Chicken tikka masala was one of the best I've had! Tasty samosas as well. Easy parking and looks like they do takeout too. Would recommend!

We tried take out from here and were disappointed. The flavors were a bit bland and the naan was tough and tasteless. Sorry, won't go back. read more

An unassuming restaurant that has solid Indian food to fill the craving. Tried the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan - the classic staples. At first glance, portions seem small, but they're actually decent. Naan is on the thinner side with 2 orders pictured. Well-coated with ghee and garlic. Service took a moment, but had no issues. Nothing standout-ish for ambiance - can order takeout if you prefer the comfort of your home! read more

Mountain Valley Restaurant - Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan - Himalayan/Nepalese Near Me - Winooski, Vermont

We ordered a lot of food from Mountain Valley Restaurant. We came here this week since our kids are on school vacation, and we decided to stay in Burlington, Vermont. This eatery was located right around the corner from where we were staying. The food and service were fabulous! We ordered: Daal makhani Chicken tikka (dry) Coconut chicken curry Malai kofta curry Cauliflower gobi Manchurian Kheer (5 stars!!) Chicken momos Kaichi chicken Butter naan Garlic naan Everything was delicious. The coconut chicken curry was underwhelming and had a similar taste to the malai kofta curry. The chicken momos were phenomenal. The wrapper was thin and the filling was juicy and flavorful! I was a big fan of the kheer since it was a combination of rice and tapioca balls in a milk pudding! So delicious! The staff were very friendly and explained dishes to us if we had questions. They gave us pricing over the phone and honored the online ordering discount over the phone too! If we are ever in the area, we will definitely come back to visit! read more

We are staying in Burlington and decided to have some food delivered. With the high reviews, we decided to give Mountain Valley a try. It did not disappoint! Our order arrived quickly and everything was DELICIOUS!! I had the lamb saag and it was so tasty and savory. I would definitely recommend! read more

Food was excellent, very reasonable prices and efficient service. When I visited, the place, a decidedly low-key decor, was very warm. Probably why they do what appears to be a significant takeout business. I would visit again for a quick satisfying meal. read more

This little hole-in-the-wall spot here in Winooski is definitely packed with a ton of flavors. The food is made fresh and so good! Momos are my favorite. I had the chicken and pork momos with the chutney. While my friend had a samosa and malai kofta! All in all, 10/10 if you want a flavor packed Nepali dish, hit this place up! Uh-mazing! Also please help out everyone and close the door (all the way). :) read more

excellent Nepali & Indian food, good service, parking across street. Loved samosa chat and momos and enjoyed several curries also.

Always have great food Fantastic service, truly some of the kindest people I've ever met read more

This restaurant is amazing!! We had momos that were delicious, rajma, dal, aloo gobi, samoas, etc, the service was great and the ambience was energetic!! I would definitely recommend this place!! read more

Best little hole in the wall, with delicious food. Popped in on my lunch break and devoured a delicious Mango Lassi. It was vibrant, smooth, and extremely flavorful. Also ordered the butter chicken and butter naan, which was extremely flavorful and delicious. The butter chicken does come with rice, which I believe might've been jasmine rice. Will definitely be eating here again, especially when the staff is so helpful and kind! read more

Happened here by chance while driving through. Fantastic food!! Make sure you stop and try it.

My son and I came to the restaurant late, but the owner kept the place open for us fed us spectacularly with a wonderful lamb biryani, chicken Sakuwa, masala Chiya, garlic naan, mango lassi, and mango chutney where the best dishes we have ever eaten. And on a cold evening in Shelburne the all-in-one owner, waiter, and chef was also the best of hosts. But the food!!! especially a lamb biryani was just out of this world, and also for those who cannot take the spicy nature of Nepali food he made it just right for me which means mild and perfect for my son which means spicy as you can make it! I cannot recommend this place high enough. Whether you're in Shelburne or you're in Burlington and want an extra 10 minute ride--you do, as its worth it! Also ambiance is homie comfortable. Don't let the red panda sign out front throw you. It's Mountain Valley restaurant and it is wonderful! read more

Have had fancy butter chicken in Montreal, Los Angeles, Boston, and this place is by far the best. My friends and I have been going since 2022 and this is our go to spot in Burlington. Also please try their Malai Kofta, it is amazing! read more

I was lucky enough to stumble onto this place while zooming in on a Google map, as it didn't have a yelp posting yet. I was able to place my order online, for asap or schedule it for a future time. I chose asap and the food was ready at the estimated time. Chicken Tikka Masala is my go-to dish for comparing restaurants. It was delicious! You have an option of mild, medium, or hot. Not knowing their definition of hot, I went with mild. It was spicy at all, next time I will try medium. The sauce was thick & rich. I could've had just the sauce and rice, it was so good. Coconut Lamb Curry - the lamb was tender, and the sauce was wonderful. Garlic Naan & Onion Kulcha - both were good, but probably prefer the garlic naan. Definitely ordering from here again! read more

Mountain Valley restaurant is hands down the best Indian restaurant I've ever had the pleasure of dining in. The staff is friendly, attentive, and kind. The food is fresh and spectacular with generous portions. The ambiance is homey and zen. I can't recommend this restaurant enough! read more

