young and able to answer any questions you had about the menu. The food came out in a timely manner. They were good about checking in on us. I personally got to try the AL PASTOR QUESADILLAS. The pork was well marinated. There were 4 pieces with a side of rice, guac & beans. The meal was well balanced. The food itself is delicious here! I also got to try the CHAMANGO. It had every ingredient that it was supposed to have - tajin & chamoy sauce inside with a chunky straw coated with tamarind. This drink has a slightly salty/spicy, tangy & sweet taste all in one. It's more expensive than other drink options here, but it's big in size & well assembled. Overall, this is a solid Mexican spot that you won't be disappointed to try. I believe that everything you order here will be good based on what I tried.

After a full day exploring the vast San Luis Valley, the largest high mountain valley in the world,…read morewe were ready for a good meal. I ordered the taco plate, which was satisfying and, surprisingly, priced like it was still pre-pandemic. In today's world, that alone earns goodwill. A few things could elevate the experience. The main dining area would benefit from better ventilation. Also, the salsa bar clearly meant to be a showcase feature, needs more attention during the day. A quick refresh here and there would go a long way toward presentation and food safety. Things like dried salsa around container rims, a stray floating ramekin lid, and limes that looked like they'd been slowly dehydrating made it feel neglected. Finally, table service should include checking back on drinks. A quick pass to refill or ask if anything's needed would make the service more complete. It was a four-star experience but somewhere I'd consider returning given fairly limited options in Monte Vista. With more attention to detail it could be in competition for a five star rating.

It's a small mom and pops restaurant run by a few people, but they were very attentive and made sure everything was made to our liking. It seemed that they had their regulars because they welcomed them by their name and knew their order. I love that they make your experience personal. It's the little things in customer service that makes a business stand out. My husband and I ordered the pad Thai and our littles got burgers. Everything tasted good. We recommend this place if you're in the area.

Let's say, just for example I visit a casino restaurant in Las Vegas. 1. There's no expectation of feeling the experience was a bargain 2. A "Resort Fee" may be added to the check. 3. A "Facility Charge" may be added. 4. A "Employee Benefit" charge may be added. 5. A "Time of Day" charge may be added if you arrive at a busy time. 6. A "Payment Processing" charge may be added when you pull the coveted gold card out. Mrs Rios, not a resort and in fact a humble little establishment will up charge a "Payment Processing" fee when you pull the plastic out. OK but I think it escaped their notice that as that credit card fee is considered when calculating a gratuity. It's true a tip is not expected when the server is the owner as is normally the case here. But I overlook that and tip the owner... Total Tip = Credit card fee + tip. I suppose we are grateful not to be upcharged for Rent, Utilities, Employees, capital improvements, disposables and any of the dozens of other business expenses. Pro Tip: Payment Processing charges are a normal business expense Next the menu items have risen in price more so than others serving similar foods. $5.30 for a fountain beverage is unacceptable when other restaurants are all in the vicinity of $3.00. Sorry, as fond of you as we are simple lunch for 2 with fountain beverages right at the $50 mark doesn't fly. This isn't the Ritz although they seem to want the same revenue flow. Nope, ain't a gonna do it.

Once you get what you need, you ca be off to your destination in the matter of a few to several minutes as it's close to I-25. The young lady upfront who assisted me was very welcoming and sweet. Her pleasantness was probably the best thing I got out of the visit. As I stated, what I needed was an iced doppio and possibly a little bite to eat. Whereas they may make great craft beverages, the selection of the pastries was very limited. I wanted something savory but there was literally nothing for me to choose out of what they had (they all looked not-so-fresh sweet pastries. Not sure if they rotate the baked goods.) The shop is kind of cute inside. And it's not only a coffee shop but also a souvenir shop (or specialty retail shop to be exact.) I didn't bother to look at any of the retail items as I was in a hurry to get home. I read others' reviews and one of them said that the shop doesn't have any tables/chairs to sit down and sip your beverage. It's true; I don't remember seeing any. The same person went onto say that they don't have wifi so no work on your laptop is an option. In all technicality, this is a place to shop for retail stuff and grab a cup of coffee and off you go type place. If that still suits you then stop here.