Been here multiple times now! Authentic Napali food in the old pho dang spot. Food is amazing they're open pretty late and on mondays which is great. Nice little atmosphere and plenty to choose from on the menu. You can't go wrong coming here for what ever occasion you have planned from a date to bringing your parents or even a to go order. Please never leave :) read more

Placed an online order at like 3:30, site said it would be ready by 3:49. Stopped in to grab it at 3:55 and they hadn't even started making it yet. I said just forget it and give me a refund and I went somewhere else. Still waiting on the refund... read more

Really, really delicious Indian. Loved my mango lassi. This place was not what I expected. Definitely geared to take out - which is what I did. Highly recommend. We ordered the chicken tikka - medium spice - and the papadums Plenty of food to share with my daughter. read more

I don't know if there has been a change of ownership or what's going on, but I was so disappointed getting takeout. They were out of chicken kadai, the dish I ended up ordering was barely spicy, and they don't serve their fabulous naan anymore (it was literally incredible)! This was the best spot in Vermont for Indian food... now, not so much. read more

This place is really great! I got the potato cheese naan and veggies dumplings and it was all really fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the Mountain Valley Restaurant! read more

Delightful experience. Extremely modest venue promises extraordinary food. We ate in. Delightful, thoughtful service. Traditional beef momos very good. Curries seasoned to New England taste- don't be afraid to order some spice. Prices very reasonable. Big take-out traffic. A gem among the many food options in Burlington. Highly recommended. read more

The food was awesome! I recommend it! The paneer masala was extra-yummy! And the bread was excellent too.

We had the most amazing meal here! Lentil soup has no right to taste so amazing...the cauliflower appetizer was phenomenal, and our chicken curry and tandoori chicken had incredible flavor and was so tender! The place is tiny (we ate in), and it was WARM in there, but it was completely worth it to have this food! read more

Delicious dinner! Standard pricing for Winooski, with solid portions. Samosa Chaat Appetizer- flavorful, enough to share Baigan Bhartva - Eggplant curry dish. Flavorful, rich, and tasty. Medium spice was Veg Momo - Nice thin dumpling dough. Acombo of cabbage, onion and spices, with a mild tahini dipping sauce. read more

Great food. Seasoned so well and no complaints over here. Will definitely be going back.

OH MY GOD! BEST Nepali food I've had in chittenden county. EVERYTHING is seasoned to perfection and spot on. Last night my boyfriend and I got paneer tikka masala, chicken tikka masala and beef momo. The paneer was so squeaky and the sauce was rich and flavorful. The chicken had the smoky taste of the tandoori oven, and the momo was excellent. I'm eating my leftovers now and already dreaming about the next time we can get take out. My new favorite restaurant! read more

I've loved everything here and can't wait to try more. The only negative I can report is the cauliflower appetizer - would not order that again. There was no bite left in the cauliflower and the breading was VERY chewy. We got takeout, so some of that could have been a result of steaming in the container, but I don't know - it was REALLY chewy. read more

The food hit. I've ordered three times this week. The place is small but worth it. This is your sign. Service was great as well!

We were a party of 12 that came in loud in this beautiful restaurant that had one of the best Nepali/Indian food in Burlington! Mix of both veg and non veg food- the veg food was delicious. The non veg food was undeniably amazing as well. They were closing an hour after we came, but the service was fast, efficient and they are all SO nice. Couldn't recommend a place more than this one! Great price point, delicious food and incredible service. read more

Holy moly... we saw the google reviews of "best Indian I've ever had" so we had to check it out ourselves and they weren't lying. Food was wonderfully fresh, well seasoned and exactly what I hope for when having Indian food. We got the chicken tiki and the butter paneer tiki and they were both to die for. Lightly sweet which I exactly what I look for and perfectly spiced. We got medium :) read more

Had an amazing dinner here! Two of us shared Samosa Chaat app, Naan, Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Korma (and brought home at least half). Medium spice on all was zingy without taking over. Great flavor and super service in a small store front with 8-10 tables. Lots of takeout came through as we ate. We heard this was good and it didn't disappoint. So glad to have this place nearby. read more

We stumbled across this very small restaurant when a nearby one was closed. It's a bit hidden in that the sign isn't easily read in the dark and the interior with just a few tables is plain though warmly welcoming. And what a wonderful experience! As others have written, flavorful delicious food with good service and very fair prices. We're from out of town and chose to eat here several times during our stay. The owner came by and we had a couple of nice chats. They were doing a steady take-out and delivery business during our meals. Highly recommend the food. read more

WOW! We just moved to town and had been rather disappointed in some of the takeout restaurants we had tried so far. Mountain Valley Restaurant is easily the best meal we've had in all of Vermont, and possibly the best Indian takeout I've personally had maybe ever. We played it safe this time with some chicken tikka masala and garlic naan; I can't wait to try this place again and have some of the more authentic recipes they offer. Absolutely delicious, 10/10 highly recommend. read more

Delicious food! We got takeout and it was ready within a half hour. The paneer tikka masala was amazing and the garlic naan was only $4 so we got two! Definitely will be coming back read more
